LCDs are good for less room,  but for games and other such things,  you're right,  they aren't as good as a regular monitor.

Depends on you.  Want to save space and have a neat looking screen,  go flat.  If you want to have the best picture and save a few $100,  get a monitor... 17"+

the only lcd ive had good experience with is hitachis, and the 1 i used cost around 700. i think it was 19 in though, and max res was 1600x1200. the cheapest lcds only run at 1024x768. so id still recoment gettin a crt, because since u have tower u shood have enuff room for a crt.

From tigerDirect, there are 15in lcd's for $140, which i think is a good deal, though there is a problem, the max resolution is only 1024x768

Customer: "How fast will my COM ports go?"
Tech Support: "How hard can you throw your computer?"

Its no hard murt, get a case, get a motherboard, get a processor and ram and a heatsink, put these into the correct slots.  Insert motherboard into case and screw in properly using the mounts that should have come with the case.  Get a hard drive, cd-rom, video card, and a powersupply.  Mount the hard drive and cd-rom and run the bus cables to them.  Insert the videocard and screw it in.  Insert your power supply and give power to you motherboard, cd-rom and harddrive.  All other things like fans and such are not hard to figure out.

After you install the OS, you get to install the drivers for all your parts.
