LotRO has the best music of any mmorpg. What other game has beautiful tracks and lets you learn numerous instruments to form player bands?
Absolutely lovely song that plays both in the Trollshaws and in Evendim. The ambient music playing while inside the Inns was exceptional. Music played by a band of dwarves in main hall in Thorin's Hall. Many more.
AoC and WoW certainly have great tracks, but the lack of player instruments gives LotRO the victory in overall mmorpg music.
I would have to say AoC has been my favorite in terms of music. In particular the vocals of Helene Bøksle. I would also agree that the music for WoW is highly underrated. I particularly liked the music in the Storm Peaks zone.
I just recently started playing Aion and while I find the game itself to be not to my likeing I was overwhelmed by how much I thoroughly enjoyed the music. So I ask what MMO do you think has the best music? Here are a few to wet your appetite.

I never really got into LoTRO, but the player bands is just one of those things that i wish other games would really pick up on an potentiolly improve the concept.

You bastard Especially the Prophecies Theme sent chills to my spine. Immediately remembered the epic times I had in the original GW. First time reaching Lions Arch, first time completing Thunderhead Keep, first time completing the game. Back when there were only those bad henchmen and you really wanted to have full teams that knew what they were doing
I met most of the ppl I still play MMORPG's with in Guild Wars. The holiday events used to be awesome in GW1. So much silly fun, conga lines with Gaile Gray lol before everything got spoiled by trolls.
does not matter the single people taste ...Lineage 2 and the composer bill brown first and Inon Zur later did the best complete soundtrack that a game could have .. i mean a true one..it was even played as a live concert in Korea from a Philarmonic Orchestra..think there arent much game soundtracks that did that
u should look at intro music and the other ones ..they are epic, folk and such ..think are more than hundred songs...do a search for l2 korean concert (youtube or vimeo should have yet it) and ask to ppl that played Lineage 2 ...Aion is close yes but not at the same lvl...u could also search for Bill Brown web site and see the bio

Actually lots of game OSTs have been performed by major orchestras; especially Final Fantasy which tours all rhe time.

Cello music in WoW's Eversong Woods (BC expansion) is one of my favorites. The Orc theme from (old) Barrens is pretty wicked also.
Ken Fisher - Semi retired old fart Network Administrator, now working in Network Security. I don't Forum PVP. If you feel I've attacked you, it was probably by accident. When I don't understand, I ask. Such is not intended as criticism.
When i played WOW I'd hearth back to darnassus just so I could log out specifically in that area. When it's 4:00am and you are BARELY awake, it's pure bliss watching Tyrande's ghostly owl flying in the rays of light from the ceiling dome with those violins in the background. That temple is pure magic, hell I'd call it a spiritual experience !
It was EverQuest hands down for me , then it got an even tie with Star Wars the Old Republic. Ofc.. Hells March from Red Alert 2 should be in there..just cuz..
For me it's Granado Espada, Aion & Ragnarok Online. I find these games' music pleasant, particularly for Aion & GE since it's mixed with classical instruments
I love the ambient style of music, so EVE Online and GW2 definitely win it out for me. I've caught myself just sitting in the middle of nowhere in a system in EVE-O, listening to the music as I drift through space. It really puts you there.
And my one regret on not getting the CE of GW2 instead of the digital deluxe version is the fact I missed out on the music CD. Here's hoping someone rips it. ~cough~
This is a very hard decision for me. Considering how many I've played and been a long term part of. If I had to go on overall musical "quality" and original direction, I would have to say Anarchy Online. However, if I went with pure raw emotional feeling when I hear something... I'd have to go with Ultima Online.

I vote for Ragnarok Online:

Wrong. Most of the music in SWTOR is not from movies.
Sith Warrior - Story of Hate and Love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxKrlwXt7Ao
Imperial Agent - Rise of Cipher Nine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBBj3eJWBvU&feature=youtu.be
Imperial Agent - Hunt for the Eagle Part 1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQqjYYU128E
WoW - especially Lich King expansion music
LOTRO - especially Rivendell, The Shire, Evendim and Great River
+1 for Mabinogi, was wondering how long it would take for someone to mention it. I quite like most of their boss themes.

I agree, I've recently noticed the music on several occasions when logging in.
I really like it.
