I like the game overall. I can see how many feel it is a boring game though. With zero risk in the game the rewards don't seem like much. There are no consequences to your actions as you don't really have the freedom to make the wrong or more difficult choice.
The game is still the same as it was at release OP. I wouldn't come back if I were you.
While the game is same mostly as it was in the release, you will find more challenge in it now.
Zergs aren't everywhere like at start, they are mostly at meta events found at http://guildwarstemple.com/ - outside of those events, its calm and you can occasionally see people running on and about. While this might lead you to thinking the game is dead, its not. Most servers are at full capacity but the people are just doing their daily chores, mostly in dungeons, WvW or fractals.
Since you own the game it wont hurt to try and play it again since you wont lose anything by doing so. Many bugs have been ironed out and classes have received changes, mostly not noticeable though.
Also look for a friendly guild to play with, this game is dead boring if you arent playing with other people, which is true for most MMO's and that's the core of MMO aspect too, you shouldn't treat them as single player games even though GW2 does function as such to some degree if you so wish.
Having said that, if you still find yourself not enjoying the game, its simply not for you. One game can never serve everyone.
I had fun getting to 80 on a couple of toons, rolling a few more alts, and starting to collect some decent looking gear. Once I realized there was effectively no world to live in as a max level toon, I quit. Haven't looked back. Seems everything they add is just more fluff thrown into an imperfect system; won't fix the reasons that those dislike GW2 don't enjoy it. More power to the people that do like the game, though.
I like the game overall. I can see how many feel it is a boring game though. With zero risk in the game the rewards don't seem like much. There are no consequences to your actions as you don't really have the freedom to make the wrong or more difficult choice.

