Its a consumer, business related thing, not a who pollutes or pillages the most natural resources thing. It's on the Forbes website .. duh.

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

Duh?  If that were the case, 80% of the nations health clubs would have been on the ballot, NOT banks and large businesses.

If you're going by Forbes in general, it would be about who brought investors the least money.  EA would not lose that fight by anyone's imagination.

    Duh.

I'm sure Bank of America and Halliburton doesn't have the same following of nutballs with far too much time on their hands

    you sound so utterly ignorant....

people who frequent this site really need an eye-opener.

it is sad and pathetic how serious people take 'video-games', then talk about 'world issues' as if they are less important in comparison.

    So you agree with me

    my apology.

    i was the ignorant one.

    it seems pretty clear now.

i was talking with roomates as i skimmed through this thread and posted that, and the words must of computed differently in my feeble mind when i posted the reply to your comment.

again, my apolgy. bad troll! bad!

How is any of this bad? It took EA from a small American publisher ie Electronic Arts to a global corporation and thats has never happened before has it? Gamers and their ridiculous petty grievances because someone took away their precious toys.

Gamers dont care if EA went from small firm to huge company or if they would stay small or develop into medium sized ,etc

Gamers and GAMERS and they don't give a damn about investment returns , sales ,etc  and that's just normal.

    Why should they?

Investors and managment or eventually EA workers should think about stuff like that not consumers. Consumers should think about THEIR OWN well being not about corporation well being.

Though if you read all my rebuttals in that post they all stand so if you are going to criticise a company business pratices get your facts right. Life is full of disappointments with the life and death process but that is progression gamers should just get used to it and stop bleating "you broke my favorite toy".

Also companies sell out for various reasons my company has just been bought out at first we were really pissed off bt then it energed the boss had been wanting to sell out for a couple of years for personal issues but could not find the right buyers.

    You still don't get it?

    Gamers does NOT care.

Obviously business is business and companies sell for various reasons ,of course most of times cause someone offers realy good money for them (like Turbine was it 400 mln $?) of course there are diffrent reasons as well.

Thing is consumers does not care and even more he should not care about business side of things or company well doing.  Corporate suits also don't care about consumers other that if they still want and do spend money on their prioducts and that is normal cause that is 'suits' job.

    Simple.

Same as it is not consumer job to care about business side of things.

Consumer / gamer want to get product he/ she wants and that's it. Also very simple.

So you may qq on forums that gamers should stop qq ,but that won't change a single thing.

Similar as only qq-ing about bad business practices if gamers still buy this company product also will not change a single thing.

EA didnt get voted the worst company because they made bad games. It was voted as a company as a whole. If instead of making games they were a bank, or any other main company that provides essetial services to people outside of gaming the country would have been worst than it is today with their bad practices. So no, making games didnt award EA the golden poo. It was their bad business. Business is business whether you make games or houses.

After they acquired Westwood or whatever, the game got... well, unremarkable.  Thank Blizzard for SC&SC2.

Anything new here? Hmmm... Nope. o/

All I can do is shake my head. Yea, EA is an evil game company blah blah. But the worst company in America? I'm trying to keep faith in my fellow Americans but damn its getting harder and harder to do so. There are plenty of other companies out there that deserve that title that go far beyond destroying your favorite video game.

People who are concerned with actual worl issues don't vote in these things. So It's no suprise that a company that young people deal with in their lives "won". Personally I thnk EA is doing it's part to dumb down America and is a deserving candidate. They reach into the homes of millions and shape the minds of children and young adults. They give them the message that it's OK to deliver a sub par product, and that creativity and originality should take a backseat to profitiability. EA is driving our countgry one step closer to Mike Judge's dystopian vision of Idiocracy one bad title at a time. Their repsonse was pathetic at best. Instead of taking the award as a sign that they need to change something they basically say that you idiots are still buying it so we will keep making crapp games.

2012 is a funny year.  It kind of speaks volumes about the American people when they vote a video game company as the worst company in the country.  But I guess in hindsight, the majority of this voting was done online (where numbers can easily be skewed or made up) and if you are taking the time to vote online, chances are, you find a good amount of entertainment online - hence why online gamers would be raging so hard against EA.

I believe EA is messed up.  I only hear horror stories about my friends and coworkers who have worked at EA.  Everybody knows EA is only in it for the money.

I will never buy another EA product again, not after swtor and warhammer online before it.  But I wouldn't say they are the worst company in America.  EA never destroyed lives like the banks did.

Perhaps they are the worst from the ordinary consumers point of view. A lot of people have personal reasons not to like what they are doing.

From a moral point of view other companys are of course worse. But often such companys are hurting a small minority of people or people far away.

Maybe most people would agree a company selling weapons to dictators that are killing innocent people or to warlords that are using children as soldiers is worse. But maybe not from a narrow consumer point of view. Maybe the customers buying weapons are satisfied with the products and the customer service. Maybe people working for the company are also satisfied with the sallary, benefits and working conditions. So it depends on who you are asking... Some people are not thinking about the problems of the world or essential moral values.

Amen to that.  If you want to see a company that truly deserves the title of "worst company", look no further than the people that masterminded a major economic downfall:

However, as far as multimedia companies go, I'd say EA definitely deserves this label.

Much like Universal-Vivendi and Infogrames/ATARI, EA is out to pull a game of "snatch, grab, and run" with any established franchise or game license they can afford to acquire, and squeeze whatever they can out of it before people realize how much it sucks.

Here's a link to a little of Infogrames' history on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infogrames_Entertainment,_SA

I can only wonder how much longer EA will continue to churn out their crap before they take a similar plunge.

EA is indeed a horrible, soulless company....and I generaly avoid thier games like the plague. Really, the Consumerist should probably divide the contest up into categories and have an award for each caregory.

The sad thing is that there are SO many companies these days that are deserving of such an award. Nominating one as "worst" really shouldn't take the spotlight off the others.

I don't think too many people would disagree with the concept thar EA is deserving of a "Golden Poo" award in the category of Game Publishers/Entertainment Companies.
