i think SWG beta charged for the disk,, but only a fool company would add a monthly fee to a test.

i would of loved to be active in mourning if it came out the way you had it in the FAQ and its features -it could of been a great game-..

if Ego you cant deal with people not liking your game, down to the part where we insult the devs then leave the internet.. you are the dev team, you are making the game, you made to choice to have people pre-order for beta slots and you lied about the other beta slots for those who didnt pre-order (THANKS FOR LYING.. 4500 testers? noway anymore)
-you constantly try to protect your game, but you do nothing to make the game better and get more people into wanting to buy it.
Take its fee off, take off the serial fee and refund EVERYONE who bought one and put it in open beta so you can actually get testers..

Still waiting for what the 40% discount was, I guess missleading/fraudulent advertising is not a "ethic" problem. "Old billing company"-excuse does not cut it, its your game sold & refunds are handled by you (you =being whoever is in charge). The cd-r with beta content & blank dvd case (2$ value for all of it) is hardly worth the extra money.
Took only one month (note the sarcasm) of whining/posting on this & your own board to get a simple warning that the game is in a "development period" when fundamental features are missing (no global chat, ton of bugs/lag/bad hardware/etc hardly any content). (1 month since client was posted on Fileplanet).
Asking the fans to do quests & items for the game would have been a nice feature if it was not for the complete lack of content to begin with(!) . Compensating fans for making quests & such is also out the window I guess with the shitty lap record Mourning has.
You guys just don't understand....
To Egomancer, Mourning is not only the best mmo ever made, but the best video game ever produced. It is without any bugs. It is without any faults.
- If you crash after playing it for 30 seconds, it is ofcourse your crappy computer that is going out.
- If you can't target a mob right in front of you without the game saying you are too far away... if it ofcourse not a problem with the perfect game... It is instead you, the player, must be drunk or lying about your witness of game problems.
- If the server goes down for hours on end, it must be your lame internet connection for as we all know, nobody has a more advanced internet connection than the 3rd world country of Romania, where everyone, and everything that they build is perfect and without fault.
- If you think that the skills have absolutely no effect on your avatar, you are mistaken ofcourse. All your avatars skills are directly linked to egomancers azz and he feels the joys of your skills increased size.. so keep expanding them!
- If you think there are less then 20 different mobs in the whole world, then ofcourse you are wrong again. Each one is completely different and has its own random name such as "grffunnnk" and "Utiloxinoz" so that means there are literelly HUNDREDS of mobs in the world! :P
- If you think that the game is not worth $9 a month, then go ahead and quit. Egomancers hand selected billing company will go ahead and double or triple bill you long after you cancel your account. Or they will just bill you for an odd $40 as they did to me after playing for about 17 days then canceling. I paid $19.95 then about 2 weeks after canceling my account and getting a confirmation cancel, I was charged by the same billing company a bizzarre $40.00 even. (Which I simply disputed with my bank, who quickly reversed it)
- If you think you can't craft while playing Mourning.. you are absolutety mistaken. All you need to do is buy crafting materials and craft something in real life as you wait for the game to reboot from another yet another crash.
- If you think the game is too easy simply because after playing for 10 hours, you can 1 hit kill any mob in the world, it really isn't too easy. You just need to stand on your head while drunk and try playing blindfolded as well. See there?? Perfect game!
Egomancer will not ever admit that this game is a total flop.
More importantly, Ego will never admit to any foulplay on the Mourning forums.
Mourning is perfect. Egomancer is perfect. It's truly every other game and person that is f'd up.

