Common MMO forum clich

tixylixtixylix Member UncommonPosts: 1,288

I always hear...

"It gets better at higher levels" and it never does.

"It's only a beta" and it never changes until launch because a beta is when the game is almost complete.

"This or that feature is coming" and it never does

"You didn't play past this time, so you have no right to judge the game" ... like Oh I'm sorry I didn't know I had no opinion on the game until I watsed 100 hours of my life lol.

"This MMO will kill WoW and be the best MMO ever"

I also love people who don't know how to PVP claim the game is so unbalanced, when in reality they suck.

"There's no innovation in today's games". Followed by "Why can't they make a game like x or y".

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

"LOL, 60 dollars for a game plus 15 bucks a month isnt alot of money LOL, get a job or a BETTER job LOL"..

(Was just gonna post "LOL" alot but decided to add it into context, those three letters are used more than prayers in church)

When asking about any given percieved problem in games: "Maybe you just suck at this game".  I always get a mental image of Bart Simpson typing this response.

Ballerinas are always on their toes. Why don't they just get taller ballerinas?

"I've been pvping for over 5 years so my opinion matters"

Always funny, any real pvp vet was playing EQ Rallos Zek or Ultima Online back in 1999. If not then you were probably playing Counter Strike 1.5 or Starcraft. If you wern't playing those then you aren't a pvp vet.

    "Learn 2 Play"

from people playing FOTM classes defending unbalanced mechanics.

    "That game is dead"

when it has over 1000 subscribers. These people are post wow gamers with a mcdonalds complex.

Whenever someone supports WoW they compare it to McDonalds in some way:

"These people are post wow gamers with a mcdonalds complex."

Here Here, I never really liked forced sides of factional PvP or the inability to do anything to annoying jerks on your own faction. The phrases "You and what army" comes to mind to people who think they are gods of PvP in those older games, or "If you talk the talk you gotta walk the walk (back to your corpse)"

I really miss the guild vs guild political system of EQ and the pk vs anti-pk system of UO (to a lesser extent though).

Its the people that kept me in MMO's (the communities). And the communities often include your enemies. Its kinda funny how many people i communicate with that member of Rival guilds in past games. (then again there are a few that just can't seem to let go of their grudges)

    Vet one upmanship during forum pvp.  For example;

Poster one - "I have been playing for five years"

Poster two - "I have been playing for six years!"

Poster one - "I was In Beta!"

Poster two- "I was in Alpha!"

Also any use of the words Noob, carebare or anybody who still says  "Go back to WoW!"  Six years ago are on the phone, they want their expressions back.

That one is a gem. A title that probably fewer than 5K people ever played, yet every one of them ends up posting on the forums here.

I also like people who rattle off their MMORPG pettigree, usually with a list of 25 games or so, makes you wonder if they ever really liked any of them since their tenure in them had to be short.

haha that too. Its the same folks that complain about the lack of sandboxes and then list 20 themeparks theyve played in the past 3 months.

...which then they state how all they want is an mmo that has all the best features of 5 different mmos that took 5+ years to make, each. Then say how that isnt asking too much...

Really, fewer than 5000 ever played Meridian 59?  I guess I am special then, although I admit I didn't play it long as there wasn't much to do I thought.  I do remember though seeing another player for the first time and running away as scared as can be LOL.  Only real memory I have of it anymore though...

As for my favorite cliche though, I like "But the developer of game XXX really cares about the players not the money"

GW2 "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind"
