Yeah I'm on a quad core with a 460gtx and its like butter. I'm upwards of 40-60 fps and havent seen it drop below 20 without 50 odd people around me raining hell.
I found the exp scale to be quite good too. Not too short, not too long.
I have the same setup as you and running sweet. Especially this morning. I have 2 GTX 460s sli but had to shut one down because it wasn't sli friendly. This morning I was getting around 40 -50 fps...I even did some recording and was still running pretty well.
Because if it's running well for you, it's running well for everyone, and if it's not running well for everyone, *covers head in the sand* betabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabetabeta

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Regarding the whole dynamic events are just like rifts complaint, what people are forgetting is that with so many people in the same area, it's almost impossible to fail the event. So there is the whole fail condition of the event we arent going to see. All we are seeing is even pops up, hundreds rush to do it, event goes away, with no chance for it to grow and chain like it could.

And the event scales to the number of people there. This number and many other numbers in the game will be adjusted according to beta findings.

Probably in an ideal world. But my understanding is that these events swing like a pendulum, and currently we are just keeping them all the way on one end
I don't think it's just the technical problems. I think it's because, contrary to the claims of ANet since their Manifesto, this game offers just another "more of the same" experience. They promised innovation and change around every corner, yet it plays almost exactly like everything else that's out there, with a few little wrinkles here and there.
The combat is clunky and unresponsive. It has no "weight" to it.
The graphics are fairly average. Not the worst, but there are several games that are much better in that department.
The dynamic events are underwhelming, to say the least. Most are just standard MMO quests without the quest-giver, and the questing experience is as linear as most other themeparks.
The personal story is largely instance based. It's very reminiscent of SWTOR in that regard.
No open world PvP. It's all instance based, including the WvW.
The hype was through the roof, led by ANet themselves, but GW2 is just another themepark. It's more than a moderate disappointment, because it's so run-of-the-mill.
I'm having a blast here playing the game..you sure you are talking bout gw2?
...
...
On second note on your concerns:
Graphics: You weren't expecting the Cryengine were you? Graphics are decent and I don't really need more. I should also note that there is a big difference between mmo and single player games you fail to notice? Since everyone saw the graphics in all the media that was around way before the beta, this point is invalid.
Combat: It does indeed feel a bit clunky, but could you please define "weight"? An objective opinion is always better then a feeling you have with game we have no clue off. The unresponsiveness is probably because of the lag.
DE: Honestly...what were you expecting? Anet promised dynamic events that would branch and affect the word. Did they implement it? YES! Anet promised intresting objectives for those quests that would abolish the kill X rats quests. Did they implement it? YES/NO! Every quest is packaged rlly nicely in a way that hides the kill X rats quest archetype. But in a way that makes you care about the content of the quest and don't just click accept and ignore a wall of text. It's rlly hard to get away from the archetypes...But in my opinion the system is awesome and does everything it needs to do. So in my opinion this point is invalid.
Storyline: Pretty logical...how would you feel if there were 100 different dovahkiins slaughtering dragons around skyrim. Makes being dragonborn alot less intresting...Not everyone can the "chosen" hero. point invalid
WvW: I'm not gonna elaborate on this dead horse. point invalid
Conclusion: So your combat point is indeed valid..it's a bit too clunky at the moment. hopefully they fix it prior to launch. All the hype is real in my opinion. It's not "just" another themepark, it actually has some sandbox features. Since there's no obligatory handhelding and you are free to do whatever event you want in the world and no "track" of quests that lead you through the zone. (like in wow) And if that is your opinion of "run-of-the-mill" you are either a troll or you have come from the future
"Isn't a raid plundering villages in WoW or something like that?" - Robert Desable
I had fun. . no graphic or performance issues. At first I was dissapointed until I started to get a feel for some of the subtle differences that make this game very fun.
I never played GW1 so I can't compare to that. I think people expected the game to come out in a position similar to if it had been released already for 5 years. They have not even given a release date have they?
After about 2 hours of playing I strated to love the game and only dropped in here because I am installing my OS again on a new SSD. . . otherwise I would be playing.
I just can't get over how many people are playing. Just finished an event with at least 50 people and every other place I went to was packed with a multitude of people.
I do not have much negative to say about the game. I am running a AMD FX8150 Bulldozer and a GTX460 and I get solid 66fps with max settings.
The DE questing system early on is exactly as they said it would be very simplistic, but as you got further and further away from the first 4 DEs and started working on the lvl 11+ DEs they became more detailed with more chain type outcomes.
There is definitly not enough servers at the moment. BWE with 41 servers and every server completely stuffed to the brim. And to think for the most part everyone there is just someone who prepurchased.... Looks good for the future of the game to be honest.
The world is extremely immersive. I was drawn in completely the quests were super interesting, and before I knew it I was level 5 and already finished with my personal storyline up to lvl 11 hahaha. So I put that on hold went out into the world knocked out every heart area I could and then just explored and killed stuff. I had no problem keeping my level matched to the areas I was fighitng and I never had to repeat a single dynamic event.
The game is absolutely beautiful. I have only found a few graphical issues, a few issues with mobbs who fight you ranged and get hung up trying to kite you and end up stuck on a terrain wall or something.
The game is very very hard as a melee type. I suspect it has much to do with servers lagging somewhat under heavy loads. We will ahve to see with future BWEs. But at the moment it is incredibly hard to effectively use the dodge mechanic because every time I dodge away I still get hit by the damage. On my guardian I find Mace and Shield the most effective weapon set to use because of the defense and healing it offers. Greatsword on teh other hand was extremely difficult because of the lack of said defense and significantly less healing returns.
We still ahve months of BWE events to go and I fully expect Arenanet will have plenty of time to iron out the major issues. All in all I am extremely excited about what is available so far. I really want to get my hands on an Asura as that was the race I want to play in particular. But I have played Both Human and Charr now up to lvl 20 or so.
Good job Arenanet. You have put togethor a decent game so far. You havent made much of any false promises, and I definitly did not get that "let down" feeling I had 2 days into SW:TOR. Keep up the good work.
As one who didn't get in beta I am very surprised so much skeptical and negative opinions are here. I mean, I know no MMO is perfect, but for a first weekend the roses and daisies time surely was brief! Kinda surprised and I still try to sort out which opinion is more reliable. I am quite surprised tbh.
If you have a negative view or let down feeling, I would like to hear some substantial reasons. <.< >.> <.< (No trolling please, real opinions.^^)
The worst thing about gw2 are the fanboys, they gonna hurt this game badly. i was doing WvW all the day, the chat was full of people qqing about how it sux to be a melee, and everyone is just playing the game with a bow, or a gun even in the instanced pvp, wich make all the change weapon system, pointless. And in some point the WvW feels like the ¨Doorhammer old days¨, hitting a door for 10 min is not fun at all. The performance is really bad atm, even in High End pcs, and there is something bad about the animations, and someting that i really hate is that ¨you cant see anything¨, sometimes you dont even know what are you hitting so.
If anyone is bored and or not in the beta and would like to see what GW2 Surround looks like:
Make sure to view in 720P.
Guild Wars 2 is as good as I thought it would be, and one of the main reasons I created this unique NVIDIA Surround setup.
Sorry about the black borders between the screens, I do not have a wide-angle video camera lens to accurately capture the seam-less image of the lenses at this time. To see that effect in action, please view the Fresnel Lens video in my channel. In a normal playing/seating position, the three images come together to create one "world" image and the Fresnel lenses add a slight depth effect. It is like looking through a large window out into the world and makes for one amazing gaming experience.
As you can see in the video, SLI is not working properly (developers are working on fix). It is only using around one GTX 680's worth of processing power, but it will read around 3x 33% as it has to send the frames to three different cards in this Surround setup.
My 4th EVGA GTX 680 malfunctioned and I have a replacement on the way. Amazingly, as you can see in the video it runs pretty darn smooth.
I do a quick tour of Divinity's Reach, the most impressive city I've ever seen in any MMORPG. Then I head out to the World vs World vs World area called the "Mists". Here you get bumped up to level 80 but you can see my Ranger still has noob clothes and skills. You still need to level up to properly play WvWvW. I chase some player down and they go hide in the fort as we try and smash the door down. Those doors are pretty strong and take a good while to destroy so I switch over to a PvP "mini-game".
Now in the PvP mini-games, you get leveled to 80 but you also get 80 PvP armor and skills. Here you can see some of the cool effects. I was playing off to the side craning my neck so the camera had a good view. Don't laugh at my playing skill because of this!
The PvP mini-game plays very well and I think I even managed a kill in there somewhere. I am glad I pre-purchased the collectors edition. GW2 is shaping up to be quite the game.

