I've seen at least 4 news articles all featuring the word "because of its success" or "it's a successful" when all data prooves the opposite and something starts to smell of plague rats.
I see what you're doing, EA.
Partial persuasive information, hide the truth at all costs.

Yeah, happens all the time. The technique was used heavily, and still is, in the social engineering of mass opinion we saw with the promotion of the F2P revenue model.
Most aren't aware of it though so it works.
All hail The Hypnotoad.
I would like to see this data people keep talking about.
What do you have that proves them unsuccessful? What data?
In Bioware we trust!
maybe not unsuccessful but most people detest EA. They nickle and dime their customers. You just have to look at mass effect 3 to see how EA views its customers.
Yeah we know people hate EA but we are talking about this data OP has that proves SWTOR is unsuccesful. I would like to see that data and get informed like OP.
I'd like to see this too. I suspect that something is rotten in the state of Denmark, but I've seen nothing at all that proves it.

In my opinion swtor is unsuccessful because of the negativity attached to the game, this negativity comes from gamebreaking bugs that are well publicized. I don't see any potential for growth in subscriptions for swtor. so the game will constantly be in decline..in my opinion that makes the game unsuccessul.
I respect your opinion but that is not what OP is talking about. he is talking about data not personal opinions. I haven't seen any data myself to prove that SWTOR is unsuccessful so i am not trusting OP.
EVERY single topic i.e massively's articles (like this http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/02/14/hyperspace-beacon-finally-50/) has players posting about quitting for disappointment, for lack of basic content, for their guilds abandoning the game, for sheer boredom!
And the reviews from capable journos, the vids on youtube, everything.
All positivty comes from EA, Bioware, and those under them, all negativity comes from us peasants.
It's time for some beheading

If you were just going to base failure of SWTOR on how much people complain you didn't even have to go that far, you could have just posted link for mmorpg.com.
Sorry but that is not the data.
well fine that's fine.
The point is their subliminal propaganda, not the fricking datas of failure.
they're forcing positivity and happy happiness. That's fact. Why? They're scared, no? That's hard fact too.
Besides, c'mon. The game is poopy doopy. Another hard data.

Guees you never heard of advertisement. Do you really expect them to put down their own product? Really?
In Bioware we trust!
I think we're going in circles here. You point out "subliminal propaganda" and say it has no basis. But you claim the opposite of what they say....with no basis other than what other people say.
So who's propaganda should I belive? EA that the game is a success, or you that the game is not?
For every action there is an equal, but opposite reaction. That is what you are doing, countering their "propaganda" with your own.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
i have said this many time op i ll say it one last time just in case you missed it!most player baught a prepaid card those are 60 days add the free 30 days .that is 90 days total.so count when the game was released.it asnt been 90 days yet (plus or minus a week)so swtor is still in its game of the season fame!once the 90s are up tho you can go stare at number and say its this or that etc!till then it would be nice we didnt see this kind of thread till say the 1 of april 2012 (to give stat cruncher time to compile proper data to chew on!
When people provide the data, the Unicorns and Fairies Live in My Garden crowd stick their fingers in their ears and put their hands over their eyes and make up more idiotic arguments than you can shake a stick at... It's like dealing with AIDS deniers, anti-vax cranks or anyone else who prefers what's inside thier head to what's going on in the real world.
We have good models of player behavior. We know when people start cutting down their hours, the playing-population is decreasing. We know subscriptions, which are paid in advance, will start to follow on the same exact curve. We know this... It is as certain as the sun coming up in the east.
And it works for ALL MMOs. And people can whine, deny and cry all they want, but it's the way it is...
But there's no point. Those that can get beyond their delusions to the 'tuted success' of this game, due to excessive over-emotional investment, can see that it's crashing, burning and dying. How far it will contract... Honestly, it's hard to say...
What we can say is the game's sales have tanked to well below the amount necessary to maintain a large population. Further, sales are still tanking... I don't know where they're going to flat-line, so I don't know exactly what the future population looks like... But it's pretty grim. Right now the best example (best fit play curve) in the MMO market comes from WARHAMMER ONLINE which went from 800K to 100K in six months.
You won't need that. They're publically traded and well tell you the subs on the FYE 03/31/2012. There will be 'sub-runover' for the six-month cards, so subs will almost certainly be higher than actual active players. Plus they're going to put the Asian sales in those numbers (that's the reason for the March 1st release) to pad them for the financial statements.
Those will be easy to remove since they'll probably do the same thing they did with NA. Wait a few days to start the subs so they expire after the financial cut-off date. So, FOR EXAMPLE, if they report 2.5 million subs and 2 million came from Asia... That'll mean 0.5 million subs in NA/EURO, of which not all will be active players.
So your saying you know nothing. Kinda a long winded way to go about it.
In Bioware we trust!
it's just perception in the public's mind EA=greedy money graping company
therefore anything that is negative and relates to EA makes sense
really just like sony during the old days for evercrack, poor customer service and trust me their soe service still sux.
just to conclude, the general public(customer) is always right, just the fanboy that fail to see it because they have not been burned yet.
just food for thought.
So in short nothing real and just lots of assumptions and conjecture. Ok!
I didn't buy it = unsuccessful
"I am not in a server with Gankers...THEY ARE IN A SERVER WITH ME!!!"
I understand the point "we" tout TOR's failure, they its success so we're even.
I think it's bad only when "the man" does it, tho. They should have more responsibility. I don't have those kinds of instruments of persuasion.

It only makes them look more and more lame as people start to realize. Them I mean EA and Bioware.
I bet much of the negativity and hate towards them comes from their obvious manipulation and abuse of the people that feeds them.
An example: a mail saying:
"You are a valued community member and we want to make sure you didn't miss the opportunity to benefit from pre-order bonuses. Pre-order stock is quickly selling, so hurry to ensure you lock in your Early Game Access."
I mean, come on.. wtf.
Compare this to:
"Thanks for signing up for a chance to participate in the XXX beta test. We've received your application and we'll email you if you've been accepted. We appreciate your interest in XXX!

Nice, polite, sincere, respectful.
An honest review of SW:TOR 6/10 (Danny Wojcicki)
Ahhh - this harkins me back to a time over ten years ago when online gamers just played online games. You took the game as it was - if you liked it you played if not you moved on. No conspiracy theories, no spamming message boards with how much you hate/love the game. No fanboys and haters. You just played what was out there (which wasn't much) or you didn't play at all.
Now....well...now its different.
