I agree, and how about the political pvp that goes on in EVE, not to be found in a FPS. The political stuff - corp spies, etc is always good.
Yeah, that shit exists in pure PvP games, it's called drama.
What to some people is top-notch machievallian politics to others just looks like a bad episode of reality tv. Watching an episode of Celebrity Apprentice tends to cure me of any desire for MMORPG politics.

ppl wanna feel important I guess? Partcipating in drama online because you got no friends to cause drama with is fun?
Well, this thread is certainly a good joke... just shows where the modern generation has gone. Modern Warfare? Compared to an MMO? Hey, if you want to speak about "best MMO PVP", how about a look at Planetside? Just my two cents, it has everything you wrote in your post, and more, except for a singleplayer/coop campaign of course.
What was the maximum player limit of MW 3 again? 32? Even ArmA 2 is closer to MMO, considering that it allows was it 128+ players in PvP with a completely dynamic island, and of course score keeping, traits and levels and all can be implemented easily (If anyone would even consider coding such crap into a milsim, that is.)
I mentioned Planetside earlier too. Id also like to mention that I loved Shadowbane's pvp because the outcome of it did in fact change the world. I still miss that game.
hey i am thinking between gw2 and cod mw3 which one to buy , but i don;t understand something , when i buy the original game and instal it on my pc ..... afther that if i buy a new computer Can i instal it again and be able to play multiplayer and evrything ????
If u want to debate a topic (an arguement), u take it to its base level. You do not cloud the debate/topic with add_ins that don't fit the discussion, to only make a minor point. (Trying to compare 8 vs 8 pvp to 64 person fps... lol)
How does one attempt to rebuttal my points using foolish logic like that? The OP is simply unaware of the differences and it shows.
Planetside, Mortal Online & darkfall are persistant world fps & pvp games. How does one bring Word of Warcraft's battlegrounds into this discussion & keep a strait face.
Again pvp is not the same as fps... there are very few fps mmo out there. Play them, educate yourself. Before making wild assumptions)
It is laughable to think otherwise

Yeah, you posted a similar response earlier in this thread. Me (the OP) and a couple others tried to explain that you misunderstood the point of the post. You still misunderstand it I'm afraid...
GW2 "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind" 1) Cash->Gems->Gold->Influence->WvWvWBoosts = PAY2WIN 2) Mystic Chests = Crass in-game cash shop advertisements
I think that Planetside was funner in its own way and Darkfall is definitely funner than MW3. Planetside 2 and Darkfall 2 should totally blow MW3 out of the water. They wont have as good of graphics or as realistic gameplay but because of latency and not having instances you have to make some sacrifices. Playing vs 100s of other people in an open world, especially with risk involved, is an experience not matched by MW3 even if it has lame graphics and animations. It will probably be another 10-20 years or more before a game is in development with as good of graphics as MW3 but in an instance-free open world. Instanced MMORPGs totally suck for the most part and seem to get most of their bucks from dangling carrots but I wouldn't say that Guildwars does that. In fact, I have overall enjoyed Guildwars over MW3.

Lob grenade, lob grenade, lob grenade, shoot. Lob grenade, lob grenade, lob grenade, shoot. Call in air strike. Rinse and repeat. No offense OP but if your going to compare any FPS to a MMO please pick a much better one even in sarcasm
At least if you're going to criticize it, criticize the main way it's easy: hitscan weaponry.
Don't criticize it in a way where you try to sound like you've "solved" the game, but describe a random noob's gameplay strategy.
But yeah, Planetside is a much more apt example, given that it's an MMO, a FPS, and has a fantastic progression system (lateral progression instead of vertical power accumulation.)

I've been saying for years, if you want real PVP play online FPS's - the OP is absolutely right, they have been doing it better than MMO's, and are very nearly able to classify themselves as MMO if they wanted to (although I think they want to stay clear of the preconceptions that the genre brings with it).
I am not a fan of PVP. I love PVE. It irritates me when devs try to mix the two into a single game. My PVP experience is basically limited to people ganking, camping, exploiting, and baiting because it amuses them to irritate other people, not because it gets them any benefit or ranking.
The only real thing they are missing is the persistent world, which Planetside 2 will bring back to the genre.

Hell, I'll never understand.

perhaps even Tribes Ascend will show the error of his judgement. But the OP is just his opinion.
Tribes Ascend isn't an MMO, but is completely awesome.
