-instances are easy to get into for now and the ques are instant.

I'm pretty sure this is a troll post but I'll bite.

    Bad

-The pvp runs heavy.  I have a very high end machine with a 15 meg connection and my mouse feels like it weighs 5 lbs

    Huh?

-As in most games the class balance is way off.  Tanks with heals are almost not worth trying to kill one on one.  They do more dmg than they should.

No they don't,  I'm guessing you're talking about the high survivabilty guardian build which yes can tank 4 people for a pretty long time, but they do almost no damage.

-The game rolls from one instance into another and you stay with that group until players leave and new players enter in their place.  It feels like a huge treadmill and the instances start to run together.  If you hate a particular instance you are stuck dropping and coming into another group to avoid it.

I really don't understand why any of this is a problem.

-the game slows down in fights because of the lag and it frames a LOT more than it should.  Not bad but too much.

I have a mid range computer and honestly haven't encountered a single bit of lag yet.

-there does not seem to be ANY reason to pvp other than to kill other players and get pvp exp.  With that exp you get chests of gear that will twink you a bit.  I am only lvl 10 pvp so I don't know how much the gear elevates your toon at later levels.  Certain classes just suck so read up so your not rolling that class.

No class sucks, I've actually made it my thing to take any class that people say suck and try to rape with it.  I've succeeded on all but one, Necro's just aren't for me lol but I've seen great necros.

No offense man but it's probably just you.

-you change teams so your fighting a guy one instance and when you roll to the next one he is on your team.  I don't like that at all.  I want a bad guy to go after each run.

The teams would be completely unbalanced if that happened.

-I was up at 3 am to start pvping on Sat morning and on Monday night I have no desire to play the game.  That is about as fast as that has ever happened.

Unless you just aren't good I can't figure out why.

-the graphics are not that great.  Rift and SWTOR have better graphics and better pvp.

    lol ok bro.

I have NOT done global pvp.  All i have done are instances.  If this were a subscription game I would have canceled it already.  There are MUCH better pvp games out there.  This isn't a bad game it just isn't good. I will keep playing it and hoping I find some pvp that is  fun to play.  I waited a LONG time for this game and it is not living up to the hype.  My buddies are saying the same things.  One is already back in Rift.

    -

Haven't heard a single person in game that isn't completely enjoying the game. In fact what I've heard is as opposite of this as humanly possible.

I'd be very surprised if this wasn't a troll post.

But if not what class are you playing? Explain more technical reasons why you beleive the pvp isn't good.

If WoW was released today even in its' entirety it would be f2p in 3 months.
Why is it still such a big deal?

Well I'm kind of saving pvp till endgame, don't want to ruin that new car smell of level 80 till I get there. We are all entitled to our opinnions though and if some feel it's not good or as good as another game that's fine. I'm a streetfighter fan and never saw why folks like mortal kombat but would always take it light heartedly and not try to belittle them for it or let that bother me. For some of us games seems to be akin to religious debate.

This one jumped out at me.

There is no reason to PvP other than to play PvP and get exp ?

How is that different from PvE ?

There is no reason to PvE other than to play PvE and get exp ?

No attempt to flame you, or anyone who shares your opinion, but what do you expect from playing a game ? What should it provide you with other than in game rewards in order for you to feel as if you have a reason to play ?

I'm not a big PvP'er by nature, so your points sounded well thought out until you lost credibility by saying SWTOR and Rift have better graphics.  Seriously... lol

You can never tell what is going to happen when classes are imvolved....The class that is OP today may be nerfed tomorrow, and the class that is UP may be given huge boosts and itbecomes OP.......Balancing classes has always been a major problem in any game with PVP and it probably always will.
  • GamefunGamefun Member Posts: 290

You honestly believe swtor graphics look better than guild wars 2?. Please let me in on whatever crack pipe you are smoking.

swtor sucks period, which is why it flopped and went f2p and why all the management got laid off.

If I had to say a game was better in place of guild wars 2, it would be mario bros 3 over swtor any day of the week.

You only played from Friday-Saturday through Monday and you are already saying the whole game sucks?...

Yeah, your word of mouth isn't even worth noting at all...

An to that I say "Nurf not! Least ye be nurfed!" or "OP'd today and nurfed tomorrow."

Sooner or later your nurfed class will be OP'd so ride it fast before it returns to the nurf pile.