the only games that did this good (present games that are still going strong that is) is EVE.
here is a tip...
go play a good sandbox game. dont play themeparks... its really that simple
themeparks dont have consequences like sandboxes... but this is a fact by now and should not need to be stated
which again makes this topic kinda useless since people are only aruging about what they think is good and bad
I was very excited about this game. So when the game went live, i got it the first day. I think that I played for about 4 straight months, and had a blast.
Some of the very fun and unique things I found in the game were:
1. The many, many hidden jumping puzzles. Not only are these fun to do, but many of them took a long time for me to finally figure out. Some of the jumps were not so clear to make. Some of the jumps were on moving platforms. What I liked most about the jumping puzzles was that they are mostly hidden away in all the nooks of the maps. You truly have to look around to find them.
2. In all the MMORPGs I have played, I dont think that any other game has ever hit the nail on the head with the Holiday events. Well, i should point out that WOW always did a great job too. But I think Guild Wars 2 Halloween Event offered so much content for everyone. Even level 1 players could take part in all the content they gave us FOR FREE. They even catered to every type of gamer, including a SPVP game, an extremely hard Jumping Puzzle, and a bunch of other cool things that kept me very much entertained. Christmas was also a blast with their Holiday content. You can google it if you don't know what was offered.
3. I love that fact that exploration is such a big part of this game. There are alot of gamers like myself, that really like to explore every little crevice of the map. But GW2 goes that extra mile and awards us with not only titles, but chests of goodies for doing so. I love that aspect of the game and applaud them for going that extra mile.
4. The one thing that they should be proud of is that the game can be played for free after purchase. Heck, they gave us one hell of a game, and continue to keep giving us more and more, without asking for another dime. Of course, it is all of our choices if we choose to purchase things in the Black Lion.
Now for the reasons why I left the game about 2 months ago.
1. I personally do not like running the dungeon instances. I can't put my finger on why I don't like them, It may be the lack of the trinity system. I wish I could give you a better reason, but I just did not care for them, so I chose to do other things in the game.
2. I got to 98% map completion and I hit a wall. I finished all the PVE map completion content, and then proceeded to get the WVW areas, but my server seemed to always have the same damn map. Every time I logged on, I checked to see if it changed, but to no avail. And I was not going to just create an alt on another realm just to complete the map. I wanted to do this with my one and only favorite Engineer guy and that was that. Even after I quit, i logged in every once in a while to check if the map changed, but it was always the same. That truly bothers me. I have read many other peoples negative comments concerning this same issue.
3. The Living Story, in my opinion, started off so horribly slow and boring. Boy did they drag that along in the beginning. They practically added slivers of content, only to have us wait weeks and weeks for yet more slivers. I never even finished the second part of the Living Story.
4. Fractals are just not my cup of tea. I find myself feeling the same way about the fractals as the dungeons. I cant put my finger on it, but I just didn't have much fun running them. Besides, I hate running the same crap over and over.
I really wanted to love this game. Actually, I did for a few months. But in the long haul, I just got bored. I didn't want to though. And I am thankful for having the opportunity to play a game with many, many great features. But as I completed the things that I liked doing, I couldn't find any more fun for myself. I believe that I will still find myself going back to this game from time to time, but unless they come out with an expansion in the near future, or they add a very community-oriented housing system, where the player can build homes piece by piece from the land of Tyria, then It will be a very rare occurrence. Personally, I believe that a real good, sandbox style housing system could really bring many gamers to Tyria. Not only would it appeal to a vast majority of MMORPG gamers, but I am sure ArenaNet could sell a boat load of home furnishings that could truly give us that dream home we always wanted. hehe. It could be a virtual IKEA. As long as they make it a community of homes. That way, we can set up little villages, have a couple of cookouts, and maybe even set up a cock-fighting tournament. But that's just me.
I'm not sure how much I can add to a conversation that is 95% 'This is my opinion and I don't understand how people can have other opinions'.
I enjoy the game. Still enjoying it. Still chatting with people all the time. I have a problem where I simply can't keep UP with all my conversations at times, trying to talk on local, party, guild, map and whispers all at once, while doing content.
If you're ever doing fractals with me and you see me autorun right off a cliff, well. Now you know <.<
I think it's safe to say that some people will enjoy GW2, and some people won't, and some people like the changes, and some people don't.
.... it is almost as if the world is full of people with different tastes. Simply having different tastes doesn't make somebody inferior to you though, it just makes them different.
I can explain why I dislike certain games, but I always manage to realize that it's based off of my opinion and my likes, and that things like how boring a game is are fairly subjective.
I also realize that most ways people explain games are with anecdotal evidence. I can talk about how in GW2 I talk more than any MMO I've ever done except maybe the superhero MMOs, but that doesn't mean GW2 is a game where people talk more than any other game, it just means that's my personal experience and that people who claim GW2 is an inherently unsocial game are just speaking from purely personal experience as well (But making far bolder claims).
I find the game very enjoyable for extremely short amounts of time.
I enjoy finding new events or hearts or just exploring but had found difficulty as it seemed like I needed to constantly revisit areas to redo the content for experience.
In truth I feel it's a very good game but one that doesn't seem to "jive" with how I usually play mmo's.
Having said that I did discover that there were more to the "events" than some players realized as I constantly see many of them get the "bronze, silver, gold" finish and then take off when some of the events had additional parts, conversations, etc.
I suppose the game is just not for everyone. Which is a good thing. Means they are doing something right as it clearly resonates with certain players.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Once again another thread asking for others opinions of a game. These just never end at any level on any game. There is no correct answer at any rate.
OP if you didn't like it to begin with, what could the devs had done different. Everything you complained about is the basics to any mmorpg. If that is the case, you should play a different genre game.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

