So we've seen the videos! We've seen the game play! We've seen the overall awesomeness of this game so far! So now let's see what you think ArcheAge will do. Vote and let's see what people are thinking.
The sandbox aspect dont appeal to the majority of players sadly but I dont think it will fail, hopefully its gonna be another EVE in the success aspect.
Can I play this game if I don't speak Korean or Russian? Probably not very well. Ask again when they are actually going to publish this game in the West.
From what I can tell people in beta are simply amazed at all there is to do and how life like it is in respect to the things you can do.
I look forward to this game especially all the class combos!! Hoping TERA will keep me occupied for quite some time until this gem is out. This is the one game I have been waiting for. The fact it is a korean game it will release here pretty bug free which is awesome. They really seem to test the hell out of thier games and they are so smooth once we get them in NA.
Everything I've seen of it has been impressive but I don't know details on the gameplay side. Rumbles that I've heard are that we could be a year or even two away from a western release.
Ken Fisher - Semi retired old fart Network Administrator, now working in Network Security. I don't Forum PVP. If you feel I've attacked you, it was probably by accident. When I don't understand, I ask. Such is not intended as criticism.
So hard to say right now, I hope for the game to be a huge success but I will be contempt with it being stable with 100k+ subs, if/when we ever get to that. If we don't see a publisher by 2013 then we might need to hold on to these thoughts for a long while, but if they manage to get the game out by the end of next year while the hype is still relatively fresh we might see it do well. It will be interesting to see how popular this sandpark game will be however, will the younger generations be interested? Will the 'hardcore' sandbox fans like what it offers? So many questions still to be answered, but whatever the case if the game turns out to be a compelling experience and hold me for the foreseeable future then it is a success for me and really thats all that matters.
I did get to play briefly through a uni mates account but I haven't really had enough of a taste to really get a feel for the game, and things may change for the western market so I will hold judgement.
Either way yes I want to see it do well, but with a list of unanswered questions I can only cross my fingers right now.
It really depends on what you want to compare it to.
For current MMO generation:
Anything over the So-so option is wishfull thinking. Now if you were to move this game back an interject it in the year 2001-2002. I might be inclined to vote for a huge sucess. But this is 2012. The player menatility has changed. The majority of mmo players now do not want an MMO, they just want an thempark online RPG.
For the real MMO players
The sucess of this game is going to depend on player retention. And I mean for years not months. I hope and prey this game impliments a great PvE raiding system to complement what sounds to be a great end-game PvP system. It will never reach million plus subs, but 200-300k subs over 3-4 year period would make this a highly sucessful game.

I cant denny the awsome animation and features the game seems to have, but not really what i want in an mmo, but something diferent is always good, i do prefer team play e-sport type of combat, not a chilled mmo like this one.

Lol, chilled MMO, it will hardly be chilled when the enemy arrives at the gates of you freshly built castle and you are scrambling to defend it. Far better than the epeen antics of battlegrounds.

Won't be that chilled , pvp side with sieges and so forth won't be chill that for sure.
IF you looking for e-sport though , stay away as you propably looking for "balanced" / "fair "/ etc - well I am personally fed up with e-sports (will make an exception for GW2 propably though) in mmorpg's and BG fights ,etc - cause you would be propably frustrated - AA is more for cusomization and large scale combat than e-sport.

I realy like what this company is doing right now,but i really dont want it to be "huge succes" what is huge succes now?15,000,000 players?
which means ,wow forums in few months, dumbed down mechanics in few months, flying my little pony cash shop in few months, etc.
I'm really looking forward to this game, but I'm trying to manage my expectations. It's really just too early to make these kinds of predictions reasonably.
I chose average success because in the very own review links in this forum i've found that they still use the age old questing system. If you are playing a sandbox game it shouldn't have anything similar to a themepark at all and that includes WoW-like questing, you know the model, talk to townsperson, kill ten rats, turn into townsperson rinse repeat. Now some have stated that the crafting actually gives you close to the same amount of xp but if it's just close then it's really not that different it needs to be on par with the xp from questing to be a true sandbox.
Don't get me wrong, i like the who concept of the rest of the game but these companies need to completely leave behind the ten year old gaming model to impress me.

