Great plug. Taugrim definitely hits a lot of good points, as he tends to do.
I don't 100% agree with his assessment that 'blaming gamers is a stupid argument', but I agree that in his context he's right. I still think that we 'gamers' are to blame for a variety of problems in the industry, but it's mostly because we (as a whole) support really bad games, bad mechanics, and bad business models.
There are definite exceptions to this, but there are lots of examples of bad games, with shady business models that are insanely successful (D3 / ME3).
it isn't the fans of the genre that created the games or the failing mechanics in said games. It is the overzelous ones that voice them the most though.
Also did he say there was nothing wrong with SWTOR?
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

Is he trying to tell me that he plays GW2 because he actually likes it and not because of the hype? Unbelievable! Where does he get off actually linking the game and not blindly hating it because it's popular?

You mean the point in the video where he specifically states that he think SWTOR was released too early, and without enough content?
try watching the correct video before responding......
still not sure what your point is he is very critical of swtor in many ways

EDIT: Ahhhh you meant the fanboi video. Yeah, a bit confusing when you say skip to 2:30 in response to a post with a direct video link and are in fact talking about another video.
Okay so that said, way to take something completely out of context. Yes, he uttered the words "there is nothing wrong with SWTOR." But he obviously meant that there is nothing wrong in someone liking SWTOR. This is pretty clear given that he made a 12 minute video criticizing SWTOR.

So the funniest part is.. well first taugrim is awesome ... so getting back to the funny part, people are going to sit in this thread and agree to everythign and say hes right and can't believe people do dumb stuff liek that.
But then GO RIGHT BACK OUT and start trolling. =P
The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true.

I didn't know about his videos when I played Rift, but when I started playing SWTOR and pvp'ing, I found a link to his blog and the guy is not only exceptional at theorycrafting but also at explaining the WHY's and HOW's of a build.

taugrim did say nothing is wrong with swtor.. but why he was saying it was a totally differn't context.. he was trying to show he wasn't a hater of swtor and it's fine to like that game... anyway moving on.

His sPvP videos in GW2 are really well made, I watch those alongside Team Paradigms videos (though theirs can be harder to understand).
What I like about Taugrim's PvP vids is he not only discusses the point of the build, and why he choose what he did; but he also discusses the tradeoffs / downsides to his build. Most recently he made a video looking at the potential to 'stunlock' in GW2. He found that he could create a build that did just that, however in order to do so he had to sacrifice damage, and CC breakers.
I think videos like that really show off just how balanced GW2's pvp is so far. It's not perfect, but I haven't seen any builds that are able to stack heavily into any one thing without sacrificing the rest.

Gotchya. Ya I took it as 'nothing is wrong w/ liking SWTOR', not as 'SWTOR has no flaws'.
I admit that I love playing WoW. But I've played it forever and I'm looking for something new. Unfortunately MMO devs having been producing games just like WoW. I don't need another WoW, I already have one.
I'm super excited about GW2 because it is aiming to be different. I hope it is. I plan on playing it for some time to come. And when I need to take a break, WoW will still be there. And when I need to take a break from WoW, I hope GW2 will still be there. Hell, I might even play both at the same time.
I don't understand the need for a WoW killer, or why everything else needs to fail.
/shrug/
Ego.
Some people are not satisfied with being a player of "the best PVE" or "the best PVP" or "the best RP" game; They want to be the player who is on "the best game in all of existence".
WoW in general was seen as the best game of all MMOs, and some people see that as a bragging right, something that makes them above the "losers who play all the other shitty games". It also means they become threatened the moment something looks like it could be successful AND is doing something different. They generally cannot grasp the idea of a game being different from what they are playing AND being successful, so they become angry. And you know what happens when fanbois get angry...
NOW BEFORE SOMEONE GOES BERSERK ON ME:
This doesn't apply to everyone; only the people who cannot accept the idea of competition between various good games and feel the need to dominate everything to the point of stagnation.
That's not really what he's saying is it? He's saying that the more MMOs there are, the better. It doesn't matter if you or I or anyone else doesn't like all three of those games, or even one of those games, what matters is that they are there. The more MMOs there are the better it is for MMO gaming, because variety is what sustains a varied audience.

Good video. I always try a game out in beta to see if I want to play it. Hype means nothing If I'm not having fun in a game. I've always hoped when a new game comes out that it does well, it's a win, win for us all if we have more mmos competing for our time and money.

Words of wisdom from Ed Park.
One of the most informative, intelligent and down to earth broadcasters/bloggers on the net. Always well worth watching.

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
I'm sorry, I assumed you meant us to use the one in your post?
To paraphrase the video currently in your quote:
'I believe SWTOR was pushed out too early by EA.' 'The lvl experience from 1-50 was great! After that there wasn't as much content or stuff to do.'
I'm not sure what video you thought you posted, but maybe you should watch the whole thing, before you use it to prove a point?
