oh boy.. another hype thread! Is that the complaint of the day now? I was sure it was going to be "how arrogent the dev's are" that leads to this. Maybe I should just go down a few pages and re-post some on the other things said in the "hype" threads.. there is a ton of em.

But anyways, if you want to get away from the hype.. there is a thing called outside. Heck, go anywhere on the interwebz that isnt about mmorpgs and BAM.. hardly anything about GW2. I am just curious, where else is all this "hype" about gw2? Sites that are about MMORPG's dont count. Alot of people that play MMO's want to play this game, so sites that cover MMO's have things about GW2. You cater to the majority of your audiance.. it is called good buisness.

yes but markers on the map everywhere to tell the idiots where to quest!  where is the difference lol.

You can pick to have the markers show up or not. The option is there for people who like to explore and find things. Also when they say no quest system they are talking about the one WoW made a new ficture in MMOs. Run to a quest hub pick yo quests, run out do them, return and hand in. GW2 system is explore (or dont) and goto events that are happening and changing (you can goto the same area 10 min later and something different is happening) get involved and get rewarded. No need to run and hand anything in. Dynamic events are not something new, what is new is everything is a dynamic event.

this is wrong. i went to several HEART events on map and revisited em later and the event was still exactly the same as last time. so it doesnt really matter if take part in it or not since it resets itself automaticly after a set time. if i go to the same heart event 3 times i will do 3 times the same stuff cause the goal stays the same. thats how it was for 2 betaweekends for me (played with friends account).

    this is classic repeatable quest.

Heart Events aren't Dynamic events they are background quests for an area in which Dynamic events take place they track your contribution towards an area of the map. You should be looking for events in the area to do as the heart will fill up whilst you do the orange indicated events.

It is also possible to trigger events as an individual through exploration and interaction with the world which leaves a bit more mystery too it.

The heart events are more similar to War public quests, and serve to give the world more structure on top of the actual dynamic events.

Just going to slip in this link here to explain this better

    http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heart

You can tell if you are on a personal quest when the progress bar is in yellow. If you see the progress bar you are filling is orange then thats a public dynamic event. Alot of the dynamic events start where the hearts are (your personal quests) Also on the map any circle in orange is a public dynamic event. Aften an event ends (win or fail) watch the NPCs and listen to them talk or where they run off to and thats normally the start of another dynamic event. Sometimes its just a special vendor that opens up or something else along that line.

Dude you are a tiny bit confused whilst I think you are on the same page as me I think you're getting a bit muddled.

Heart Events are known as Reknown hearts or Reknown tasks These are the static hearts o the map They always stay there, they are static and once you fill them you complete them.

Green marked events on your map are entrances to your personal story instances which I think have white text from memory dictating what to do but they are instanced events that are unique to your character.

Dynamic Events are Orange events that trigger and evolve across the map#EDIT# yes these often have start points close to hearts.

The NPC interaction is dependent on these events the heart Events/Reknown hearts are not they are static until completed. Once completed you can use the reknown merchant associated with that area.

Not confused at all. You basicly resaid what I said but ok, thanks for the color coding. At the end of a public dynamic event I have had anything happen from it just ending, start a new dyanmic event in the chain and even had one guy run off after I helped him get ore (Norn area) he ran off to his forge and it took 1-2 min of following him and he became a vendor that sold blue weapons really cheap. Was not a reknown vendor, he was selling weapons for coin.

ha yeh I kind of realised I'd just said what you had said after I wrote it... but its friday too the pub!

It may be the same thing that put me off Diablo 2 and made me exited for SWTOR.

So back to the PVP, is that the main strength? Because I can relate to that eventhough it is not my thing Or is it "gameplay" like Diablo 2?

PvP in an MMO and FPS are 2 completely diffrent styles of PvP. Thats why some would choose an MMO over a shooter.

You read it doesnt have much PvE? I dont know where you read that but I suggest you find a diffrent source for your information. Like how bout looking at some video's or looking at thier official site. That statement just reaks of trolling or ignorance.

Diablo2? That game is 10 years old. Not to mention a dungeon crawler and MMO gameplay wise are 2 completely diffrent types of games.

You know, this whole post is about idiotic the more I think about it. The only small bit of information you can even call an opinion is that you dont like the lore/environment. The post just makes NO sense what so ever.

I think the big selling point for the game is the way that the questing is done. Neither are a selling point for me so i'll wait a few months before even concidering buying this one. Once the fanboys get done preaching up the game and turn into rage quitters then I'll know I made a good choice.

This is possibly the dumbest thing I have read today.