Yeah I never had a stand around waiting for something to happen ffeeling. Of course I was out runnign all over Queensdale right away fighting events left right and diagonal ways LOL. This sounds like a personal problem. I dont have a high end PC by any means and Even while AOEing in the middle of massive packs of door attackers with ym greatsword I never had lag or lost visuals or anything like that. I think the lowest my FPS ever dropped to was around 54fps during one fort defense. For the msot part I was sitting solid on 62 - 66 fps with all settings on max.
I dunno, to me gw2 just looks like the newest wow-clone/wannabe to me. I've seen people live stream it and the game was far from impressive, combat looks like typical wow-fare. The pvp, does it serve a purpose like it did in daoc with the realm skill system? or is it pointless?
Wish I could get into the beta to give gw2 a shot to see if its worth buying, as it is i got no plans to buy it without a trial first, been burned on way to many mmo's.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

I thought that until I played ot for abit. It "feels" different to me. I am sure there will be an open beta at some point and I suggest you try playing it for at least a few hours. I thought it was rather bland until I got into it. It does "look" the same though.

You really don´t. While you theoretically could level up to max by standing in the same spot that would take forever and be as fun as watch paint dry.
It is faster and more fun to move around, and you can´t just go AFK, you need to do something to get the XP.
But frankly if someone like repeating the same events in one place all the time it is not really a problem, MMOs is about having fun and if you think it is more fun spending 20 times the regular level up to doing the same thing over and over you are boring but you decide how you want to play the game yourself.
The important thing is that you have fun without destroying the fun for other people.
I did 1 hour PvE only, so I can't judge that too much. I loved that I can choose witch phat does I take. (Go for a necro or a warrior companion, kill and npc or let him run etc...) What I did was PvP. WvWvW is coool, but too much running, but the 8v8 PvP is a BEAST. It's very fun. I'm a necro, I can make a mini zergfest, thats very fun too. I played lots of matches today. Not revolutionary? Idk... I got what I paid for (it's exactly what I saw on the vids), and it worth every penny for me.
