I look forward to giving this a try. It's the first and only thing I've ever liked on facebook. Here's a list of my favorite MMO's. Plus what I liked most about them. I'm hoping this game will suit my taste.
Ultima Online (Pre-trammel) - I loved the danger and the search for loot! The need to be aware of your surroundings.
Asheron's Call Darktide (Pre slide casting) - I loved the politics and the way clans could lock down certain areas of the map.
Shadowbane - Clan politics and the need to be on your toes wherever you were in the world. Nightly clan events!
World of Warcraft - They tried... That's about all I can say..it was fun for a few years but no danger, so no fun.
Eve - I would have loved this one, but after a few hours in game I would get dizzy and nearly throw up.
Darkfall - I could have played this one forever. But a non communicative dev team killed this for me.
Why did I list all those games? Because I wanted to speak on what excited me about Albion.
1. Full loot/ Open PVP - I agree that this promotes crafting, and the need to go out into the world to replenish your supplies.
2. Territory control - I have to play these games with friends. I currently help lead an alliance of clans with over 100 players, and without team oriented goals people will stop logging in over time.
3. Developer Interaction - Just in this one post, and looking over the home page I see Dev's that get it. They seem to want to be part of the community that they are creating. Not just to exploit it for as much as they can and close up shop.
Items and resources can only be bought from other players.
Sold. When can I start playing?
When we will all can ^^ just like their facebook page and we'll be getting updates from them, I keep the website tab pinned as well to keep an eye on things.

Phew, you put a lot of pressure on us^^. But thank you for the kind words. I am a bit worried that we wont be able to satisfy all these expectations, in the end we are just a small independent team who has worked not even a year on this project. But we will do our best to deliver the best possible product (with as few bugs as possible )

I'll definitely try it. Infact I will help crowdfund it if I am given the chance. Now with that in mind, and forgive me if this has been asked, will there be a crowdfunding campaign via kickstarter or elsewhere?
Also a newsletter subscription on the website wouldn't be a bad idea either.
My question. Can houses be destroyed? It was stated earlier that your house acts as a vault. I don't mind being killed and looted, but I would mind if my home can be destryoed and looted.
Sounds cool, but need more info regarding the 'free to play' system. You can just buy in game gold? Fail to see how that will be beneficial to a player driven economy.

Yes I know. My question was rhetorical.
And my reply to yours was the best I could come up with for someone that looks old enough to be my dad, if I didn't know that I probably would've gone with something a bit more funny :P.

Thanks.
Yes they can be destroyed. In theory you can loose everything and you end up with the same naked charakter you started the game with years ago.
BUT...
... loosing a territory and thus your house is a more complicated process which involves declaring war and such
... once the war arrives at your area there is still time to bring your stuff to a safer place
General:
In general one big difference in Albion Online is the higher turnaround of items and equipments. You can relatively easy create a Tier 2 set for instance on the one hand but you can relatively easy loose it. So the disappointment a lot of people are expecting is not that hard then one might think. You get knocked down more often (compared to other MMOs) but standing up is also easier.
I'll definitely try it. Infact I will help crowdfund it if I am given the chance. Now with that in mind, and forgive me if this has been asked, will there be a crowdfunding campaign via kickstarter or elsewhere?

Yap good point with the newsletter. However we wanted to be a bit more modern and focus on Facebook and Twitter mainly. Forum will follow soon.
Regarding Kickstarter. Actually we wanted to do that but we found out it is more complicated, you either need to have a business in UK or USA to do that and since we are all coders and artists (and no business men) it took a while until we figured a way out to solve this
We will probably do either kickstarter or a founders programm like Mechwarrior Online did. But still our key focus lies on the product itself every day, so might take a few more weeks/month until we get this started.
Well I really like the sound of your game design. I will definitely be giving it a go and bring some friends if I don't forget about it by the time it comes out.
I don't own a tablet myself, but I can see why you went that route even if its not one I personally would prefer. and the graphics look well done for what they are for.
I think no levels could definitely work but it puts more pressure on other parts of the game like crafting/ecconomy/combat to be engaging.
but I see you have played haven and hearth, so if you have a crafting/building/industry system as deep as them I think you can nail it.
my only real question is what is the combat like? I hope its at least real time, like I swing in a direction and can hit or miss.

When you're at a point where you are ready to do so, here's the info for submitting your game to MMORPG.com to have a section here:
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
my only real question is what is the combat like? I hope its at least real time, like I swing in a direction and can hit or miss.
Our combat is of course real time. Which was btw the most difficult part to get that right. There is such a huge difference in creating a PvE only MMO and one with good working PvP.
You probably have to see the combat itself but I think it is best described as a mixture of UO and LOL.

