    Agreed

Come to think of it,  this of it we might be looking at some of the arena store items...purchasers of the preorder will just be sampling some of it .. Then this would make sense.

Extremely disappointed that they've gone the route of charging more to the EU and UK

    Current exchange rate:
    150.00 USD = 95.89 GBP (not £129.99)
    129.99 GBP = 203.33 USD

That means they are trying to charge me 33% more than my American counterparts, WTH ?

NOT a happy bunny right now.

I was assuming it would show up in euros for you as it knew where I was logging in from. Sorry it doesn't :( I tried pretending I was German but no luck. Still £'s for me. They are not easily fooled! But  I can't find a price for the other editions in £'s.

The reason the CE's are getting so expensive is that the companies are getting more and more elaborate with their internal event gifts, and press review gifts. nVidia gave away a airsoft Desert Eagle, Halo Reach gave away a small aluminum breifcase with a specially made game controller in it and art books and soundtrack CDs.

So what they have decided to do is put these gifts in their CE boxes, then charge a high price for it, and get the fans to subsidize all the swag they give away to press and give as presents to themselves as pats on the back.

I'm not talking about the public swag you get at E3, I mean the stuff big name reviewrs get as gifts to possibly sway their opinion. It doesn't really work (mostly) but it does get expensive, and they are more then happy to offload that overhead on you, their adoring public.

And please don't turn fanboi crusader like i'm bashing NCsoft, all the publishers do it, and we the customers are now footing the bill.

I agree $60.00 is not cheap but its pretty standard for many online games

Diablo3 is expected to cost 60.00 too

Even for a buy-to-play game, the CE is not worth its cost to me. Oh well. I'll just get the regular box game and buy the miniature Rytlock in-game.

I agree it's more expensive, but add the 20% VAT to that £96 and you're not actually that far off.

The most worrisome thing for me is that they are putting an elite skill into this package.  Skills for money is a slippery slope and that is the exact opposite of what they have said in the past...

A golem that you can use for 5 days... cash shop rental item.  A chalice that gives you PvP points/glory... cash shop pay 2 get PvP points.  A tome that reads as a cash shop item to boost guilds.  Miniatures bleh whatever for some not for some prob cash shop items all fluff and not a problem.

WTF are they doing rolling a skill into this.  Why are they giving items and probably putting items into the cash shop that reward you with something that you should naturally get from PvP'ing.  I am more than a little concerned....

After reading your post I did take a closer look...that does seem worrysome as I am highly against the cash shop model unless it is things strictly for cosmetics.

If the game rewards people who pay more money with items like these in a cash shop, I will not play.

really i don't think that u have to worry about that....

ofc they sound kinda strange on the first look but think about it:

5days bank - what u get from it? a small boost for traveling back...which isn't a huge advantage at all. U save like what? 10minutes?

PvP boost - thing here is we doesn't know how the boost will exactly work. There might be a small advantage for the first few days, like u get lvl 2 faster, but as long as it scaled low, i don't think there will be a problem.

Also the guild tome, again we have no clue how it scales. As long as there is just a small one-time-use effect i don't rly care. It's still B2P and it still (at least i hope so) a very small boost, So almost ignore this fact.

And we also doesn'T know if these items aren't just a 1way-to-use. So u have them once and never again. That way i can life with it.

Miniatur and the skill are way more interesting:

Miniatur's are just for Look, but if u remember on gw1, they do take a huge roll into the econemy (atleast they did in gw1) But still this is just fashion not more.

And the skill, pfff again we know nothing, they wrote: "Summon Mistfire Wolf Elite Skill" So what do we know now? not much ....

Since every1 is getting this skill there is also the chance that the pet isn't even for fighting purpose. So it might be just a town skill like miniaturs "look i have a sweet pet".

Or it may be so underpowered that it's not even worth it to use, except for fashion

I know i hate cash shop too, but right at this point i trust at arenanet that they won't lose there line of sight for what they planned to do. The game looks so awesome and casual friendly, i don't think that they will add a cash shop with high advantages for those players.

Just trust in arenanet and w8, insteed of creating rumors who might never happen :D

For me atleast i am still unsure if Digital Deluxe or normal one. Both offer the high wanted 3days early access and access for the beta events. ^^

My only concern here is if the pre purchase digital version would be available in Asia on the same date as our US and Euro counterparts?

Playing now: Cities: Skyline / Ori and the Blind Forest / Banished

Yeah, I let my bad mood get the better of me and didn't factor in VAT, I don't feel so bad about it now. Would like to see a version without the Rytlock figure and just the book, I love Anets artbooks.

Feel bad because VAT has nothing to do with it.

Yeah, that sucks because I'm British. I think I'll just get the Standard Edition and buy £50 worth of crap on their cash shop. Definitely would need to purchase character slots anyway.

I'll be doing the same though I am tempted by the Rytlock mini, I'll also be unlocking character slots so they'll get a bit more out of me that way :) It's all about value for money and how much value you think the game brings, none of us really now until we've played it extensively, everything I've seen and my 40 minutes play time tells me it should be well worth the box price and more but until release who knows?

One-time use consumables with a CE?!  Are they serious?  Definitely not worth it.

I paid £35 for SWTOR but GW2 is £50 for the basic edition. It's definitely bordering on greed. This is the first time I've had anything bad to say about Anet but this will put alot of people off the game and give a negative light for the game in general.

I don't care if there is no sub its still damn expensive for a PC game.

I don't think I paid £50 for the CE of GW1 and that had art books, a headset and many other things in the physical box and this is just the digital version.

Anet better be ready for a backlash with these prices and adjust accordingly or many people on the fence about this game will be off it and running the other way towards TSW.

Why is that? They do not charge any monthly fees AND there is no cash shop other than one that gives vanity items. So, you paid 35 for TOR and then 15 a month - in three months you have paid 80.00 for TOR while with GW you still only paid 50. So, for 1 year of play in TOR (or any P2P game) you pay a monthly fee PLUS the game price - GW2 is just for the game - they need to make the money back they used in development.

for 13 months of TOR you pay 215.00 to play while with GW2 it is still 50.00. I guess 215 is less than 50 in your math.image

I don't get why people haven't figured out yet.

After being burned by the SWTOR CE I will be buying the Digital CE. I don't need no stinkin statue (though I will say that the GW2 statue is MUCH better looking than the Darth Who Cares statue i got with the SWTOR CE).

One question, by the end of the year how much would you have ended up spending on SWTOR?
