    Must... show.. friends...

This is hillarious! I could never have predicted that Bioware could screw the pooch so gloriously. I seriously have not been this entertained since Mortal Online launched.

Sucks that you got banned, dude. Bioware's CS fails.

Given the OPs posts in this thread I can certainly understand how bioware could think he was 12.

The TOS states you must be over 13, then he claimed he was under 13.

Btw, let us know if your friends actually find this funny. I'd assume being stabbed in the face was more entertaining than listening to someone recite this and expect a laugh. You thinking of taking up stand up comedy as a career?

    QFT, +1, gg, /thread etc.

Sorry, but deliberately trolling on their official forums, what the hell did he expect, a pat on the head? Btw, I hope those asshats who posted about turrets giving 'massive valor' getting themselves a nice little ban as well. That caused a lot of anger and confusion over the whole ilum pvp issue.

It is not the exact some thing, not even close, but if that is what you need to tell yourself to keep the Bioware hate going then it is not like any posts here will make any difference to you.

  • kartoolkartool Member UncommonPosts: 520

If Bioware didn't ban the person and it turned out they were really 13 and it was known Bioware was aware of it they would be leaving themselves open to legal trouble.

The game is rated T. According to the ESRB:

Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language

Bioware didn't have much of a choice.

  • ClerigoClerigo Member UncommonPosts: 400

I am sorry, but i see no other way to go here. If you are not 13 then you should apologise to Bio and send them proof you are 13 or over. Maybe they will let slide this one.

If you are under 13, then and according to their agreement, you cant play this game.

Dude, he made a JOKE. An overused meme, yes, but banning someone for it is a bit beyond overzealous. They could have at the least contacted him and asked before resorting to a perma ban.

But by all means, continue to insult me and my friends. Fanboyism like yours only serves to provide entertainment for us. (Yeah, my friends found this video funny. Sad, but funny.)

Explain to me what the difference is that I fail to see.  He got banned for stating he is 12.  Bob stated publicly he is 12.  I'm clearly missing something here and I'd like you to explain why the 2 cases are different.  Bob is actually imo the worse of the two cases as he was explicitly asked how old he was.

The OP should not have been perma-banned. A suspension pending asskissing maybe. He/she/it should at laeast have the right to appeal.

    However, the OP lacks wisdom.

Wisdom dictates that while individuals may have a sense of humor, organisations generally don't. Individuals representing organizations tend to adopt, temporarily, the ethos and strictures of the organisation they represent. The OP acted unwiseley.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

Perhaps you should review what my opinion actually is of TOR before making an assumption on my point of view.

And I don't see how cognitive dissonance has anything to do with this. I don't feel particularly conflicted on my opinions.

And as for brand loyalty, I again say you really should review what my opinion actually is.

Conclusions are a bad thing to make when you have no logic to base it on.

    EDIT: And to Clock.

The main difference is the context. One is on a public forum specifically regulated and screened, the other is on a guild chat where only a finite amount of people operating on a somewhat friendly basis should and could be interacting.

Honeslty I think both places are terrible ones to be making bad jokes in poor taste on, especially if it's one that can be interpreted if taken flatly as breaking a signed agreement, law, etc.

Like another person said, you can't expect a corporate entity to have a sense of humor. They have to take things as they are written lest something get overlooked as they are liable for it.

Yep. It's a federal law called COPPA:

If you're American, you can't have an account on a website if you're under 13 without some sort of parental consent. Meme or not, if someone here in the US is enough of a dumbass to claim that they're under 13 in an MMO or on a web forum, they deserve to be banned for general stupidity.

Definitely one of the most interesting things to get banned for

Perma ban is harsh though and I would ask my money from the box back :P

  • moosecatlolmoosecatlol Member RarePosts: 1,531

Might ask that if anyone is planning to cancel their subscription, that instead of just canceling they go onto the forums and state they are between the ages of 1-12, just to get a better idea of how ignorant EA can be. I'm curious to see if they would be willing to ban someone for saying they're only 12 months old.

  • cyress8cyress8 Member Posts: 832

The ones defending Bioware. How can you not question this ban. For one, did they even attempt to prove he was 12, to check if it was a typo, or anything? If not then the ban was heavy handed and shows they are just swinging the hammer wildly.

    BOOYAKA!

I've worked at a game studio before. You're generally not going to get insta-banned unless you're a dumbass.

If this person really did get perma-banned, they did something to piss off the CSR. If they claimed to be 12 and then kept up the "joke" when someone at EA tried to verify their age, or if they were a jerk about the whole thing, then oh well.

Does it matter?  Buying a ban with your own mouth is a perfectly legitimate ban.

The reason Bioware banned you was silly, but I would have permabanned people who use terrible, stale, unfunny memes too.  Of course, I would label it as 'shitposting' instead.

    Oh god i can't breath

Meme or not you said you were 12. Honestly your fault all the way. Embrace the epic fail bestowed upon yourself and move on.

    Trust me, i don't care

The game is already sinking, might as well speed up the process by banning people for EVERYTHING POSSIBLE

Yeah It sounds like you dont care lol.

You said you were underage. They kicked you out of the club lol.

I wish I had your intestinal fortitude dude. I mean to do something retarded and then post yourself getting owned for everyone to see is .....just.....

    It was stupid man.

    Oh and ...

    LOL
