Their "Mail Trading" adds another layer of security to prevent the rare kinds of trading exploits (and scams) a few people managed to consistently use in the previous ver (and in other RPGs as well). That should be a good enough reason for anyone. I'm sure there will be some other means for people to compare gear directly and show off their stats in real time if that was a concern. Everything else that falls short "because of it" can barely be registered as a real inconvenience. So it takes a couple seconds more? Whoopty Frig

God save us all.
It worked fine in Guild Wars 1.
Where you just post in chat what items you were selling for what price.
Afterwards you just meet up and trade. It is very simple and I've probably traded thousands of times.
In fact part of the time I played Guild Wars I was maining a merchant who would buy items low and sell for higher.
Made 30-60 platinum an hour doing that. Though there are slow times, but you just have to know when people are online.
Since items of nearly identical stats could be found anywhere it became more of a value for visual and rare goods.
Stopped playing before the War in Kryta and Winds of Change events in game though so not sure how much has changed.