Standard pvp in GW2 is nothing more than mini Alliance Battles from the original game. Not impressed at all.

Guild Wars 2 isn't even "PvP". All you can do is play a copy of WoW's Wintergrasp endlessly where nobody ever wins or loses, just for the sake of it. There's no open world PvP, no arenas, no battlegrounds, nothing. Just that one nosense zergfest.

    Disappointing, to put it nicely.

If you don't like GW2 PVP then don't play.

Now stop the QQing, your going to get the forums all soggy.

for anyone that has played wow pvp, how would you compare it to gw2 pvp?

I would NOT agree that the game is garbage but it is certainly designed to remove any challenge or sense of accomplishment besides the foolish Super Mario jumping puzzles.

The game has been so streamlined and simplified that it is almost plays itself....   it feels like the target audience are children or adult that don't have time or attention span to play a challenging game.

PvP runs well on my machine but it is just blah.  There is no risk, it encourages insta respawn lemmings to keep throwing themselves into the battle after they lost.   Players can't build anything or make anything, just swap towers for an negiligible game buff.

PvE is interesting and DE are a good idea just implements poorly.   They are nothing but a Zerg of players steam rolling a simple scripted encounter.

Immersion,  haha.   The game is so child like and hand holding to is tough to get immersed in anything.

Exploration ???   is that what you call walking around small zones with a magic GPS/Radar map ?   Seriously only a blind person couldn't complete the painfuly simple and obvious area discovers.

Meaningful Character development ?   So thats what you call the homogenization of tradtional MMO roles and class until everyclass does everything and you can level up everything in a week of just wandering around while spamming 1-5 ?

The art is good, the game engine is great, but the game feels like playing with an army of kids rushing around the Mall on a sugar high.   Things like discovering, reading, thinking, exploring as pushed aside for instant gratification and FUN FUN FUN !!!

The game is FUN...no doubt,  but so is eating your weight in cotton candy.  I guess the big thing missing from all the fun is a satisfying challenge.   I am still holding out for a more mature MMO and not another MMO DayCare or the A.D.D kids.

This is the problem. Like the poster before you stated, the SPvP is nothing more than a mini Alliance Battle. So lame.

5v5 should stay in MOBA, not MMOs.

we only get WvW (which is sometimes fun just full most of the time)

    And lame old 5vs5.

We don't get any sort of large scale Instanced structure PvP.. Like 20vs 20 or 40vs 40 battles with unique objectives than the 5v5 and WvW PvP.

Same pvp people have been playing for a decade.

    No risk death in pvp.

Lots of instance queues or a zerg map.

Pick the best class then faceroll then when it gets nerfed torch the forums and hate the game.

Just keep grinding those queues in your "best class" over and over pretending this is a new and groundbreaking game!

This part is priceless, specially about SWTOR having better PvP (and graphics, too).

I guess some people can't live without overpowered PvP gear (resilience or expertise) giving them a huge advantage against those who didn't grind for weeks or even months yet.

actually the priceless part is anyone that disagrees with you is wrong.  My post mentioned NOTHING about pvp gear or an advantage but i will play the class that is hardest to kill.  I think the graphics are better in SWTOR and RIFT but that is personal preference.  Some people like WOW's graphics, I do not.

One sign of a weak person is to disparage those who disagree with them, like you do in ALL of your 2,000++ -posts.

How dare you defy the almighty The_Korrigan!  I mean, you dare to have an opinion that differs from his!  Don't you know that his opinion is the only one that counts?  /sarcasm off.   If you prefer another game to the flavor of the month, then have fun playing your game of choice.  Hooray individuality!

Graphics are an overall thing, it doesn't have to mean technical prowess, he could just simply prefer the style. SO how does one of the most subjective points he brought up, lose him his credibility?

I gave in and figured all the fan boys had to be on to something, so I pre purchased. I played  off and on over the weekend and some again tonight. This game is terribad. I cannot get into it at all, i felt like I was just running around with random un grouped players, using zero strategy zerging random encounter mobs. The classes all feel like they play so similar as to be ridiculous. I may be judging way to early, but the good games I've played, the ones I've went OCD over grabbed me right up front, hell even swtor grabbed me up front with my first toon, well at least until i got to 50. This game has been the definition of Meh for me to this point.