So, you're saying that older people intimidate you such that you lose your ability to properly exchange mildly witty retort?
BTW, commas are generally used to reduce ambiguity in a sentence. It's interesting how you used one to create it.

Not really just that I prefer to be a bit more respectful towards those who show that their age is well earned ( there's a saying in my country for people who pass through an experience, or even life in general, without learning much or gaining experience and that's "they passed through life like gease through water" ). That said if you want I could be less considerate <.< old man.
when will a sandbox developer do something original with the PvP for once.
Anyway, its a interesting concept. I will check it out.
Full loot adds so much to a game imo.
I know a lot of people cant look past it, and envision a world where high level players are ganking them non stop for their loot.
Its sad really, considering full loot does wonders for a games economy and makes crafting vital.
In the end, full loot games always make gear very easy to obtain and stockpile. Trade off for potentially losing stuff is pvp that has risk, which is good...pve that has some excitement...crafting made a key component of the game rather than a side dish.
People need to get over the fear of losing pixles. Your never losing that putple raid set that took 3 months to get....and only those who refuse to adapt get griefed. It does take some getting use to...learning when to bank, learning to perhaps scout an area first, learning to stay by freindlies or clan member, and learning to accept loss of improve.
Its exactly this crowd of people who begs for something different yet refuses to play games that dont follow the same old trend. Its different and risk is involved...which imo, give the game a layer of depth that no themepark can match.
Game looks good btw.
Well, full loot have its advantages and disadvantages.
Most speakers for it are usually talking about realism however and that isnt exactly true. While a captured knights armor were looted IRL back then the thing is that how much crap you could carry seriously limited looting.
With a realistic weight and space inventory full looting actually work together with more focus on crafting and less on gear stats. But any single PK should really not be able to loot anybody naked, he would have to choose the good stuff and leave the rest, based on weight and how easy the crap is to carry.
You could of course have a mule or a packing horse but that is something other players would see and would flag you as someone who is good to loot (and steal the mule).
After a huge battle your side have won things were different than if you killed a few enemies in the woods, then there were more time and logistics for looting of course.
So I am not against full loot myself as long as inventory is realistic as well. Sadly it never is.
OP: I must admit that those screenshots looks rather nice, I have to try this out...
Bercilak, i don't think a simple "when dead, items can drop/ get destroyed system" is giving real value to items.
on the contrary i think it's also devalueing them.
If you are familiar with Lineage 2, you probably know their pvp system from many chronicles ago.
In old school L2, if a player attacked you, his name turned from white to purple. If a player attacks back, his name also becomes purple. If two purple characters kill eachother, a general xp loss happens to the one who dies, and the name of both of them returns to being white after like 30 seconds.
If a purple players keeps on attacking a white players and kills him (without him attacking back) the attackers name changes from purple to red. He is now labeled a PKer, gets "karma points" and can drop items when being killed by players. Players who attack a red player will stay white, and the only way for the red players to become white again is to clear all his karma points ( either by grinding mobs same lvl as you, or by dying).
White players can also drop items when being killed by mobs. Items are only dropped, not destroyed (giving you a chance to get them backs when being killed by a mob).
Lineage 2 really had much drama, tension. Guilds mattered, your reputation mattered, the items mattered etc.
You could kill anyone you want, but not without consequences, and "carebear" players could still loose items when they were killed by mobs ( either the regular way, or if someone buffs their mobs, which also makes the buffer purple for a short while) or if they accidently became red.
If your game on the other hand just has FFA pvp without any rules and regulations, even with safe zones, i doubt it will really cater to a "mature" audience, but will instead become a "niche pit for the internet-tough guy swags".
when will a sandbox developer do something original with the PvP for once.
Anyway, its a interesting concept. I will check it out.

If I remember correctly the OP did mentioned something about inventory space being limited, Hell if armour type affects how much you can carry (say a cloth armoured player can carry twice as much as a plate wearer and the leather guy is smack in between then things take on a dynamic of their own, perhaps inventory size can also be tweaked by having differing types of backpacks/satchels/etc, you get to choose one for good or ill, none of em prevent you from being looted).
Currently we have a weight system in place. However it is a very tricky job to balance this and still a job that needs to be done. But the idea is ofc that I can not run around and pick up one set after another.
We actually have the vision for Q3/Q4 to implement a hand cart (not sure if its the right word) and similar objects which reduce your movement speed but allow you to carry significantly more. But yeah thats just a vision so far. Currently we are workin on some basics like chat and worldmap, so still some miles to go.
