From his post I can't seem to understand what exactly he said that enticed so much GW2 white knighting?
Nothing he said was bashing the game. It was simply stating current/potential problems with the game. How is that so bad? He even admits early on that he has already pre ordered the game and likes the game yet is pointing out things he things or knows are problems with the game.
Your going to say that skill completely not working is a good sign for a beta? I am sorry but that scares the shit out of me from buying this game.
The movement in the game is VERY clunky, and its one of the major factors for me being on the fence of buying the game. Watching people hop around and only half their body twists and moves while they perform actions looks really really terrible and bugs me.
Not having a Dungeon Finder is bad period. You can't argue history. Regardless of not being forced to PvE for items and everything is mostly cosmetic it just makes it that much harder to get a group and is a big turn off when people don't have or want to spend 10 to 20 mins waiting for 4 other people to group with do to a dungeon.
But what baffles me the most about this thread is the amount of out right blind fanboism toward GW2. It is pretty incredible how many people kept saying he posted misinformation or lies because well almost everything in there is factual or has a basis for concern regardless if its an opinion or not.
I can see why the game is not charging a sub at launch. Its missing many basic QOL and functionalities of a standard MMO and its got some serious issues.

1) /say and /map work great, no need for a lazy man's dungeon finder. And the dungeons are marked on the map, what's there to find?
2) Macros don't work for action-based combat. And, they certain don't work when skills are changed with each weapon. Also, again this is a lazy person's play style. WHY?!
3) Mounts? Who needs those. This game has speed buffs on almost every class, besides having Magical Waypoints and Asura Gates. And, the exploration of this game makes players WANT to stop and smell the roses, not rush past them
4) DPS meter/Parser? Really? You want this to be a numbers race? That stuff is so lame. It's not FUN to just sit there and crunch numbers. If you think it is, please by all means there is FREEWARE that comes with all versions of Windows called a CALCULATOR.
5) The zones are huge! So what if you have to portal. Players had to do that in Age of Conan, WAR, City of Heroes, Champions, DC Universe, and dozens of other games. Big whoop. The zones have far more graphical prowas than that of other games too
6) See part #5, but the graphics on this thing surpass that of Age of Conan, and it's DX10. So, ya. Just because it's DXwhatever, doesn't mean it sucks. This game is B-E-A-UTIFUL!
8) You have no understanding of some of the PvP systems. Sure, there's SOME PvE targets, but the main focus is PvP. Tisk, tisk.
10) Queues are being worked on, that's what a Beta is for. They said it's getting revamped before launch.
11) No FPS issues on my end, must be your computer.
12) I've never ONCE seen issues with siege weapons, or abilities, going off wrong. Care to give a specific detailed example?
13) Yes, balance isn't 100% perfect. Oh, no! It's still something they're working on. I've never seen a class that can "3 hit" a person as you claim, but whatever. The classes seem far more balanced than that of current state WoW, that's for sure.
14) Um, no. It costs GOLD to get a 500 man guild registered, NOT GEMS. Unless you're counting Gem-to-Gold conversion, which would be foolish of the guild. They can just get every member to donate 5 Silver. 5x500=2500, or 25 GOLD. Holy cow! So easy!
15) Your trolling effort is totally bust. Please, stay in WoW where you belong. All your complaints match that game to a "T" without need of mentioning the name.
haha yeah, OP got Pwned, then conveniently ignored this post.....
All of the things he said were "missing" are not missing, they are deliberately not included by design, and all the other things are being worked on before launch. OP is stuck in a WoW mindset. We dont want dungeon finders and DPS meters and Macros and all that associated crap in GW2

Best comeback. Ever. /thread
Honestly is, though I'd say a few of the op's points are fair and understandable. Everything else has nothing to do with the thread title or his actual point, which is a pet peeve indeed.
It's like throwing in unnecessary opinions and wants/desires as if they are suppose to be there.

