What makes you think a new OP FP and WZ is gonna do jack when even adding an ENTIRELY NEW ZONE in Warhammer Online didn't stem them bleeding of subs?

Because warhammer had lot more problems to deal with that went beyond just adding a new zone? Warhammer nose dived after first month alone where as SWTOR is still holding well in 3 months period.

HAH right... new players joining as the population drops, what you're seeing are existing players rolling new alts after finishing the road to 50 on their previous toon. Zone activity on my server (Helm of Grausch) has dropped dramatically across the board, the imp fleet used to average 250-300 people, now averages 100-120 people, warzone queues are much longer now too and Ilum barely has 20 people- HoG was one of the highest populated servers from Dec to Feb.

I also have toons on Saber of Exar Kun, Swiftusre and Sith Wyrm and see identical results as well.

And let's not forget the sharp drop on Xfire... lol

So, my experience against yours, fair enough.  XFIRE?! seriously? People still use that?

Every MMORPG is AWESOME, until it's released!

Whether or not it will 'save' it (or if it even needs 'saving') i have no idea, but a new operation, flashpoint, warzone, and daily quests as well as the introduction of ranked warzones, implementation of the legacy system, UI customisation, guild banks, implementation of end-game crafting (as it was non-existant before), new gear tiers/items/mounts/pets, significantly improved gear customisation, improved texture quality, aswell as some server wide events before/after the patch and probably a bunch of other stuff is really quite an amazing free patch. If something like that cant 'save' a game then im not sure what really could.

    "Free patch"

    AAHAHAHHAHAHA, I guess that 15 a month doesn't exist.

Face it, after 3 month, you're paying $45 for content that should have been in release.

    Is it worth it?

The only reason SWTOR is still holind subs is because it's still selling 20k copies a week so for every person that quits, they have plenty to take their place. For now.

So EVEN IF the game still has 1.7 million subs, that means at best it's losing 20k subs a week.

You know Hikaru Gullible isnt in the dictionary? You listen to their reports and beleive them whole heartedly when everywhere you go to look at populations or hours played is dwindling daily. for 2 months now only 5 servers have been increasing in size at all. all other 118 US Servers have been decreasing Rapidly and steadily. I have played since beta, I have watched my server and many others go from people everywhere to Ghost towns. So dont feed me EA's regurgitated bull crap to make it look like their shit smells like roses. Even if EA had 1.7 million subs at the end of Feb, that doesnt matter, because I am willing to lay odds based on the server status websites and population statuses being recorded that more than 60% have cancelled their subs, and are just waiting for them to run out. A sub is counted as any account currently with game time on it cancelled or not. So yea while they may have had those numbers because plenty of folks thinking SWTOR would be the Messiah since WoW(I was one of them), the subbed for 3-6-even 12 months(thank god i only did a month at a time). Cancelling their subs still shows an active subscribtion until whenever it runs out. And since they dont issue refunds on unused game time, EA can claim they have all these subs when really all they have is money with empty servers. great for them because they dont care beyond that, but in the long run, SWTOR WILL Decline and settle in around 300k to 500k subs. I dont think it will fail. but it will NEVER be WOW in terms of fluked financial success. No other game will ever do what WoW did. 300k to 1mil is a solid sub base and makes any game money. That is successful. So will SWTOR be successful? yes. will it be the WoW messiah? NO. Will any game ever be? NO.  Is swtor declining yes but only to sit around the 300-500k mark, there will be server merges and then the populations will be based on all the star wars fans who like the game.  plain and simple.

Thank you and have a nice day.

It might help if you all found some game you liked and played instead of worrying about games you do not play. I play SWTOR most days I do not worry about what the population is. I play on the Begeran Colony which is a crowded server I am told so may be I am lucky to see many people while playing. I group, craft and enjoy the game. I feel bad for you all that have nothing better to do but bitch and moan about a game you have given up on. Is your days so empty that you find joy in making fun of a game you no longer wish to play.

That is all just a guess work, i would rather believe the official numbers compared to random forum guys with their own personal vendetta against the game.

And no SWTOR is holding subs because even though PVP is broken, PVE works in SWTOR where as PVE in Warhammer sucked and PVP was broken from day one and by the time they fixed it people were already gone.

Every graph, chart, and statistic show a decline. But if you want to believe EAs vague wording, be my guest

    +1

I am finding groups, finding items I want on the GTN, selling items on the GTN, and I have a thriving guild. Too bad it is dying though right?

I personally love the game. Is it perfect? no

Yes, 16K WOW players use it, keeping it at #3

Also STO players use it, and it showed that it grew in users following its change to F2P, although dropped again since after a month or so of being F2P

It seems to represent the popularity of all games quite good, but I guess the drop in SWTOR is just fubar?

I am pretty sure i know what it means. You are trying to refute what i said by inserting irrelevant and uneuivalent argument of 'milking me for 15 bucks' when that is not what the discussion is really about.

No he is simply pointing out that EA have a financial incentive to spin the numbers in a positive light. Why would that mean he is anti p2p ? I thought you said you had bought SWTOR recently, is the PvP better here?

PVP is the last reason why i bought SWTOR. And no i look at these forums just merely for discussions even though they get heated at times. I don't have that 'forum PVP mentality'.

Seems to me that hating a game is THE hip thing around here.  So many people want to see this game fail, and I understand. EA is the boogyman, and I get that too. What I am still not able to wrap my head around is the whole obsession about watching this game, or any other fail.

I am not going to defend SWTOR, hell I am not even speaking specifically about SWTOR, but just the vibe in general on these forums.

Don't play a game if you don't like it, even flame away if you bought it and feel burned, but damn, some people just cannot seem to let a bad game--any game--go.

  • dougmysticeydougmysticey Member Posts: 1,176

Yet another lame hate drone, crazed mob, doom and gloom thread. Go figure.

Monday night, 9:30 pm CST, I am playing with a friend. The server load is heavy and there are 178 people on Dromund Kaas and 200+ on the imperial fleet station. Seems fine to me.

And those that think that the population dropped this week are drones chasing the hate bandwagon. In reality, it went up dramatically due to 7 day trial accounts. That is not to say they will stay but just pointing out how wrong the speculation crowd is in the assessment.

The reality is, you all really have no idea. Instead of hating on a game and contunually putting down those that like it why not go be constructive and spend that energy on a game you like.

Rubber necking at a car crash that has not even happened yet.

I have noticed that the masters of hate and doom and gloom have even started seeping into the cracks of the purple elite armor that was shielding GW2. And here I thought that one might be mostly immune, at least until release.

I like and respect a lot of the great veteran and avid MMO fans here but I wonder more and more why I keep coming. The constructive, helpful threads with good feedback, beta key trades, deep, good discussions are overwhelmed by garbage like this thread here.
