Halo 1024x768x32bit with all the settings on the higest with Antialiasing 8x and Anisotropic filtering 8x with no hiccups...  this card hasn't had one bump yet!

I've thrown everything I could at it and it's still fighting bad... and hard!

It supports anywhere from PC3200 and lower... if I got a slower ram then my PC3200 would run at the PC2100 speeds...  image

    I  just got my videocard to 500/1000 :)  Not bad!-=[ STAFF ]=-Djin@MMORPG.com

ok... but i most likely wont be overclocking til i get more comfortable with the whole build ur own pc thing, which im still worried about, cuz i actually have enough to buy it now. so gefore 5600 ultra 128 or regular 5600 with 256? also, would i normally need to buy some cables or something when buying a pc, or do all the parts come with the cords needed?

I've tried all those "power demos" and nothing can touch my 500/1000 5900!

My videocard is faster then the 5950 Ultra.  Their speeds are 400/950,  mine are 500/1000 :)

    1Ghz RAM baby!

    wow thats going quick

    you still doing it?

    image

  • DjinDjin Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 3,263

Yeah... my videocard has a temp gauge on it so if it gets to hot it will automaticly slow down to keep it from frying... cool eh?

eVGA is an awesome company (I think).  Also they have good memory they are using... I can overclock it pretty high...  I could go higher... but there's nothing that really is pushing the limits of my videocard,  so what's the point? :)

    should i get the 5200.....or the 5600?

the 5600 takes a while longer, because of the extra cost...

    image

  • DjinDjin Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 3,263

The 5600 is a toned down version of the 5900.  Slower RAM chips and slower over all speed...

If I was you I would try to get the 5700.  Nvidia made that one to replace the 5600.

One of my super genius friends says Radeons are way better then GeForce's.  He told me something it had something to do with GeForcemakers, making shortcuts and telling everyone it could do things it couldn't. IS this true or just a myth, my friend is usually right.  If this is true, i'll be thinking of changing my card to a Radeon in the future because for a long while I have been using GeForce parts.

  • SerienSerien Member CommonPosts: 8,460

so whats the most economically correct radeon?

the 9600 is a good 100 bucks extraimage

my 2 cents on vid cards

nvidia and ati are always 1 up'n eachother so go with your gut feeling.  If you feel that your sacificing power for money, then go with more power.

id go with a Fx 5600 256 mb

http://www.amamax.com/intoge5625dd2.html  (donno if id buy it, just some random site i found off of www.pricewatch.com )

if you have more cash go Fx 5900

    So yea, THERE EAT IT!

am i not correct when i mention that i head some tests proved the 128 better than the 256?

    i mean....its a whole $20 more! *gasp*

    lol

i believe that the 128 ultra is a better buy than the regular 256. faster memory, or something like that. and as far as ati vs nvidia, it seems to me ati beats nvidia up to the 9600 and 5700, which ive heard nothing but good things about. i really need to get my pc so i can answer these better....

so which one should i get?

    i was thinking...

maybe i can like not get a good one, and just go to cheapguys computers once ive saved another 200 bucks and pick one up..

    eh?

Heres been my deal with computers.

Whenever I buy a WHOLE new system I go all out because I know 6 months down the road I dont wanna have to pick up a new vid card, more ram ect ect ect.  If you wanna get a killer system, just buy it now, or when you have the $$$$.  If i sacrifice power for money, 6 months down the road I probably wont spend the money then either.

If you need a system now, get it, if not I'd just wait till you can get everything you want.  Why waste cash on something your going to replace?  Ya know?