Wow, so I was just reading over the 12 pages or so that got posted here after I fell asleep...and dear god, I'm getting a headache lol .
Can we all just accept that the OP is way off base with just about all of his arguments except maybe dungeon finder and some of the actual bugs he mentions that just need to be fixed?
Actually i would say for a vanilla release GW2 will come with much more than any vanilla mmo i have seen yet..
With that said bug fixes and promised stuff like housing/guildhalls will be priority and stuff like dungeon group finder, mounts and dps meters will be added over time when and if many players demand it and if anet feels they can find a way to impliment them without screwing the game up..
We all know criticism of this game isnt wanted nor is it tolerated.
Seriously though...everyone thinks the classes are 100% balanced? This is the one game where people want heavy instancing? No one would want mounts? Combat isnt 5 button swap 5 button?
Nothing the OP stated was a bunch of crazy fabrications...he just wants the game to be better...why such hostility?

I would say that Vanilla GW2 has more variety and features than most of themeparks on the market even with years of postlaunch development.
We all know criticism of this game isnt wanted nor is it tolerated.

Looks like crazy fabrications to me .
Also...in my post I acknowledged some of the actual points that the OP had. But some of his complaints really are ridiculous...you have to be able to differentiate between people pointing out actual ridiculous complaints, and "fanbois" blindly defending a game. You can't just generalize everything.
We all know criticism of this game isnt wanted nor is it tolerated.

Criticism without any kind of proof won't be tolerated, and shouldn't be tolerated.

Yeah they also state that calling posters trolls will not be toloerated but that wasnt followed here was it?
If the OP feels that mounts would make the game better...or a DPS meter...or macros...hes got a right to suggest that and the only proof he needs is that its what he wants....
Oh man, you just called all the GW2 defenders to arms. I can hear the battlehorns sounding off.
Man, you are right. Those guys must have nothing to do all day except hang out in a forum about the game they like and defend it against people blasting it. The only people that would be lamer are people that hang out on a GW2 forum and insult the fanboys for liking a game. I mean, what kind of life does someone have when they get their kicks from going to a section of a website devoted to a game they dont like just to laugh at the people that do and call them names. It would be like someone going to a Slayer concert and laughing at all the metal heads instead of just staying home and listening to thier justin bieber cds.
Originally posted by IstrebiteI OP is clearly a troll. On the countrary, he only reacts to negative comments and tries to argue, say "yeah thats typical GW2 fan raging" etc. Clearly a troll. Dont know why you kept feeding him for 14 pages.OP, if you think you'll achieve something, you wont. You're just wasting your time here. So if you are willing to agree that you're a human being without something reasonable to do, without purpose in life, then please continue. Man, I cannot find a single thing wrong with this response. The OP was out of his mind to think that any of the "problems" they mentioned were actually problems, or actually existed for that matter.
$5 says that he either didn't play any of the GW2 betas at all. Seriously, how can you get the kind of information that he got wrong, well, wrong? It is easliy researched either via countless websites or via actual gameplay, so can probably be inferred that he intentionally got it wrong.
Seriously not nearly as big of a deal as so many people make this out to be.
Its one of their best design decisions , as mounts in general allow people to bypass content.
Jesus this is getting tiring and old to see. After hearing this a thousand times NO ONE EVER explains what the hell is "skipping content with a mount" in a mmorpg.
Is it running past a quest? A mob? Pack of mobs? Past an event? You can do all that on foot too. Or is it the assumption that the mounts are designed to be battering rams that you can use to run-through events and mobs? That's an assumption, usually mounts have mechanics to slow down or to dismount if you take enough damage trying to "skip" stuff.
Another thing is, should mmorpgs be games where I cant have any say what I want to do or dont want to do? It sounds like the argument against mounts is that people dont have to poke every effin ant's nest on mount, so it's a bad thing, but for some damn reason on foot I'm supposed to mess up every nest, pile, tree, stone, mob, shit and then some? Shouldnt that be a choise for me as a player, an adventurer and explorer?
Makes absolutely no sense at all. It really makes me wonder why.
Just a general notice, in singleplayer games I'm not supposed to "skip content", in mmorpgs I'm supposed to experience a huge world populated by npc's and other players. Why is "skipping content" even a concern in an open huge mmorpg world? Only reason I can think of is if the game is designed to be ran in a set narrow path from start to finish, which you STILL do on foot too if that's the case. Makes no sense. Not to mention character levels will restrict me from "skipping content" since I still need to level to be able to go to the next area.
Only real valid argument I've heard is that the game does not need mounts since there's teleports and waypoints everywhere. But that's like saying that the game does not need maces for combat because there's swords already. Mounts are not from hell, they are just simply a fun way to travel (or even do combat if designed so etc) and I heard GW2 is about fun, guess that was bullshit.
I can see why the game is not charging a sub at launch. Its missing many basic QOL and functionalities of a standard MMO and its got some serious issues.

