Please don't be another one of those mindless zombies that get sucked into fancy lights and a neat name for a PC... I'm not calling you mindless, I'm just saying, if you can... build a PC yourself...
You'll save TONS! Um... WTF did I want to say...
Atari wasn't the first... and uh...
*EDIT*
Oh yeah... Gunblade, I have a 5950 Ultra and Battlefield Vietnam runs like a dime... when you use any sort of filters, it kills the game... EA has said this is an on-going issue... but I can do 1600x1200 max detail... Looks good... runs nice.
With the graphics card, I really couldn't make a choice for you, but to to clarify it a little here's a small comparison:
Radeon 9800 Pro: Tried and tested. Framerates comparable to X800 Pro (in current games). Utilises ATI's excellent anti-aliasing/anisotropic filtering features.
Radeon X800: Newer; semi-consumer tested. Slower than 9800 Pro in current games. Offers graphics rendering technology for future games (Does Everquest 2 utilise these?). Also has same anti-aliasing/anisotropic filtering engine as 9800 Pro.
Nvidia 6800 series: Newer, largely untested. Limited availability for moderate to high-end models. Performance comparable to similar X800 series cards. Anti-aliasing/anisotropic filtering results in severe framerate reduction. Quality of anti-aliasing is slightly higher than that offered by ATI IMHO.
With regard to the Alienware machines. As far as I know they are well built computers, and really do push the most processing power out of the machine as possible, but they also come with extortionately high prices. Building one yourself with similar features would be much cheaper if you can do it.
Hahaha, that's not a bad idea man. I've been struggling with the idea of getting some round cables, but I got 5 rolls of duct tape in my cabinet! You're a genius Djin!
Go to PCMECH.com and read a few things about building your own and you'll find out that it is pretty easy to do. Remember to eliminate bottlenecks if you can...
I'm on my third custom build PC, and after my dad (who is also an avid gamer) saw that my custom build could outperform his Velocity Micro system and I paid about a quarter of what he did for his, I'm now building all his machines as well.
Hey....I have been trying to get a new computer for the longest....is that legit site (ibuypower.com). I mean why are those machines so cheap.....I have been to dell and hp and they are taxin like a grand for a gaming machine....whats the deal?
Dell takes advantage of computer newbies and charges them extra for all this crap that you basically do not need at all, and they like double the computer hardware priices
Well the machine I have now is a 1.something celeron that has a integrated video card and I am told that I would have to buy a new Motherboard if I wanted something with a AGP slot. And that the motherboard might not fit into the case that I have and that when its all said in done I would prolly be better of trying to get a couple of dollars out of the machine I have now and go get a machine that is a LEAST upgradeable (sp). So I could get the cheapest computer off there site and just upgrade to more RAM and a better card on my own. I was thinking of AMD rather then Intel....what do you think? Oh what about this new PCI express that I am hearing about.?
Since a motherboard that offers PCI-Express are around $150 and the videocards are near $400, I wouldn't go that route unless you have the money to support it. Also PCI-X doesn't really offer anything that AGPx8 can do [as of today, and today's games]
I'd just stick with 512MB RAM and a 5900 or 9800...
Well if you do decide to build a computer but dont know where to start this is a good place to check up on some stuff so you will feel more comfortable handling all that stuff and you are new to Building PC http://www.pcworld.com/howto/article/0,aid,116993,00.asp As for the 6600 It is already out and for sale next day shipping but the 6600GT seems to be shipping in 2-3 more days dunno why check out Nvidia site at http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_15976.html that is where they officially announced that the 6600 is for Sale Now! too bad its only PCIe and will take em a bit to get AGP version out but well before christmas plus its better than the last generation

Alienware.. waste of money.

True. I am waiting for more graphic cards to come out so it will push the 6800 GT prices down a little more...
I still can remember spending $400 on my very first Voodoo card...

were they not leet enough so you threw the computer out..?
or were they not leet enough to withstand being ripped out
or are they leet because it has 3 ide cables to one attachment on the motherboard?

This is my old PIII 450Mhz HP. Look at the cables, they are duct taped to make "round" cables. I did this before round cables where "1337".
So, are you cables 1337 enough?
That whole PC's been through hell.
Just look at my 8" CPU fan. That was great. Notice all the duct tape?

My only suggestion is this...
Build your own PC.

(KEEP IN MIND NO COMPUTER CAN RUN EQII AT ITS FULLEST)
a computer that can run eqii at an average rate = $573

simple reason
Dell takes advantage of computer newbies and charges them extra for all this crap that you basically do not need at all, and they like double the computer hardware priices
yes the site is legit, my machine came from them.
They're a good site.
http://www.facebook.com/murtb
It's because DELL, HP, etc charges you for A) "NAME Brand crap" Warranty
Once you cut those two factors out, you can get a $2000 machine for $800, etc.
SO yes, it's legit. You also have to take this in too...
$546 gets you a P4 2.8Ghzel®2.8Ghz Pentium® 4 2.8GHz 800 FSB
If you notice, you get a garbage videocard, garbage amount of RAM, etc.
