Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?

I have yet to see anything that has raised any doubts about buying this game, I will be buying it. I like what Anet are trying to achieve, I liked their previous game and the forty minutes I played of GW2 was enough to say this is refreshing and fun! I really can't see how it's going to be a waste of my money, if the game lives up to my expectations I'll be throwing money at the cash shop because Anet are one of the few businesses that deserve it, a game built by gamers with a vision, a rarity on the mmo landscape.

Why does it matter? but he asked a valid question. This topic is for players to tell whether they are buying GW2 or not. Falmign someone for not buying GW2 is just....

Good point. I will probably buy 4 copies eventually. Most MMOs the kids watch us play and want to join in but it is hard to justify a sub if they only play 4 hours a month. We have 3 copies of GW1 so our oldest can play when he wants. Subs is prohibitive for a family game due to subs adding up fast

I'm a gamer and like most gamers. I follow gaming forums like MMORPG.COM. I look at or read up on all PC games. I happen to be taking a break from SWTOR to read the forums and came across this one.

That wasn't a flame, I'm just curious :).  If he just saw the post on the main page, then it would totally make sense why he said No on the poll.  But if he follows the game, then I was just going to ask him why he's following it when he doesn't plan on buying it.

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?

Yes it is, original GW is the family MMO for us too, three copies across the family.

I said yes, but I can completely understand, and even endorse, the "maybes."  There's nothing wrong with being a little skeptical.  I just don't understand the mindset of "I have no intention of ever purchasing this game, yet I will go on its forums."  Any game I have followed, I at least thought I might buy it at some point.

Yeah, I'm starting to regret putting that option in the poll, it could attract trolls and drama.

But alas I wanted to be fair and give everyone their say.

It is however interesting how people follow games to hate on them. lol

Why would you have done that?  This is an MMO site where people discuss a lot of games whether they will play them or not.  It's funny to see how some people in a game forum can't stand that other people don't think like they do.

Would we want to keep "no" folks out because their disinterest or distaste of the game because it makes us feel uncomfy?

Many people just look at the recent thread list and see what folks are talking about.  That's why we're here, to discuss games.  Maybe you should have posted this in the general section or you just should have had one "option" of YES to see how many will be buying it.

I voted maybe, but if there was just a YES option then I would have skipped the thread entirely.  I hope you see the potential problems that can come with surrounding ourselves with people that only tell us what we want to hear.

I do not even go to game forums I watch the Most Recent Posts.  So I have no clue what forum you are writing this in most of the time.

People, don't make a decision before you actually tried the beta extensively or at least get various reviews from people who have.

At this point, I doubt anyone on this forum has played enough and seen enough to do a rational decision.

Myself, I think a "rational decision" can be made from hearing what other beta testers have to say and watching their footage on YouTube. TotalBisquit, for one, has tons of information, opinion, and footage.

Incidentally, in the past you never had ANY real information before buying games. "Regular people" were not allowed in beta testing, for the most part.  Beta teams were paid and professional.  And yet I still managed to choose incredible games, both single player and multiplayer.  Gee...how did I do that?

If YOU feel a need to "drive the car" before you buy it, by all means....hit the race track.  But it's really none of your business how OTHERS choose to make their decisions, after all, is it?  Why do you seem so determined to change the way OTHER people make a decision about a game purchase?  Seems sort of strange, you know?

I'm not trying to make that claim.

Its ok if you don't want to buy the game, everyone has their reasons.

Some may be more inclined to a game like Tera or Blade and Soul, some can't afford it, some people may not like fantasy games or the art style.

You do have to admit though, there are alot of fanboys that hate just to hate.

They appear in every forum regardless of what game it is or how good it is. lol =P

I can assure you I have seem more footage of other actual people playing the game and enough in depth detail on game mechanics to know I will enjoy the game.

In fact it's the first MMO release that I haven't had to try convince myself that it will be different, it just is and it's plain as day to see. Maybe you could stick with the idea that you need to wait until release to know how a game plays for other games that have released in the past but GW2 is there for all to see, if you do enough research.

And regardless of how the game is, I believe ArenaNet deserve my money for the initial box at least because this is the exact kind of game I have been waiting for since WoW. When I got WoW I imagined what could be better and most of it ends up looking something like GW2.

Exactly.  I have been waiting for a game with real PvP since DAOC.  I am willing to put money in arenanet's pockets simply because the 'concept' of the game design has PVP players in mind instead of just an after-thought.

"No" should definitely be a poll option.  I'm just curious why people said no, that's all.

So OP puts three options in poll yes, no and maybe.... that is for everyone to vote and if someone votes for 'no' that makes you curious? seriously GW2 fans are starting to scare me with their rational.

Explainig their 'no' would only invite more wrath from fanboys around here.

Easy there on the hair trigger friend.

I just assumed that if you were on this sub-forum specifically dedicated to GW2, that you were probably following the game.  And I was curious as to why someone would follow a game that they never had any plans on buying.

Then someone brought up that a lot of folks just scan the most recent posts on the main page and may have got to this poll from there instead.  That made sense to me, and I was curious if the guy who said "no" got to the poll from the main page or if he was actually following the game.

Is that so really? i really doubt that you made this discovery today. A lot of people just click on active posts on front page. That is why you get lots of players in games they have no interest and yet stay for weeks to remind everyone how much it sucks even when they quit. You should know that..you spent considerable amount of time doing that not so long ago. And now suddenly you are curious..haa..you almsot fooled me there.

Most probably I'll buy the game. The only thing that could really affect this is a P2W cash shop.

I put maybe. Chances are I will but you never know.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

I understand the point you are making perfectly. It was the intention of the thread to see how much of the community on this specific site was interested in buying the game. Kudos for mentioning this.

The way i'm looking at it, its gona be what £40 for standard edition if that. Thats one console game with 12-24 hours of gameplay. Don't get me wrong i love some console games ME3 FTW.

Guild wars 2 will have atleast 100+ hours easily. Its just a matter of fun/cost.

I will be ordering a pre release copy as soon as they announce the release details and versions.
