Are there any books, movies or rl events that you think could ever be a good MMO?
Ringworld, Protector, or both (i.e. the later ringworld sequels)
Problem is, company needs to be marginally insane to take it on as a project. Same problem most Gosh Darn Bigthing ("Rendezvous With Rama" etc.) fiction would face.
The rest of my picks require devs to leave comfy sword-and-board genre, which they're never eager to do.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

A proper Wild West Sandbox MMO....
Death Gate series
Forgotten Realms
Wheel of Time
Star Trek but done right, more sandbox like.
The Walking Dead
Fallen Skies
Jurassic Park ( I just want a dinosaur MMO lol)
Resident Evil
Silent Hill(maybe) something truly scary, TSW doesn't really scare me like Silent Hill
Logan's Run
Level to "age" 30 and then...permadeath kicks in.
