No... I know how to setup a wireless hub. :)  It's not hard,  plus you can change the channels of your hub too...  you can do so much...

I have the 5900 version.  I can overclock it to the 5950 Ultra speeds easily...  500mhz/1000mhz

but can you to the refresh rateimage

  • DjinDjin Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 3,263

My refresh rate stays at 85Hz no matter what the core/memory speed is.

So yes, I can even get the refresh rate that fast. :)

Murt, it's like you forgot who you're talking to... :) image

Is all ddr-2100 ram basically the same ? wondering because at times I see the same amount of ddr-ram with almost $20 in price. Thanks in advance

  • SerienSerien Member CommonPosts: 8,460

    the first part yea

if it says DDR PC2100 ram, then all of that that says PC2100 ram next to it IS the same

but all DDR is not the same

    there are many...pc2100, pc2700, pc3200, pc3500, pc400

not quite sure if some of those numbers are accurate...but the higher, the more it's gonna cost

the difference isn't that notable unless you are overcloking

if you are thinking about upgrading the ram on your mobo, check out the fsb, go by the mhz...get that type of ram because even though others are ddr, they may not be the same speed ddr....

ddr is just a domain like sdr and rdr...it's like a race, inside it you have different classes (mmorpg thinkingimage)

All DDR266, or PC2100 RAM, is NOT the same. Some of the difference in cost is just due to different manufacturers... some charge more than others (kind of like Nike charging more for shoes than Reebok). But their actually are differences in quality, and in speed. Yes, that's right... some PC2100 RAM is faster than other PC2100 RAM. This is due mostly to the quality of the chips, and is expressed in the latency and other timings. The timing ratings on a stick of ram let you know how fast the chips work internally... PC2100 just refers to how fast it transfers info to the rest of the system. The latency for RAM is measured in nano seconds (I think), and the smaller then number, the faster it is. You will see lots of ram with a CAS latency of 2.5... some with a 3... and some with a 2. The ones with a latency of 2 ns will usually be a bit more expensive... because they are faster. There are usually five numbers assosiated with the RAM's internal speed, but a website may not list all of them. If they do, it will look something like this:

    Timings = 2-3-3-6 1T

The smaller the numbers, the faster the memory can run. hope this helps a little.

By the way, the naming of DDR RAM can be a bit confusing. PC2100 and DDR266 are the SAME SPEED. DDR266 stands for the Mhz (clock speed), PC2100 refers to the bandwidth(2.1 Gb / s).

Right now the approved standards for RAM speed are: PC1600 (ddr200), PC2100 (ddr266), PC2700 (ddr333), and PC3200 (ddr400). There are faster sticks on the market, but they are not an approved standard yet so the quality and reliability will vary... depending how fast you run it.

    grrrr

but check the highest ur mobo supports...get the one you already have though

because if you get a different speed...let's say u have a mobo like mine

    supports pc2700 and 3200

if i have 2700 and i go out and buy 3200 paying 10 bucks more than what i would have if i had just bought 2700 again

the 3200 speed degrades to match the 2700

so go with what u have..unless u take it out and switch out all the ram