EQ allowed me to screw my faction by killing my own guards or anyone else's guards. I made a choice and paid for it. This game gives you no fear of anything or even a sense of accomplishment outside soloing champions. I still log into the game only because there is nothing out there for people seeking an EQ1 experience (at least there is an expansive world to explore, GW2's big redeeming quality). I now have less time but would welcome a game that will allow me the freedom and punishments for my choices.
I am still suprised that people only played this game for a week or two though. What the hell else is there to play other than the old school games???? The released "sandbox" games are basically glorified arenas (DF) or hopelessly underfunded indie attempts.
Maxed every class to 80. Got 4 legendaries. Had a blast, until I got banned for making mithril snow flake earrings. Atleast i got my $200 refunded. BTW if you want to go straight to 80 in less than a day, just max all crafting professions.
The core aspects are still the same, so if you didn't like it because of non-trinity gameplay, dynamic events, personal story, etc., then it's still the same. I doubt the game will ever change from these, so there's no point coming back to it if you left for these reasons.
Played since beta. At first, I was happy because it was different. Now, I just can't log in. I do find it boring (and for those of you who don't find it boring...rock on and enjoy yourselves!!). I find it sad that not even a year into the game, I have one of every profession already leveled to 80 (with the exception of Mes...which is over 40).
Shrug.....oh well, and just my opinion. Again, for those of you who are still truly enjoying the game, have at it. Enjoy yourselves!!
I'm the same as a few other posters here. At the beginning I thought this was awesome and Id be playing for a year or more, but as I got into more of the snowy areas, everything just felt so repetitive including the world itself. I didn't feel a sense of progression. This game has to me the best graphics of any MMO I have played and it had a lot of fun moments to get me to end level, but for whatever reason I don't have a desire to go through twice even if I haven't seen all of the starter areas. Beautiful cities though. They felt very alive :-). It's one of the more solid games available. I def would recommend anyone to give it a try.
So I believe we came to the conclusion(Well I came to the conclusion about a few months ago).
That if the game is not for someone it is not improved and never will be especially if said person makes it his job to never like the game.
Then vice versa, dun dunn, dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.
I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.
P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)
Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.
Guild Wars 2 was fun for about 3 days before I saw just how shallow the game really was. No real character progression, linear solo none social gameplay and no real open pvp. Just another generic themepark reskinned.
WvW is still more a basketball game(to see who can score the most points...then pretend it never happened and do it all over again) than a true WAR.Till that changes I will never return.
Ditched my account in less then a month. Found it to be the most pointless game I ever played. I understand the need to reinvent the gear chase most MMO's use. The problem is GW2 didn't reinvent it, they replaced it with nothing.
This left me with this utterly pointless feeling whenever I did anything in the game. And replacing the trinity with 3 dps or 2 dps and a support isn't exactly revolutionary either.
This sums up my feelings. The moment I logged into GW2, I felt like I had already been playing it for years. That is generic in every sense of the word. The 'big' changes they made were really not that big at all and not at all what the MMO industry needed in terms of 'change'.
More content added but it's still the same level it was at. It's more designed for just playing and not worrying about gear or levels or anything thing like that. Good for about a month or 2. I'd go back if the level cap got raised but that's not really what the game is about. It's one of those games where the years come instantly if that makes sense.

In 3 days you can't find the concepts of any game, yet alone an mmorpg that was designed for exploration and casual gameplay. Thousands of people are playing this game right now, it holds many awards, and still has some of the highest scores for game site reviews. If you had a probleme with the game, then it may not be the game that has the problem.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
If you left during the first 1-2 months, the game is much different than when you left.
Whether it is better for you or not, that's for you to decide.
But hey, they have ascended gear if you want to chase that.

Yes this was kind of a loaded title for a thread, but nice to see the fanboys didn't jump all over you. I bought GW2 and played it for about a week then uninstalled. The way the questing worked, new yes but pointless and silly to me. Also just not having the holy trinity was off putting as well. I hope every mmo that comes out does well it's just GW2 wasn't for me.

If you wanted a story to follow, the new content is definitely a lot easier to follow than dynamic event chains you might miss.
I think you might have a bit of fun with the new content since there's more of a line to follow but you can stray from that line if you want to.