Class balance is non existant, one class can hit for 12k and burst someone down in about 3 seconds, while other classes are completely gimp. Major issue for me. Looking at you warriors. They need a nerf or the rest of us needs a buff. 12k in one hit is OP, when most classes have around 20k health.

Hope they can fix some of this stuff before launch, but I'm not to sure they can get even half of that stuff done. Guess we'll have to settle for another sub par MMO launch. Like I said earlier at least they aren't charging a sub. After playing all BWE there is no way this is a subpar game. While there are some outstanding issues to be resolved most of it centers around pvp, which is notorisly difficult to balance. The pve aspect of the game is pitch perfect. Although we dont know how it is at 80, the fact that we need to level though 80 levels means most of us normal folk wont know that for sometime.

1) Dungeon finder I'm ambivalent about. They probably should have some sort of lfg tool for dungeons, but not the wow one thanks.
2) Personally, I like a game where I don't need macros to play efficiently.
3) There is no prupose for mounts in this game. None.
4) Thank GOD for no DPS meter. How about we teach players to understand and deal with mechanics, instead of ignoring them in favor of padding their meters?
5) Every game has zones. Yes, even WoW. Did you ever realize your framerate tends to dip a little as you near the line between two different areas? That's the game loading the next zone.
6) Granted I wouldn't mind seeing 10/11, but the game's pretty enough as it is. I can live without this.
7) Really? I did the Metrica Province jumping puzzle, which allow me to assure you is hard as hell. And the only difficulty was the puzzle itself. The controls responded fine.
8) Um....have we played the same game? People who mash five keys at random, swap, then mash five more tend to be corpses. Unless you just hung in the back and let the crowd carry you.
9) I don't even get your complaint about sPvP. Have you ever played League of Legends? They were doing something similar to that.
10) Um again...while there are queueing problems they are being worked on. Secondly, WoW's what, 6 years old? 7? I forget...and still has broken queues.
11) Two points here. YMMV on performance, mine was fine even in huge WvW fights. Probably gfx optimization issues. Regarding the zerg fest...Yeah, but we'll see that fade as playters get better. Zerging is a horribly inefficient way to win.
12) I've noticed the targeted ground stuff wonking out, so I'll admit those problems exist. As to the rest of the bugs...never noticed any of that, but that may depend on what profession/trait you were running with.
13) First off, that's not class balance, it's build balance. And I'ma go out on a limb and way you're looking at a Warrior with Bull Rush/Hundred Blades. Which has already been nerfed, and players have found mechanics to neutralize it. As a melee mesmer I've killed warriors that use that easily. You time your dodges/defensive moves to absorb that big 3-adrenaline hit, and then they're useless for several seconds.
14) I doubt we'll see any 500 man guilds any time soon. I also don't recall seeing anyhting in the CS to do with guilds, but perhaps I missed something.
We all know criticism of this game isnt wanted nor is it tolerated.
Criticism with some backup is fine. Dissenting opinions are fine. OP had some of those, and some things that were blatantly trolling.
Seriously though...everyone thinks the classes are 100% balanced?
Of course not. No game is ever 100% balanced, no matter how hard the devs try, unless everything is 100% the same for every player. I don't think it's as broke as the OP indicates, however.
This is the one game where people want heavy instancing?
There's heavy instancing? The only instances are PS quests and dungeons. Yes, zones splinter into shareds when they are over pop. Keep in mind though not to judge the game by BWE3. They intenitonally reduced the zone caps to stress test.
No one would want mounts?
Looking at the numerous polls that have been on this site...it's about 50-50. I personally don't see a need for the,. You can get to any given waypoint near your current location on foot quickly enough, and once you have it tagged you can just port.
Combat isnt 5 button swap 5 button?
Nope. Not even close. I mean if you are playing like an idiot maybe, but you'll be dead in short order. Now, if you are floolowing behind a large group, you can spam all you want and it won't matter. You won't do any real contributing, But you'll get away with it.
Nothing the OP stated was a bunch of crazy fabrications...he just wants the game to be better...why such hostility?
Actually, easily 2-3 or more of the things he stated were fabrications, or just plain misunderstandings about the game. And there's nothing wronf with wanting it to be better. But he more or less stated the game was unplayable because it didn't have idiotic wow features like a DPS meter.
I can see why the game is not charging a sub at launch. Its missing many basic QOL and functionalities of a standard MMO and its got some serious issues.
Not a standard MMO, sorry.
No dungeon finder.
Dungeon finders are only necessary with bad server technology (which games like WoW and Rift have.) that do not support enough players on one server and do not allow for cross server play (no guesting in other games) This is not a required launch feature either since the community is at the biggest point at launch. Not to mention that when dungeon finders are added the content has to be nerfed to be able to use the functionality properly. Yeah, I think most people don't care / want a dungeon finder. This is not WoW either, you don't have to do dungeons if you don't want to. Hell, if you tried an explorable mode dungeon with a "dungeon finder" group you would probably quit halfway to the first boss due to frustration.
