What the hell is all this pollution with "Tera is wonderful"-threads?

RasputinRasputin Member UncommonPosts: 602

I just came from Youtube videos to see what all the fuss is about, and what do I see?

A frikking new WoW-clone, monsters waiting around to get killed, that magically don't see you, even if you are almost within reaching distance, because of some magic aggro range, that has no correlation with what we as humans understand as reality.

Add on top of that questing with exclamation marks (or something similar in korean or whatever asian country this is from), and it is goodnight for this game.

Thank you for your attention, and if you are a TERA spammer, then please stop. There is nothing new here.

This isn't going to end well...

    "Loading screens" are not "instances".
Your personal efforts to troll any game will not, in fact, impact the success or failure of said game.

People like Tera and think it is wonderful,  others dislike it.

People like GW2 and think it is wonderful, others dislike it.

I can keep on going and list will get very long..so who is right and who is wrong here?

Probably not, but I don't care. People hype themselves up on game after game, and complain afterwards that the genre is stagnant, when they can't even see, that they are the problem, when they support the same crap time and again, based on some nice video or some nice graphics, covering up the same stale, lame gameplay, that has been by now copied for more than a decade - gameplay that was lame when it was invented.

And I just came on this thread to see a 32 year old american whining about a game.

    Who?

Im neither 32 nor an american (you can try to point out "gnaf, AK" on a map please), in case you refer to me.

So, if i'm not mistaken, you are asking why on TERA board there are people talking about TERA in a positive way?

    Am I right?

    Or did I miss something?

I see TERA dominating the front page "Current Forum Activity" field, together with SWTOR (well, not so much anymore), D3 and GW2.

That is the pollution I am talking about, and which I don't understand, based on what I have seen. People have dumped every single clone since WoW, so hard, that they are all but ghost towns today, and they continue hyping new clones? Why? Stop and think for a second instead, maybe?

So you are upset that people enjoy something you don't? because if that is the case i wonder how you survive outside of forums. You must be upset all day long.

So you think TERA is a WoW clone? Well, you just killed your own thread.

Also people talking about TERA, are all playing it, it's not hype, we've been playing it for over a damn month.  And a select few of us for several months over in Korea.

No, I am upset, that they will THINK they will enjoy something, hype it and get more people onboard the hype-wagon, buy the game en-masse, proving to the producers, that there is a market, and then dumping it hard, to jump on the next bandwagon.

Resulting in the MMO-world suffering on the 13th year to date from a allout domination of EQ-clones.

  • PivotelitePivotelite Member UncommonPosts: 2,145

But we are playing the game and have for months, GW2 is hype, nobody has played it for an extended period, we have played TERA and we like it so we discuss it.

This is where your thread is flawed...and the whole WoW clone argument.

From your post history I notice a tendency toward negativity but I also read some intellinget comment like "UO - pre-trammel. The best game ever made, one of the only true MMO's." so i give you the benefit of doubt and i'm not going to call you troll, but you can't really call Tera a WOW clone.

Ok granted, the quest system is cloned from wow, but really if you liked UO do you really care about quests?

  • PurgatusPurgatus Member Posts: 342

Well, it is the TERA forums.

Does it seem strange that it is populated with people who enjoy the game?

Don't tell me you are still hoping for a UO successor after the end of EQ clones?

I gave up from some time now.

Did you post a thread like this over the GW2 pollution?  Or is this a special occassion?

I see GW2 more in front than tera. I wonder how come you didn jump on GW2 for that.

well why don't you just tell us all how to think then? that'll be so much better. or i know. we could form our own opinions after having played the game, while you rant about this one video you saw. i like that plan better.

OP compared TERA to WoW.  If you think TERA is anything like WoW you are either a terrible gamer or did not play TERA for more than 10 minutes. /Thread.

I didn't play the game at all. It takes a split second to dissect the gameplay from a youtube video.

  • PivotelitePivotelite Member UncommonPosts: 2,145

But WoW is tab target, auto-aim and uses a mouse..TERA uses a reticle and manually aims all your attacks, the gameplay is nothing alike, you can't even target a mob and all attacks can be an AoE.

And..why do you care what they do with their money? If you say because it tells devs to make more crap games, then stop drinking the koolaid.

You may not like the Nissan Cube, or Domino's Pizza, or even Sony products..all fine. Some do and it's fine if they learn it's not what they wanted.

Get over yourself, we all learn our own way but listening to a whining rant will never help educate anyone...shouldn't been a little more constructive IF that was your real intention. (Which I highly doubt)
