Very true.
But why would the devs want to make GW2 significantly better? There is no subscription and therefore less incentive to improve GW2. I think they are more likely to focus their efforts on either an expansion (that you would have to pay more for) or a GW3.

If they do not develop GW2 they will not generate any more money from the cashshop or any expansions that might come because players say the game is very bad and leave or that the game is running on a very old engine with bad graphics like some other MMOs out there.
Even kill off a GW3 future if the reputation is ruined.

Ah, that's also why they patch in more free content each month, often even twice a month, than other theme park games including the subscription based ones.
So it doesn't compare, GW2 with subs and you would hardly have 200k players.
GW2 is a zone loaded game without decent raid content, no world pvp and around 3 zillion loading screens.
Even to have a piss in a city you are directed to a loading screen.
End result: piss poor game, just like GW1: fire and forget. Not even an open seamless background loading world, so to me and many others it is not even a real open world mmorpg.

Either you've never played GW2, or you confuse the game with LOTRO where every building indeed has a loading screen.
Each time you enter a city you have a loading screen. Zillions of them all over the place. If a loading screen is the ONLY way of transportation to go somewhere, the game stops being a world.
I never go back in game design. So GW2 is 5 steps back in MMO design, from non seamless background loading worlds to the complete absence of such basic transportation things like horses, ships, and ... A ...wheel ?
that's not an mmorpg, that's lazy design and frankly cheaply constructed BS.

period.
You can't simply claim a game is not a MMORPG because of subjective personal opinions about what a MMORPG should be. GW1 was not a MMORPG. GW2 definitely is one.
And amusingly enough, GW2's world feels more a living, breathing world than many of those other WoW clone theme parks, where the world is dead and doesn't change. And don't get me started on games which had an amazing huge world at release and who completely ruined it by adding flying mounts everywhere... yes, it's about WoW I'm talking now.
I'm also a fan of open worlds, but I take GW2's living, breathing world, even if it's divided in HUGE zones, any time of the day instead of a huge seamless but dead world.
But thanks for sharing what is, of course, only your opinion. I wish you good fun chasing the ever elusive gear carrot in your beloved WoW.

rest is history.
Very clueless observation - there are huge zones that have no loading screens. GW2 compared to WoW, as far as size, GW2 is much bigger than the original game. GW1:Prophecies was bigger also. Nice but no cigar.
There are no loading screens if you run around a city except for 3 areas and they are all PS areas.

Guild Wars 2: zero subscribers.
