I totally forgot to take screenshots on BWE 1 and I missed the second weekend as I had managed to break 2 ribs and fracture 4 vertebrae in my lower back the day it started so sitting at a PC was not an option when I got out of hospital the day after.
I did take these though while messing with the settings. I play at 5280x1050, the high quality screenshot option in game is either doing some sort of interpolation or it is creating the screenshot off-screen at a higher resolution then saving it rather than the actual rendering you see on your screen. Either way, some of the screenshots I took where as large as 25MB and that's them already in jpg format. Actual size is 21056x4200 per screenshot, yes.. that's over 21 thousand pixels horizontal. I couldn't actually find any websites that would host them in their original size until I seen the others posted here by Fiontar which showed which site he/she used so thanks for that!
Keep in mind the edges of these screenshots may be slightly distorted due to the 3 monitor setup. Next BWE I'm hoping I can play with the settings a bit and provide feedback for ArenaNet should anything be needing changed with regards to UI support or options to change FoV settings etc. There is a command line arguement for the game (-bmp) to force the game to save the images as BMP files as oppose to JPG so next event expect me to be uploading some truely humongous screenshots!
[Putting them in as links was causing them not to load properly on my browser so I've edited it out. Sorry to make you all have to manually copy/pasta the links ]
and btw everything moves there its not static...find me one pic graphic wise from gw2 that look at least near this..there is none
and to those who say aoc looks better...here i proved u r wrong
I have to agree with you that Tera is really beutiful and in many ways probably the best looking MMO out there.
I however feel that GW2s world feels more alive and real than Teras, and the artstyle of it makes a lot of difference there.
GW2 looks great but it ain´t the best looking MMO ever made. Tera on the other hand just might be that but it have other problems, like the boring and static quests or the lack of customization. But noone can take the awesome graphics from it.
This 1 minute video I made was a quick look at the beauty and detail of Guild Wars 2 graphics. I don't even understand how the graphics can be so good in GW2 when it is not yet set for multi-threading or multi-core natively, and is not optimized for GPUs. GW2 is running on one core of my quad-core AMD CPU. I am blown away thinking about how much room for improvement the game has given how stunning it looks already. I talk over the vid, and you can hear my excitement for the graphics of GW2, and my boredom with WoW graphics. As a years long Warhammer player I am proud to see the genre incorporating all the important aspects (PvE, PvP, imagery) into one big title game. We are closer to perfection now.
have you played ffxiv on max settings? makes you wonder what 2.0 is going to look like.
I played FFXIV on max settings and yes its quite nice, and in 2.0 though the art style engine is changing, you can say its sorta downgrading so itll work on teh PS3/Xbox consoles.
GW2 graphics are definitly top notch, however I wish it sported gore effects and possibly a fatality system. Charr are too brutal to not have fatalitys.
I would also have to agree that while GW2's art style makes the game look beautiful even at lower graphical settings, it can't beat TERA's graphics in terms raw quality. GW2 as a whole grabs my attention better than Tera, but purely in terms of graphics, Tera would take the lead.

This would be true if the art style wasn't made purely for japanese teenager though. No honestly i like boobs, but you know this is just too much, and i'm not even talking about some total aesthetic nonsense like the foot lancer which are far worth. So it's really as good as it can be bad, a kind of love hate relationship. I far better like GW2 honestly.
Honestly i also think it depend a lot on the audience the game is aiming for, some people seam to think AoC is still the best just because it have a bunch of blood and dismemberment, and it look quiet good honestly, but technically, comparing a game that is almost 5 year older is just ridiculous whatever cool blood and effect it have, AoC is totally outdated compared to GW2, but you know the "hardcore gore dude" will think its just better even today. Same for WoW, i can't even think people prefer WoW, this game is just screaming "I'm made for kids" graphic wise, i personally can't even stand it, for me it's like Mapple story in 3d.
So each game have his own audience, and designer try to aim for what they choose to aim. Tera look great, but if you are not for it's audience, which is very narrow imo (probably one of their problem too), then it's not strange you won't like it much. The teen +manga fan probably love it though. I also love manga, but for some reason i find Tera very so-so graphic wise, they are all kind of manga though, and well Tera isn't the type of manga i think are that good. Once more the audience is very important here.
@Requiamer - I agree on what you wrote. My point was exactly that if we talk about pure graphical quality, TERA is superior, however once you factor in art style and design choices, GW2 (imo) is better.
Love the GW2 gfx but even if you have the best gfx, your game can still suck. I love GW2 though so it's not an issue for me, however look at old school games like pacman and smb, graphics suck by today's standards but we all had LOADS of fun playing those. Gameplay > gfx by a long shot.
For those that wanna hate on gw2, that's fine, they can play what they like
This is pretty funny.
Some people say that other games have better graphics than GW2 and that means they are "hating on" GW2?
Really?!
Nah, obviously not. It is a valid opinion, other games (FFXIV) are technically better in the gfx department.
GW2 might not have the most 'advanced' gfx out there, but it looks beautiful IMO. It also runs like butter for me already which, as much as I am interested in FFXIV 2.0, it never did before.
From what I saw during the last stress test I thought the graphics were decent, but the art style may take some getting used to for me. I did not mess with settings at all and just played on whatefer the client set them at. I have learned never to judge a game by the screenshots though, a game that is due to be released in the next few days looked great on my machine, until I started to move, then the illusion shatttered.
I am still sitting on the fence as far as whether I will like GW2's play and graphics style. An hour or so of stress test is not near enough time for me to pass judgement with. I am looking forwad to release though and a chance to play under less "hectic" condidtions. The game performed admirably considering that at times there were probably 50 - 100 other players in the same area. No lag whatsoever and my rig is hardly top of the line a old dual core Wolfsdale processor, 6 gig of ram, and a 6970 on a el cheapo motherboard.
Just opinion here since both graphics and game play are pretty subjective but thought AOC had the absolute best graphics but with crappy gameplay and LoTRO and TOR had good graphics with decent gameplay.

they are too big for little screen lol.

So this means the engine is single thread?

Looks Good. I like the the art style.

meh... even without looking at style and design i found gw2 better, both the resolution, smoothness, lighting, shadow and everything
and thats not a conclusion made with youtube vids since those never are to be trusted.. tested both games myself

the graphis/asthetic of TERA world are amazing, the rest i hate.
mobs, characters dont fit on world and fell very static.

I miss DAoC
Here's a thought,
take a look at concept art from multiple mmo's.
When you have done so take a look at how each engine/team translates that concept art into the gameworld.
I think thats one thing that impressed me a lot in GW2, the translation from concept into game asset.
All in all I do feel that the Anet art team is one of the strongest ones in the business right now.
I agree with you.
..Cake..
The graphics strike a very good balance between ensuring older systems can run it, large battles don't crash and looking immersive and evocative.
Anyone arguing the corner for only one of these elements is missing the point entirely....
