This forum should have a breathalizer requirement before Post Message can be pressed. Some of these rants just seem like they are from people who have had to many jagermeister shots while watching youtube.

Ha. Let me tell you; I've missed out on some damned decent gaming time because of youtube vids that just turned me off. In one of the cases, it ended up being an mmo that I spent well over 2 years playing.
While not my cup of tea whatsoever, TERA is a very well done title, and it doesn't surprise me that so many people are enjoying their time in game.

I have reached the max level for the Open beta - and am eagerly awaiting the launch of the game. I find it incredible fun, and exciting - especially the healing aspects where tanks actually take damage and you do have to dodge attacks and move around, rather than just spam through 1-5 - you have to aim heals, place down HoTs, etc.
I find it funny that you are angry other people enjoy something you don't. Your life must be miserable.
Very true... let those who enjoy a game enjoy their game, and let us (those who enjoy gw2) enjoy our game. We may differ as to whether we like each other's game and whether we think ours is better. Regardless, I so no issue with allowing people the enjoyment of playing a game they like (even if its SWTOR).

yes there are those horribel ! on quests and its' mostly kill x quests at that. And that's pretty much where it ends. Now, if you bothered to ask people or just read a bit as to "why" they are enjoying it, me included, then maybe you wouldn't come off as a troll, no?
Still, your point is well taken in that some people won't bother to research, will jump in and play to lvl 3 and then quit. It's a shame that the game opens up at 20. Yes, it does, not great but that's the way it is.
The BAMS (Big Ass Mobs) give the game a monster hunter feel and the ffa pvp on the pvp servers make the game feel (to me) like a less brutal Lineage 2.

IN any case, if people would just read a bit they can decide for themselves. As a point of note, I made a WoW character at launch and over the years played to a whopping lvl 27 or so.
I dont' like wow. I really like Tera. So why would I play a wow clone if I could play a well funded "WoW" with years worth of content, huge developer backing, and huge following of players? Unless of course Tera wasn't really a WoW clone under the hood.
FFA pvp and BAMS are kind of what make this game.

OP looked at youtube, thought it looked a lot like WoW. Im now looking on Youtube, and it looks beautiful graphically, but looks like WoW to me too. Kinda.
I can at least see his point. I cant understand the some of the rest of you. You keep saying its nothing like WoW yet provide no examples on how its different. Now Im not saying it is like WoW because I havent played it. And I have very little knowledge of the game itself.
So an honest question. How is it so different from WoW? You can say its not but if you dont provide any examples as to why then your comments are even more baseless than the OPs.
I'm so confused by this OP.. I agree that UO pre-trammel was one of the best games to date. But TERA is nothing like wow once you get going in the game. To judge the game by playing in the newbie zone and quitting is bad enough, but to judge the game by a freakin youtube video? cmon now.. I have to say in closed beta I got to lvl 18, and I still wasn't sure about the game. However, after playing open beta this weekend and getting to lvl 29.. I can honestly say that this game gets so much better as you progress through it. Please do NOT come to the TERA forum and claim to understand this game after watching a Youtube video. You are what is wrong with the gaming community UO fan or not.

I'm glad you want what's best for us. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that since your on the TERA forums telling us the game is crap you really mean it.
Like, super cereal mean it, not just I want negative attention type of mean it.
I mean it's not like EME hosted 5 CBTs over 10 weeks, left forums for feedback. Oh then there was this three to four day Open Beta that people must have not paid attention to because I guess we just don't get it.
Even after all these chances to know, we still aparently don't know.

tell me a game your looking foward to and ill rip it apart. It doesnt matter which game you pick, even if its the same one I am looking foward to, I can rip it to shreds. If you take me up on my offer please make it halfway challeneging for me becasue GW2 and TSW is far to easy to rip a new one. I can debate anything wheather I agree with it or not .

Please show me an MMO that has "correlation with what we as humans understand as reality" aggro-ranges, because as yet I have never come across one in the past 13 years of playing MMO's.
Your post basically says you are unhappy about other players being happy, there's a word for people that do that.

Yeah....things around here are...funny...that way - I mean going by the terms...the OP is definately outside the boundaries on both negativity and encouraging negative comments - and yet it stays.

Having played Tera for a way too large amount of this weekend (with my friends and I deciding to pre-order it last night). Tera may look like WoW in videos but the gameplay is completely not WoW. Everyone already knows about the fact there is no tabbed targetting. The game is beautiful (both style and technically). It is a bit oversexualized in some spots but overall it's pretty.
Interestingly I have not read a single quest dialog in the game. I generally get quest, immediately dismiss dialog, go do stuff. The draw is how fun the combat is. Watching a warrior fight is amazing (very fast paced combat).
The crafting is a bit tedious (you need harvests, drops from mobs, and items purchased from vendors).
At level 20 my friends and I ran across a giant rock 'egg' in valley of the titans. One of them decided to attack it. it unfurled into a giant rock spider that proceeded to wreak havoc on the group. From the rolling up and rolling over people, to jumping up in the air and slamming down on people, to the super rapid frontal attack that was a like jackhammer. Needless to say we died very very fast but it was a blast to watch.
1) Combat - Very very different from WoW (think first person shooter meets fantasy MMO). Melee classes are a bit like playing God of War.
2) Questing - Very similar to WoW.
3) Tradeskills - more involved than WoW (multiple group members harvesting from the same node is a nice touch).
4) World Bosses - A LOT cooler than WoW (sorry for the cooler, but that sums it up).
5) Classes are a mish mash of WoW classes (ie, Warrior is similar to WoW rogue, Mystic is a mashup of warlock and priest, etc).
6) Graphics - Much better than WoW. The difference is night and day.
Tera is a lot of what I wished Aion and Final Fantasy xiv had been (and what they promised in a lot of cases).

When you see a small gray skull icon to the side of the name, the mob is a BAM when you see the gray icon + a red icon is a rare spawn.
They are lot stronger but they drop better items.

Wow i guess all these mmorpgs sites and game review can all just quit their jobs guys. Here is someone who can know how a entire game works after watching one youtube video. Amazing where has this talent been hiding all these years?
Different combat, completely different art style, no faction instead of faction, there is guild wars, better graphics (from a techinical stand point), and a political system. Unless you want to count the standard of most theme park mmorpgs than everythign woudl look like WoW becaue all theme park have the same basic structure.
You know the slave owners thought they were doing what was best for the slaves too by enslaving them.... =X
