Most people dont care whether a game they dont like succeeds, they just, you know, spend time playing games they like instead of whining about games they dont.

Only whiney haters/fanboys care whether a game they dont like succeeds or not.

completely untrue, especially when it comes to people who actually care about the mmorpg genre progressing instead of retarding (which is what it is doing now with TOR and other crapware mmo's).

Nice correct usage of retarding there, don't often see that on a forum, kudos from me.

if that was untrue, then "haters" would actually wish the game improves for good instead of failing.

If they care to. Considering how many of these lately haven't lived up to their potential it is only a matter of time before at least some investors push these companies to start developing in other areas outside mmos. Such as facebook games, apps, etc.

I really don't think any of these mmos failing is good for the genre in general. Least not to those looking to potentially invest in them.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

The thing with hype is that is get's people really excited. 'Fans' buy into the game so much, and they 'just know' it's going to be 'the next big thing' that when they're at the subscription page with their wallet out they think

"Oh F*** YES I'm going to save 2.99 cents, F*** YES! I'm so oging to be playing this game for the rest of my life!1"

And they spring for the 3 month, 6 month, year whatever.

They'll be counted as subscripers long after their poor little hearts have been broken and they disappear.

What you have now defending the game, which by all objective standards is  bland, subpar, overhyped, genric trash. Is 'fans' who bought into the hype hook line and sinker , who are so emotionally and finantially invested CE / year subscriptions. That they will defend EA/Bioware no matter what. They're lower than shill employees, they're really unwitting suplicants who were manipulated and defrauded not just defending a game anymore but defending themselves and their foolish actions

...or they simply enjoy the game. I don't know why some of you on both sides of the issue feel the need to demonize or insult others so much simply because they have different tastes than yourself.

I will never understand the rationale of belittling someone simply because they do not feel the same way about a video game as yourself.

and 'haters' do the same crap, hate on games just to try and prove they were right. see, heres the thing. i don't fall into any of your dumb stereotypes.

i purchased the standard edition, i pay month by month and i still enjoy the game.

then again, i don't cry if every single game isn't made exactly the way i want it , either.

but speaking of being "emotionally attached" that's kind of funny considering a lot of you 'haters' are pretty damn EMO when it comes to getting your way with games.

i like gaming in general, i like all sorts of types of mmorpg's and i never want to see any of them fail.

its funny to watch the train wreck that is the mmorpg.com gaming forums.

    Bingo.

There a number of folks that cant stand this game, and yet spend a lot of time, in this forum, to flame it. I will never for the life of me understand this.  I have heard of little pecker syndrome, but geez.....talk about overkill.

A game like GW2, or AA do nothing for me....but I sure tdont feel the need to go over to those forums, and whine cause they dont have what I like, or wish doom n gloom. It makes no sense to me.....others enjoy those type of games, so who am I to say they shouldnt.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

    Sure... I bet you have!

You can't understand why people enjoy talking about the critical and potentially financial success/failure of the biggest MMO launch... ever?  I would suggest that maybe you really do, since you're here responding and commenting yourself.

    "Different tastes in games"

Is that what they're calling brand loyalty these days?

completely untrue, especially when it comes to people who actually care about the mmorpg genre progressing instead of retarding (which is what it is doing now with TOR and other crapware mmo's).

I basically want TOR to fail for two reasons:

    A) As the above poster stated, I am tired of playing WoW clones (in TOR's case the term is insulting -- for World of Warcraft). The genre needs to move on. A hybrid sandbox/themepark is just what the doctor ordered. The entire focus of an endgame doesn't need to be a handful of badly-designed raids and 3 WZs. Things like RvR, incentivized world PvP, player housing/towns/castles, true appearance tabs, etc. can keep folks busy for months. TOR's endgame is like a joke.

    B) I want to punish Bioware/EA for their lies. I want TOR to erase all the financial success that ME3 brings, and instead become a money drain for the company. Why do I want this? Revenge, of course. Revenge for getting suckered into their lies and bull**** pre-launch; revenge for the $150 I spent on a worthless CE. TOR is trash and, what's more, the designers behind it are trash. I like it when trash gets tossed out. I wish everyone involved in this travesty would end up on the streets. Of course, we know that won't be true -- they're just migrate to the next Grade-F-MMO-masquerading-as-a-AAA-game the same way they moved from WAR to TOR.

I'm always astounded at how imbecfiles can lose a company millions doing something not-so-complicated badly, and then turn around and get new jobs performing the exact same tasks. Maybe the genre needs a little fresh blood? The current crop of designers outside Blizzard seems like crap.