Anybody with half a brain should not listen to anybody but their own opinions. People are gonna play the game, some are gonna love it others are gonna hate it, that's is just how life is, hinging your decision to play a game solely on the opinions on individuals you don't even know is downright stupid. If you hate the game based on the things you have seen or from your playing experience that is fine, but your decision shouldn't be based on solely on these imaginary fanboys.

Imaginary fanboys, oh look a fanboy. Defend it with your life fanboy GO!!

I honestly couldn't give too hoots if its the next big mmo, but I remember when the Guild Wars 2 Manifesto came out and I thought wow if they deliver that game I'll be happy. I've played all the beta events and they delivered that exact game that they described. I don't need artificial time syncs in the form of instances that I have to run like a weekly chore if I find the combat and world engaging enough.

I don't think there is much hype just people that saw a game in development liked it followed it until they got to play it and realised that what they had been told had been delivered, unlike games like SWTOR, WAR, Aion, AOC. Its been a long time since a title delivered on its promises.

I just cant wrap my head around this way of thinking. Maybe it was the way I was raised, but I just dont see how people can get all excited about wanting people to be disapointed. If someone buys something, I hope they get enjoyment out of it, I dont sit there hoping they get disapointed and angry. There is pesimists, and then there are people wanting a whole group to be miserable just because they dont like a video game. My guess is this is the reason shows like Jersey Show keep going.

This. There's not very much that people can genuinely complain about for the game, so they choose hype, which has little to do with gameplay.

The game ain't perfect by quite a bit, but its as close as any MMO has gotten in a while.

All I really care about in my MMO is having fun. GW2 delivers on that. If you like gear progression and MMOs that have to jump threw hoops to do X,Y,Z content GW2 is not for you. If you want accesss to everything you paid for and its based off skill to be able to see and finish content then GW2 is for you. Im a casual gamer and I am sick of not being able to see content because dont have 300hr to put into gearing up a char. I want my PvP to be fair. I want to see every dungeon. GW2 is that game and if you dont get it <<<shrugs>>> if you like grinding <<<shrugs>>> you really need to move on. If you want something different and GW2 is. Then I sugest you really put some time in this game because this game is just about the good stuff and nothing more.

They think these negative hype threads on  mmorpg.com actually matter.  They all also probably still  play SWTOR.

They are having a personal crisis becuase GW2 won't have 20 man raids.

Sometimes, I get why people want a game to fail.  For example, I will admit, that a part of me wanted SWTOR to not do well.  But this was because I felt it represented everything wrong with the genre.  It was a huge budget game that turned out to have next to no innovation, hardly even felt like an MMORPG because of the huge focus on VO and single player story, and basically just copied WoW for anything resembling an MMORPG.  I felt like if it was a big success, then we would have more SWTOR-like games to look forward to in the future, and I really did not want that.

GW2 though...I really don't see what's to hate about it.  If you don't like it, that's fine...but it's not like it's completely derivative, it does a lot of different things, and it definitely feels like an MMORPG.  The only reason I can think of to want GW2 to fail is if you are a hardcore sandbox lover and just want all themeparks to die.

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?

Because only someone with a god complex is so completely full of themselves that they want someone to dislike something because THEY dont like it. Its pretty clear you do not understand what an opinion is.  Your sig is verry fitting.

I almost felt like that about SWTOR as well mostly because Bioware reverted back to a standard mmo model on every decision that they originally came out with. The game ended up a shadow of what was originally promised. I still enjoyed it but I'm kind of glad that its been relatively unsuccesful to showcase that trying to please everybody does not build a good end product.

GW2 though...I really don't see what's to hate about it.  If you don't like it, that's fine...but it's not like it's completely derivative, it does a lot of different things, and it definitely feels like an MMORPG.  The only reason I can think of to want GW2 to fail is if you are a hardcore sandbox lover and just want all themeparks to die.

wait and you will see some guys saying GW2 is exactly a WoW based game, with same combat system, etc....just wait xD

Can't wait to have a laugh myself, I obvously see what most do not. There vision is very clouded if they think this is the next best mmo... It's not, really. Just sayin.

I just cant wrap my head around this way of thinking. Maybe it was the way I was raised, but I just dont see how people can get all excited about wanting people to be disapointed. If someone buys something, I hope they get enjoyment out of it, I dont sit there hoping they get disapointed and angry. I hope TSW falls flat on its face. Not because of the game itself or because funcom made it. But because I want to see the greedyness of Funcom make them go bankrupt. Doesnt mean I like th idea that it means thousands of people will be disapointed with a game they wanted to enjoy. There is a diffrence between wanting a game to fail and hopeing people are disapointed. One is wanting a company to flop the other is being a dickhead to players who want to enjoy the game.
