Thankfully, that list doesnt apply to me...who is an individual...with my own tastes that actually lists some of those things as a reason to like the game more...and that people that hate those things will more than likely stay away making the community even better adding ANOTHER reason to LIKE the game!
It not thier opinions thats bad its the sexual inuindo that makes the video bad, i dot go to youtube to hear about some girls lack of breasts and what some guy does with his thinggy, which is at the end of his video. Thats why I dislike his podcast.
This thread and video has been one great experiment to demonstrate not only how many people comment solely on the title but also how a negative title can influence and alter the perception of those who actually did watch some of the video throughout their entire viewing experience.
ohh no someone on the internet has a different opinion than me about GW2 . I suppose if i didn't have a life I enjoy this might bother me and stuff. I for one read over the list and none of those things are deal breakers to me, I could give a flying *bleep* about mounts the teleportation system is cheap and easy. All of the other complaints i just found to be opinion based only, that is many of those things are overwhelmingly possitive when compared to re-tread crap out there in the MMO market today.
I don't think GW2 is perfect I think some might just see an organized zerg fest and that is fine. But i would much rather have the equivelent of freely avialable raid content as opoosed to going through some hoops just for the game to allow you to access said content.
Granted i know wow is quite a bit different than the vanilla days i went back about a year ago for a few months. But I think of all the lame things as a gamer I have deal with in regards to forming raids, not having a tank , not having a healer. All the drama that can insue, having to PUG a tank and then the tank and other people start arguing etc.
Sorry but this game gets rid of so many features that i not only object to in most MMO's but frankly i would rather quit than deal with ever again. To people like me GW2 is a reason to play MMO's again.
This thread and video has been one great experiment to demonstrate not only how many people comment solely on the title but also how a negative title can influence and alter the perception of those who actually did watch some of the video throughout their entire viewing experience.
Ye pretty much it's pretty obvious the guys that made that post cast like very much GW2 and defend it and welcome it blabla.
Anyway i think the pod cast is ok, i have see few from those guys and they are good at it, i'll rather watch them than some other more "pro" like podcast, at least they have fun making them, and it doesn't matter if they obviously come from Wow if they make some good points.
What I find hilarious about these threads is that this is basically SWTOR all over again. Everyone has decided, for the moment, that GW2 will be the best game they have ever played. They did the same thing for TOR. If you say something negative, they climb down your throat.
I should start listing names of well-known people on these forums that thought TOR was the next Jesus, and bashed all things GW2, and are now here hanging off GW2 nuts in the same fashion.
I won't though, because it's quite amusing to watch all of this (again, and again) with each new game release.
People were excited about WoW before it came out, too.
ANybody who would actually make a video like this has some serious issues. Most of the issues listed are positives as far as I am concerned. I will love GW2 of that I am sure. Get over your envy, and jealousy of the game...THis game will infact make WOW a ghost town...deal with it.
Does anyone realize that they made this podcast for the sole reason discuss what SOME people MAY possibly see as faults to GW2. They have compiled a list of the various things people have said and discussed it. They have made other podcasts that talk about how much fun they had in the game and how great it is and wanted to do something outside of the "fanboi" approach and take a different look at it.
Personally, I didn't watch the podcast and probably won't, but I do know the reason for its creation. I am familiar with the Alttabme community because of their showcase of the 50 Char mesmers during the last BWE.
There's actually not much discussion, or neutral comparison.
People who have concerns with regards to GW2 mechanics will have these concerns based upon their experience with others games. So, in order to have a discussion you'd want to actually DISCUSS the difference and supposed justification/pros/cons of those differences.
However, if you watch the video (click on the learning curve/adjustment section) - they basically dismiss other games systems as "crap". Tera and Secret World both added unique systems into their combat mechanics in order to "spice things up" a bit and make combat more interesting. GW2 is doing the same thing, and it's a good thing, but it doesn't mean they have the holy grail of combat systems and all other systems are crap.
I basically stopped watching at that point, as it became obvious this wasn't a discussion about the different systems as they compare to other games. This wasn't a discussion to address concerns of players who may be on the fence about guild wars 2 (and thus help grow the community). This was simply another fanboi video...
I'd suggest you guys re-do this video.. and in the video show actually comparisons with video clips of the different systems - i.e. show a clip of tera combat, then TSW combat then GW2 combat. Try educating, instead of just vomitting into the mic, dismissing other games, talking about masturbation and crotches... yada yada...
2. My computer is so ancient that it only can run Wow and other 8 year old games
3. I dislike fantasy
Those are good reasons I can easily accept unlike the the podcast reasons which some have a small validity but most are just really silly. Of course many people actually have good reasons to dislike GW2 (or any othergame for that matter), we don´t like exactly the same thing but reasons like the lack of mounts at launch just feels rather silly, at best that would be a reason to wait a while before buying the game.

