What pvp games need imo are the propper enjoyable tools to appeal wider playerbase. AA seems to have loads of them. Being said, searching loopholes and griefing will break any game, we all seen that, so i think we all agree that polished game mechanics need to be complemented with some ethical gamming, otherwise no DeV team can keep up with cheats and gamebreakers.
Regarding publishing issues, i canT belive, with current economical situation no publisher takes this game seriously and pushes a simultaneous launch with Korea; it even makes me wonder how really hard would be to publish AA in EU/etc...I mean, this game has the potential to drag a lot of paying customers.
It do look fun, but I have become a cynic about sandbox games from unknown developers...
I think it just will do so-so, I expect it to have some fatal flaws in it. I hope I am wrong though.
Thats my expectation as well. Given that its FFA PvP, that alone will niche it in the western markets. Their "criminal" system has been tried before. It didn't work then, its highly unlikely to work now.
It depends largely on how well they handle the FFA aspect of the game. The less consequences there are for murdering innocent players and taking their stuff, the smaller the game's population will be.
Yes there's a jail system, but let's be honest, 30 minutes in "timeout" isn't much of a detterrent. Most PKers and criminals will just log out and play something else or AFK until the timer wears off. All the while, they still get to reap the rewards of the loot they took from other players.
FFA PvP is great... in concept. In practice, it's frustrating for most gamers who have to deal with the fraction that enjoys "taking advantage" of the system.
While i don't think this game is the next coming of christ, i do believe it will be self sustaining. honestly its hard NOT to be self sustaining anymore, so i think even with a limited playerbase that it will be good. don't get me wrong this is no hate speech, but the sandbox crafting MMO has one major downfall. These MMO's require days upon months to get anywhere, now say you have been playing Wurm for so long that you literally have a castle. this castle took X amount of time to do, when you spend time on a project like that you tend to get connected to it. this makes me skeptical that people will automatically jump from their respective games to archage. its almost idential to WoW syndrome. i could go try a new game, but i have 7 80's and i don't want to lose those 80's. i think that will be the biggest downfall of Archeage, players wont switch from their respective games to this one. the player base following this on the forum is likely to become its playerbase, give or take afew hundred guests that dont post and just watch progress.
Because i can. I'm Hopeful For Every Game, Until the Fan Boys Attack My Games. Then the Knives Come Out. Logic every gamers worst enemy.

Do I know anything about the game - Barely. It is supposed to be pvp/sandbox from what I gather.
My gut feeling tells me so-so. No idea why, but that's how I'm feeling