No Macros.
Thats because this game has a good combat system and does not require them. Macros are a sign of a poorly designed combat system because the developer has to create ways for the player to make combat more enjoyable.
No mounts.
Mounts are not necessary with the waypoint system. They would be nice for cosmetics though, but they might come later for that. If you want to explore the world faster the first time, honestly, people like you should not play MMOs. I would stick to mobas that do not promote any kind of exploration. Mounts are one way for developers to fast track players through environments and avoid seeing the fine details of the game. (IE: the world is boring, so they get you through it faster)
No DPS meter or at least a parsable combat log.
DPS meters are a joke. The only reason people would want a dps meter is for raiding and there is none.
Zones instead of an open world.
Sure, I will give you this one. But that comes with the territory. The game has more content and detail in one zone then a game like WoW does in 5 zones.
Running directx 9, in 2012. They might be updating this
So is WoW. DX11 was pretty much a miss, most PC games don't even use it...especially MMOs. Some of them use DX11 drivers, but don't take any advantage of the technology. Reason? Because it is pretty much a garbage technology.
Clunky movement and jumping. Really noticeable when trying to do the vista achievements
Clunky movement? Now you are just fishing here. I would actually say jumping feels better in GW2 then every other MMO I have played. When you move in the air you can actually control the distance of your character's jump.
Combat is a spam fest. Mash 5 keys, weapon swap, mash 5 keys rinse repeat. Definately a step sideways in combat department
LOL. Now this is just plain ignorant. I can just LOS you when you start attacking me and all your attacks will be obscured. I can also dodge roll and avoid one of those attacks. I can move behind you and you will cast those abilities infront of you. I can block and you will miss 2-3 of your attacks. Try spamming in every other mmo, yep, it works. ;P Person LOSes you in another MMO = you can't cast at all, meaning you don't waste your cast. If you get LOSed in GW2 you lose your cast. Not to mention you can strafe in this game to avoid melee attacks. Next point please?
PVE in the structured PVP matches. Thats a joke. They said they want this to be an E-Sport and they added PVE mobs that give points to a PVP match?
Now you are really pushing it. All the best pvp games have had PvE elements in PvP. League of Legends is one of the most competitive E-Sports (if not the most) and has plenty of PvE elements.
Broken Q in sPVP. This one really irks me because this will be the second supposed "Tripple A" MMO that will launch in a year with a broken PVP Q
There is no queing. It is a server list like in a fps. This is a far better technology then server queing since you don't have to wait. You will even be able to make your own server at launch.
Extreme FPS and lag issues in WvW. WvW is a complete zerg fest
Must be your computer being trash. I run at 40-50 FPS in WvW with max settings.
WvW = RvR (DAOC) = Zergfest yeah sure. But that is based off one of the best (the best in most people's eyes) pvp MMOs to date. WvW fun will be more about zerg-busting with a small group. Which you can do, much like DAOC.
Major bugs going on. Sigils on weapons not working right. Abilities not working. Abilities/traits/sigils with little to no description of what they actually do. Traits not working right. Ground AOE falling through the earth all over the place and not working. Ground placed items that don't work, fall through the ground.
Examples? Otherwise this is just incoherant rambling of a WoW fanboy. And remember, this is still beta. ArenaNet is not like other companies. There will be significant changes in the 4 weeks until launch. Just like there were (and features added as well) between BWE2-3
Class balance is non existant, one class can hit for 12k and burst someone down in about 3 seconds, while other classes are completely gimp.
That warrior spec is being nerfed. Alot of balance still going on. I have played every class except necro enough in sPvP to know that you saying other classes are gimped is pure ignorance. The only class that I felt gimped on was an engineer and that was probably because I didn't know what I was doing.
Ridiculous prices in the cash shop. In a 500 man guild? Get ready to pony up $40 on launch day to make your guild.
Guild cap costs in game gold to raise, not real money. If you want a 500 man guild at launch you can get the people online to all chip in like 1silver or less and you will have it. Considering this affects maybe 20 guilds in the whole game though, I don't see it as an issue. Most guild this big have dealt with far worse guild restrictions.
Hope they can fix some of this stuff before launch, but I'm not to sure they can get even half of that stuff done. Guess we'll have to settle for another sub par MMO launch. Like I said earlier at least they aren't charging a sub.
Yep, you just lost any credibility you had by claiming that the game is going to suck and then saying you are going to get it anyways. Haha, love it when people say stuff like that. Next hater, please?
We all know criticism of this game isnt wanted nor is it tolerated.