While I partially agree ,you can either take some great parts of this game along with some parts you don't like (questing) or wait another 5 years at next AAA sandbox-y / sandpark game.
After I realized that - I choosed to play AA once it hits NA/ EU soil.
I won't be able to find my 'ideal' sandbox if I keep my standards ridiculosely high (I would like UO & SWG mix made as AAA title- but well that won't happen and I am fed up with broken-indie titles - I applaud their devs but most of them just don't have resources to fix problems in their games sadly).
It depends on how they handle PvP. If its open world FFA, then its going to seriously niche itself in the western markets. If they have PvE servers, it will likely do better. But all too often when I hear "sand box", it translates to FFA gankfest, which turns off a LOT of people these days.
I really hope ArcheAge will deliver what they have showed and talked about. ArcheAge together with GW2 will be an experience that propably will make me single ^^ (Luckily girlfriend wants to play GW2 so I might be able to pull this off)
Numbers eem to be related to marketing, the biggest numbers always point that way.Marketing is a huge billion dollar industry for a reason,it works and this game like FFXI,will not have it.
However as far as game content goes, these guys are going to deliver more than Eve has accomplished after 7 years, more than Wow has with all their millions of dollars and more than Eq2 and without charging us extra for content [ya you SOE].
My opinion is that it at least deserves half the time to improve and grow like these other half ass attempt games have been given. So if people are willing to wait 5-7 years and still missing content, this game deserves at least 2-3 years to work out some expected quirks/problems in pvp and PVE content.
One thing for sure is you know pvp will NEVER live up to expectations,it just can't as some are looking to be overpowered, while those others are complaining their class is underpowered.Personally i do not care about balance in class just as long as their is a coherence in the group, example a design that allows the core to work well together and not as individuals. If that citeria is met,i might even be happy to partake in a little pvp, something i usually detest in rpg's.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I think most of the sandbox crowd would play it and maybe some of the themeparkers will be converted..
But I think a good chunk of todays MMO gamers would give it a pass. Having only played themeparks alot of them would be lost in a sandbox game I think. Just my opinion tho.
And thats IF they get a publisher for a western market.
As a PvP MMO I believe it will fall in the area average and huge success, as MMO in general I believe it will fall in the area of somewhat and average success. The reason for this is a PvP focused game still falls into the niche category. So while I believe it will do better then say EvE if they continue to maintain the game I don’t think it will be a huge success when compared to other titles that give people the option between PvP and PvE. Add to this that when you die from PvP you receive a debuff, yes that right if you lose to someone in PvP or ganking you are punished and I could see that turning off some on the fence PvP'ers, however I see it as a nice alternative to full loot so 6 in one hand... etc etc...
Another factor is release date, lets face it it will be two to three years before we see this MMO in the West and a lot can happen in that time span. The game still has a ways to go before it’s ready for the East and by the time it comes this way the hype train could have easily slowed down as people jump over to the next MMO.
Either way XL Games will have my money even though my PvP interest has waned over the years, this is because the game offers so much more then your average MMO (crafting and exploring are top on my list) and brings back much of what I loved about old school MMO’s.
Because flying a Minmatar ship is like going down a flight of stairs on an office chair while firing an Uzi.
Imo it has a very strong potential to become a very succesful "niche" game in the west. If they don't go for bombastic hype and instead let the quality and word-of-mouth do their work I think EVE-like numbers are not unrealistic at all. I'd say 300,000 - 500,000 subs in the west eventually would be a realistic number to strive for.
Whatever they do, they must not overhype it andtry to market it to the widest possible audience because it could blowback quite badly. Steady growth and quiet confidence would be the best way to go, imo.

I think word of mouth will do well for it after it comes out.

Let's internet
I'm really looking forward to this game, but I'm trying to manage my expectations. It's really just too early to make these kinds of predictions reasonably.
I cannot say without playing the game first.
however, the game looks good from a graphical standpoint.
If done right it might stablizie at around ~ 500-600 k subs with high retention rate.
Sales in first months imo will break 1 mil, not everyone will stay ofc.
Has potential to be succesful mmorpg with reasonalby loyal playerbase - it won't break into Swtor / WoW numbers though.
Definately can be more succesful than AoC, Warhammer Online ,etc though
Maybe even more than Rift.
Could be great mmo, the potential is there.
