I like the idea here to try to get devs to notice that there are still gamers left that want a true sandbox where we as the players make our own world economy and set how we do things though i think going on some random game and subbing might not be the most effective way. Rather if i were you Id simply put up some kind of Facebook page make it free to subscribe to it and have it set up as the "We want a new Sandbox MMO" thats made by a company willing to put out alittle cash to make it a truely good game instead of the usual epic fail clone of the themepark games or the half assed sandbox games of late.
Honestly I think its more of a lack of wanting to invest in something that almost totally leaves the Devs out of it after its creation. A true sandbox is governed by its own population. The economy is run by the players and really most all that happens in the game the way the world itself works is by what the players in it chose to do. Sure they can add more to it but not in the way Wow or SWtor can. Its probably alittle scarey for them to think that they are making and setting up a game that in essence will be controlled by the will of the player base instead of the devs.
Honestly if i had the money Id love to set up something like the orginal SWG with player run economy and where you have a basic set of professions that each rely on the others to do what their profession does. Hunters/Fighting profs need armor weapons, armorsmiths/weaponsmiths need resources some from creatures or ground spawns that have to be harvested/mined from places they cant go without a protector(fighting profession) and doctors that help heal wounded.
You don't put sandbox mechanics into a game... u build a game that will allow for sandbox mechanics.
It is a design element of the game and decided upon even before the start to assemble the whole dev team. Because that decision sets the tone for budget.