About the 40 percent problem. Ego likes to go off-topic and not answer question or reply with a inadequate response. You took one point and tried to get around the questions and my replys. You like to go one "Well we moved billing!@!!@!". For the last time, people have been ripped off, and you are still responble for the neglict and/or out right fraud of giving the billing company your fanboi's CC numbers. Charging without notice is illegal. Whether it was the milk-man, God, or someguy that works in your offices fault- your company is responsible. Lets repost and mabye you can stay on-topic.
Either way, Dave choose that billing company, and can be sued for negliance because of all the double billing and pre-ship billing. All of his customer's Credit Cards are with a bizaree company that currently Dave has refused to give a name.
The pre-orders NEVER recieved there 10 dollars back from the pre-order. No notice, no shippment, no warning about how they were going to recieve a old CD-RW with a old beta. I doubt very much this was a suprise to Dave. I have NEVER seen a billing company charage without orders from the top. If this was a suprise, I want to see you saps suing the billing companys ass. It is so illegal, it could result in a massive win in a class action lawsuit against them. But we all know that Dave ordered it. The new billing doesn't seem much better. Juile is still taking how see got charaged 3 TIMES for something she didn't want. Zaxtor and many others get charaged very bizarre non-standard fees. I can see a computer coming up with doublie billing but never flat fees.
Accident or not, the law doesn't care. It is illegal to charage people 1) before it ships(with promise not to) and 2) Send CD-RW to get around laws 3) Come without notice 4) Triple billing for people that didn't want it in the first place. 5) Billing for A TOTALLY INADQUATE PRODUCT that nobody believed you would release. If you were a quality business you would have given all the money back to the pre-orders that the billing company took. Full refund, let the gamers order it on there own. Nope, dave took it with pride. He even gave them quality emails back replying that he had "no authority" to give refunds.
Again, Ego and the other devs only can argue one point, and lose badly at that. They ingore my other 20 points, my other 50 link's points and other's groups of points. This "development" message is also a joke. It is misleading, and confuses your customer's further. Many around the net ask is mourning released or still in beta? This game isn't in "development" it is a released game, charging UO standard fees yet it in a beta-like state. Your attempting to make a profit- not exactly a characistic of a developmental game. Games that are "in development" aren't charging monthly fees, but are testing for the sake of getting the product ready for being a acceptable release for people to pay. So please a more suitable statement would be "Dave decided to ship a alpha/beta game with a unstable server and scam pre-orders(guess he wanted the cash early). The game is released and no way still a non-profit beta, and this will be the final price. There is a difference between "beta" and "beta-like game state". Mabye it will improve someday."
Ego, you made your proverbial bed, go peddle your ideas to the few people left who will support it. Your time to make some money off the game has passed. New mmorpgs are on the verge of release, and none of them carry the baggage of Mourning....

I wonder if the disk really will be worth somthing someday? The weight of the plastic alone is worth more in recycle value then the game itself.

Hell I'd pay more then that value (about 10 cents) to use it as something to scoop my dog poop onto the shovel with when I clean up after my black labs mess in my backyard on the weekends.
...You know when shoveling doggy poo, sometimes you get that stubborn turd that just dont wanna get on the shovel and ya damn sure ain't gonna touch it. That Cd might come in damn handy for times like that!

I just read about this whole Mourning fiasco after I was thinking where the hell Mourning went! I couldn't find it on the game list... I was never into the game, but still was curious to see what happened. In one of the screenshots of the chat with that @sshole developer, the guy actually stooped as low as to insult our country as a whole . Check out those screenshots from the chat. Unbelievable what this POS company did. And all the double charges, and then random charges?? Somethingawful.com had a hilarious article about the game that really sums up how horrible this company is. Oh, and I decided to visit the main forums for the game, and they actually sensor out "mmorpg.com". No joke! Go check it out if you don't believe me www.realmsoftorment.com ! What a horrible company. You'd have to either be very stupid or mildly retarded to dish out all the lies, scams, and insults that company produced. They destroyed themselves. What idiots.

Illegal is selling a game with advertised features missing and not making it clear on the product description.
Example selling a PC with the following feature advertised:
-P4 3.0 / Radeon 9800 Pro / 2 Gb Ram
In fact the product contains the following:
-AMD Athlon 2.4 / no Graphic card / 512 Mb Ram
That s what you ve done for 2 months, selling a game as finished, but with lots of advertised feature missing.
Unethical is selling a product with missing advertised features, and write a warning in "small print", hoping that no one will notice it.
That s what you ve done with your last attempt to put things straight.
If it wasn't for the fact that you told us where to find the warning, I would never find out by myself.
Your warning looks like part of the introduction of the game and it is difficult to spot, since 90% of people doesn't read the game introduction.
You should write it in Bold like the warning that you have to pay to play the game.
So after 2 months of illegal business, the game is finally legal (well.....sort of)
It is still unethical though, which in this case, doesn't make any difference, actually it make it worse, since it looks like you are trying to insult our intelligence.

Testers give their time to help a game, not their UO standard monthy fee. Betas are for testing to a releasable condition. A beta-like game condition is different, the game has gone gold(released) in ALL respects. I have no problem with you attacking the game- i couldn't care less. But saying, for example, that a principal could be sued because of the negligence of an agent is not the whole story. An agent that behaves negligently can be called to account by the principal (ie. in the case of Mourning billing, LE is sued by a disguntled consumer, LE then join the agent billing company to the action).
Please post factual accuracies otherwise this thread descends into puerile childish nonsense, as it already has done. In fact what is the point of this thread anymore? The few pertinent issues were stated about a million pages back - its getting very tiresome now.