It is pretty incredible how many people kept saying he posted misinformation or lies because well almost everything in there is factual or has a basis for concern regardless if its an opinion or not.
haha yeah, OP got Pwned, then conveniently ignored this post.....
All of the things he said were "missing" are not missing, they are deliberately not included by design, and all the other things are being worked on before launch. OP is stuck in a WoW mindset. We dont want dungeon finders and DPS meters and Macros and all that associated crap in GW2

Hello.
Everything you say, OP is just going to reply with "typical fanboy response".
Please don't put shit you want and think in a post about missing basic stuff and buggy.
Queue?
I almost put you on the block list.
All the white is fair stuff.
Edited: Stop lying on purpose that shit does not help!!!
I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.
I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.
P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)
Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.
Honestly is, though I'd say a few of the op's points are fair and understandable. Everything else has nothing to do with the thread title or his actual point, which is a pet peeve indeed.
It's like throwing in unnecessary opinions and wants/desires as if they are suppose to be there.

You don't have enough gold for the blueprint. Time to throw some gems and convert them to gold.
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
thanks for the smile heh
EQ2 fan sites
Actually i would say for a vanilla release GW2 will come with much more than any vanilla mmo i have seen yet..
With that said bug fixes and promised stuff like housing/guildhalls will be priority and stuff like dungeon group finder, mounts and dps meters will be added over time when and if many players demand it and if anet feels they can find a way to impliment them without screwing the game up..
Playing GW2..
Oops

I would say that Vanilla GW2 has more variety and features than most of themeparks on the market even with years of postlaunch development.
Oh?

Looks like crazy fabrications to me .
Also...in my post I acknowledged some of the actual points that the OP had. But some of his complaints really are ridiculous...you have to be able to differentiate between people pointing out actual ridiculous complaints, and "fanbois" blindly defending a game. You can't just generalize everything.
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
Criticism without any kind of proof won't be tolerated, and shouldn't be tolerated.
See http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/473/view/forums/thread/358150/Constructive-criticism-what-should-be-improved-.html were some valid arguments were made and there is a healthy discussion. The OP made some valid arguments but drowned them with useless/misinformed ones. And he never tried to explain his opinions either
Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums
Yeah they also state that calling posters trolls will not be toloerated but that wasnt followed here was it?
If the OP feels that mounts would make the game better...or a DPS meter...or macros...hes got a right to suggest that and the only proof he needs is that its what he wants....
You guys are getting ridiculous.
I agree with you.
I really wish folk would stop creating threads to pull in trolling. It's getting ridiculous up in here :P
Since when is Tuesday a direction?