Actually, you have to play them to feel the difference - just visuals doesn't tell you what is fixed animation, what is user input, how hard or easy it is.
Currently playing: GW2 Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders
hmm lets see,why i wont like guild wars 2? certainly isnt going to be the things there listing
"1:14:45 - WvW loot, bag space"
i play the game for fun,i could care less if the loot is giant turds as long as the game is fun,and bag space? oh well, just have to sell junk out of my inventory to make more
"1:17:37 - Armor repair"
meh,i guess it depends on how easy it is to make currency.because ive never really complained about having to repair my armor, plus theres a downed state
"1:07:49 - Player housing"
ive never played an mmo that has had player housing, and they've all been pretty sucessful without it
"45:55 - No "specs" like healer or tank"
so that handy dandy healing button every class gets.thats your "healing spec",they implemented the no holy trinity pretty poorly to the people who dont want to work harder because of it in my opinion, but thats a different story
"50:24 - No addons"
oh noez,no add ons.only the wow community will make a big deal about it(not trying to get into a big argument over i might of flamed the wow community.was just using it as a example).since its the only mmo ive ever played that needed add ons

I agree that on-hands learning is better than someone attempting to educate you about something - but, at least education is better than simply saying "oh the other systems are crap, gw2 good!"

Not sure where you got that I made the podcast from my post. I was simply trying to make people aware of the fact that the purpose of the podcast doesn't reflect the title of the podcast.
I went ahead and started up the podcast and I didn't get this impression at all. They talked about the dodge mechanic and not being able to rely on the mouse like some people may be used to in WoW. **Almost needed to edit this, but while I was writing this I did hear the "dig" at Tera. *shrug* Nothing major imo.
To each his own I suppose. I'm listening to it right now and I don't find it that bad. Better than some of the stuff I've seen before on GB.

It's kind of scary at times. I mean. We're all excited for Guild Wars 2 coming out. But when it comes to people going off like a loose cannon when a negative word is in the same sentence as Guild Wars 2. People need to tone down the fanaticism.
I won't like GW2 because when I play it and enjoy myself, I'll feel so guilty that I'm somehow enjoying this when so many sad internet people disagree with me.
I hate that feeling of guilt.
Somehow I manage to enjoy games I enjoy anyways, even if they get bad reviews (Like Dragon's Dogma). I'll just have to live with this aching, burning sensation in my gut that my enjoyment is somehow spiting the hard work all these people have done on MMORPG.com.
I am ... truly ... not worthy. +1

Gyoin here! Yes, that's actually me in the video! /gasp!
Alright, for those of you that have watched it and responded, positively or negatively, I appreciate it. We do these things not only to curb our appetite for GW2, but also to try to give back to the everygrowing community. We love this community and we do everything we can to support it.
For those that didn't view and commented anyway, then hey, you can argue without any knowledge of the topic at hand. That's ok too, that's your choice of the internet. You are the people who spur the conversations quite truthfully. If it weren't for the hate posts, there would be fewer love posts.
Anyways, we did this podcast because we wanted to try something different. Our other podcasts are full of gushy fanboy love that we wanted to try to devil's advocate approach. I'm glad we did too after the response we've seen on multiple sites. But to be truthful, we wanted to do this topic a couple weeks ago but it took us FOREVER to come up with things we didn't like about the game. It was a stretch. That's why a couple of our topics seem a little out there, but we felt they were validated for our discussion points. If you like it, sweet! I'm glad you did. If you didn't, ok that's not your taste and we understand that.
Oh, and for the people that don't like the cursing and random dirty talks, sorry but we decided after trying to censor our talk we just weren't expressing ourselves as comfortably, hence the disclaimer.
Edit : Oh, I've never posted on this site before? Man, I've been lurking for a good six and a half years,,,,

Glad I could spur you out of lurking and entice you to make your first post here!
Also being this site has featured articles playing devil's advocate. You'd think people would be used to it by now. The video title was great for causing a stir along with some laughs from the video's content itself.
Enjoyed the entire one and a half hour pod-cast. Looking forward to seeing more to tide me over until Guild Wars 2 is released.

I agree. GW2 will fail because it doesn't have fishing! They need to put that in ASAP! 8-)
