Worst PVP I've seen in a while

gildarbucgildarbuc Member Posts: 10

Here is a short pvp review

Good

-You can pvp from lvl one

-You roll a lvl 80 toon and have at it.  This makes it so much easier than to grind a toon to 80 to find out that class sux in pvp.

-instances are easy to get into for now and the ques are instant.

Bad

-The pvp runs heavy.  I have a very high end machine with a 15 meg connection and my mouse feels like it weighs 5 lbs

-As in most games the class balance is way off.  Tanks with heals are almost not worth trying to kill one on one.  They do more dmg than they should.

-The game rolls from one instance into another and you stay with that group until players leave and new players enter in their place.  It feels like a huge treadmill and the instances start to run together.  If you hate a particular instance you are stuck dropping and coming into another group to avoid it.

-the game slows down in fights because of the lag and it frames a LOT more than it should.  Not bad but too much.

-there does not seem to be ANY reason to pvp other than to kill other players and get pvp exp.  With that exp you get chests of gear that will twink you a bit.  I am only lvl 10 pvp so I don't know how much the gear elevates your toon at later levels.  Certain classes just suck so read up so your not rolling that class.

-you change teams so your fighting a guy one instance and when you roll to the next one he is on your team.  I don't like that at all.  I want a bad guy to go after each run.

-I was up at 3 am to start pvping on Sat morning and on Monday night I have no desire to play the game.  That is about as fast as that has ever happened.

-the graphics are not that great.  Rift and SWTOR have better graphics and better pvp.

I have NOT done global pvp.  All i have done are instances.  If this were a subscription game I would have canceled it already.  There are MUCH better pvp games out there.  This isn't a bad game it just isn't good. I will keep playing it and hoping I find some pvp that is  fun to play.  I waited a LONG time for this game and it is not living up to the hype.  My buddies are saying the same things.  One is already back in Rift.

Rofl.  Rift warfronts are worse than GW2's sPVP by a long shot.  As is every other game.  Sorry, I haven't had the experience you are having.  I play a mesmer and it's a blast in pvp.  sPVP is meant to be for a quick fix, like a separate game.  More arena based.  More meaningful pvp you can have in the WvWvW.  The fact that you didn't even try it, makes your whole post irrelevant.

Your lag issues are due to your PC.  I have a newish PC, just built for me and I run smooth as butter in all things in GW2.  Have fun in whatever game you think has better PVP, personally I think you are full of it.

You say the PvP in this game is bad... but then you admit you didn't play the main PvP system?

  • KuppaKuppa Member UncommonPosts: 3,292

Completely disagree. Best pvp Ive seen, especially this early.

It seems your system is having issues running the game. So I would not generalize and say everyone will run into those issues, because for example it runs flawlessly for me.

I admit balance is still not there yet, but its way closer than many other games at start. As for Guardians they can be easily destroyed with the right builds. But I know what you mean, with mainly every build they are almost impossible 1v1.

Pvp is for fun, there are other stuff you can get but like in any spvp game even outside the mmo genre the main thing is fun. Every class is viable, pure bs on that one.

"Rift and SWTOR have better graphics and better pvp." - good luck trying to sell that one lol.

I dont like GW2 PvP, I think its terrible. But if your having performance issues and your using Nvidia; the 301.42 drivers are pretty messed up. Try updating to the latest beta drivers (304.72 I think) they work really well, or revert back to a legacy driver if your not comfortable with beta drivers.

"In the immediate future, we have this one, and then we’ve got another one that is actually going to be – so we’re going to have, what we want to do, is in January, what we’re targeting to do, this may or may not happen, so you can’t hold me to it. But what we’re targeting to do, is have a fun anniversary to the Ilum shenanigans that happened. An alien race might invade, and they might crash into Ilum and there might be some new activities that happen on the planet." ~Gabe Amatangelo

He's referring to certain guardian specs but although annoying I don't have issues killing them with my thief, little bit harder with my ranger. The only profession I see being nerfed is thief/heartseeker.

sPvP is for quick pvp matches similar to GW1 random arena. Looking more forward to GvG.

Please don't complain about balance though, the other games you mention have gear disparity on top of class balancing issues.. That's much worse.
  • gildarbucgildarbuc Member Posts: 10

There were 12 of us that came to this game and all of us are having the same game experience.  I hope everyone likes it but I/we am entitled to our opinions.  Not everyone is going to like this game even IF you like it.

I've seen a lot worse PvP, and recently too. Like a sci-fi game...most horrible PvP I've ever seen.

GW2 PvP is all about the warzones...like in DAOC

I agree with everything you posted.  The graphics, framing and gameplay are better in other games but the gear issues are a huge negative.  That is why we play sub 50 pvp in those games.

I can state my opinion. It's just as valid as anyone else's. I don't need to cater to your demands.

Every single criticism I read and think about it. There are many, many out there. If I commented on everyone I have read I would have as many posts as Loke666. I only comment on the ones that just are not right to me. This one is an example and I removed my comment because that was the right thing to do. :)

OP Got it right! Spot on!  Rift & SWTOR do have better graphics.  But the truth will never be heard, especially with this lot.

F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing.
    Even telemarketers wouldn't think that.
It costs money to play.  Therefore P2W.

I think the "you don't get gear"
And "rift and swtor have better pvp"
    Lines sum it up.

bro, the rift has some good graphics, but it doesn't compre to GW2, The only things i hate about GW2 is the pvp and the writing/voice acting for Humans and Sylvari (don't know about the other races, these two seem to be the goody two shoes horribly cliche crap)

I'll agree with the pvp, fully, i dislike it. Not my cup of tea at all.

The substance is found in the OP. Agreeing with the OP is to agree with all substance found there. So the comment you make is Unsubstantiated.

The second poster is saying that their experience mirrors or is equivalent to the OP in all or some of the items listed and as a whole their experience with the game “is garbage.”

Sure, that works. Now i'm also entitled to my opinion are I not?

I'm sure you will label me a fanboi, but what's it matter?

Here is my opinion. Leave the zergs. If you're feeling a cluster fuck, it's your own fault. When wars were waged over castles, did they 5 man them? No they zerged the shit out of them. Those are your castle/tower takes.

If you want less of a cluster feeling, try playing the way you oh so desire to. Rather than just zergs (Probably on Jade Quarrs, Sea of sorrows, or another LARGE populated server), try running around by yourself, more importantly over towards where the enemy would be coming from in 1 or 2 people, like on the way to supply points, or on the way to keeps from spawn point.

Hey you have your opinion, and mine thinks you have yours because you didn't give it a chance.

But i'm a fanboi, what do I know right?

That's always the problem with pvp, people always complain about class balance...work with that you got, not matter what there's always a way to win. Class balance will always be an issue no matter how much they tweak the classes. It only worsens gameplay when they have to tweak all class skills.

SWTOR's pvp is way inferior to GW2's pvp.

Just really tired of seeing hundreds of peoples' opinions delegitimized by accusations of trolling or whatever. It's not just in the gw2 forum.. it happens in all these forums. Don't agree with something someone said? Just do whatever to reduce legitmacy of the opinion of the poster. It's a ridiculous game to play.

No one's scoring points here for defending gw2. You don't get a free "easy button" or a private server for number of times you avidly make frothed-mouthed counters to naysayers of your favorite new toy.

I didn't notice a big imbalance at all in PvP. In fact, all the classes seem to be viable. And by the way, there's no such thing as a 'tank' really, LOL. And SWTOR graphics better than GW2??? LMAO. Honestly, most of your post just seems to be a learn to play issue.
