So...you literally can not answer the OP's question since you haven't played since August/September.

And thus, your response is off topic?

    Why...

    ^Agreed

GW2 haters keep posting over and over again for pointless reasons. I have never understood why folks that hate/dislike something so much keep posting in it's forum.

One individual here posted that it is a reskinned themepark, and yet if you look at their history, they support games like FF online and even Ragnarok Online.

I've said since a couple weeks after launch how shallow GW2 is. The world isn't anything special, the zerging isn't fun, the stories being told aren't any good (in most other MMO's that have story questing, I found myself grinding levels to see what happens, and I could have just done without them entirely in GW2). Even PvP isn't very good -- hell, the original was better for it.

Best thing I can say about GW2, and probably the best part of the game, is that the graphics are great. Aside from that, I also enjoyed how characters were created, and how you had choices that change some quests down the road. In the end, though, the creation choices had very little impact compared to what I was expecting going in, much like the dynamic events.

Unfortunately all my gripes are never gonna be fixed, and if they're your gripes, too, OP, then don't expect much.

    So disappointing.

I love all of those that play games because they have a meaning.

I would like to know what meaning do games that don't play your bill actually have.

I, on the other hand, like to play games because they are meaningless.

i also love all of those that say at the same time "the world is empty" and "zerging isn't fun".

Those that only like zerging if there is a schedule to it are also interesting.

    Currently playing: GW2
Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders

I love the way people say: 'Dead, boring world' and/or 'no social interaction' and/or 'Shallow, lack of depth'. Most games are dead and boring, even sandbox games, why? Because all are controlled by coding - they have limited amount that can happen.

As far as the second comment, forced grouping does not make a game social. The trinity does not make a game social. You make the game social. If you don't try, you don't know if a game is social or not.

The third point is the funniest. People bring in their own notions and judge based on those. If you are used to WoW, you expect games to be like WoW. GW2 is deep, but not with forced RAIDS, etc. RAIDS do not make a game deep. The trinity does not make the game deep and in fact makes it simple, since the mechanics of the game are simplified to deal with.

All forced grouping creates is "false friends". I like my friends to play with me because they enjoy my company, and not because I can fill a spot in some raid to get them gear. I've seen so much of that in WoW that it made me sick of it. Note that I don't say all WoW players are like that, I have a couple of real life friends from my time in that game, but the rules breed the greed, and for most, you are not a friend, just canon fodder allowing them to get the "epics" they want.

At least I know that in GW2, people enjoy their time in my guild because of the pleasure to be with each other, and not because they see guild mates as tools to achieve their own selfish goal.

To add, in all honesty forced grouping  is really for those who aren't social themselves, if one is really social in a video game, he/she wouldn't need  forced grouping mechanics, because he/she is actually social.

People have a hard time accepting that in video games that make it where it's up to them to create their own social experience, so they take their frustration out on the forums, fans, and devs.(Same goes for those who can't live without the trinity, or live without getting skillfully better so they need numbers to tell them they are stronger and better).

A+ I believe a lot of commenters have never even played, they just feel the need to post a cancerous comment.

IMHO, there is very little if any hand holding. Generic games with quest hubs are the epidimy of this, GW2 allows for exploring areas without being told what to do next.

Probably one of the worst games, I've played. Just like the late late 90's sitcom "Seinfeld"...this is a game about nothing. A damn way point every 100 feet? Lack of trinity is fine but why replace it with nothing? So now we have lack of anything.

I just don't understand how people enjoy this game, not that its my job too, or that I want to.

First I will start out by saying this game is beautiful has excellent graphics and imo the best action fighting system in an mmo.

    But

    1. The Lore absolutely sucks, they about faced on alot of things in the lore especially the races of the people. True Krytans have basically gone the way of the dinosaur aside from Queen Jenna. Oh unless they are pirates and robbers out in the countryside. Or necromancers that wear skulls on their private parts. So not only is the lore broken but it also teeters on idk racism? (the old Krytans are darkskinned, hance Queen Jenna's look)

    2. Logan Thackeray has to probably be the biggest whiny Ken doll in the history of mmo's.

    3. Not enough weapon skills. I'm sorry but for an action styled mmo you should at least have more weaponskills. Where are two handed axes? Whips? or even new weaponskills with the updates?

    4. Crafting is absolutely worthless and is a money time sink. You are better off questing or finding things in the auction house. When i first started playing I thought it was awesome that you could level through crafting figuring that crafters could just set up shop and craft. No, leveling through crafting is just a faster way to push you through what feels like "pve that is just there to get you to max so you can pvp".  Listen I like pvp like anyone else I am far from a carebear and actually wished the world had open world pvp. Especially with such a great fighting system. I have to say though is that pve feels like an afterthought most of the time as far as relevance.

    4. Did you know there is no Cantha expansion coming? Yep they stated this on their very site, look it up, its on the forums. Why? Because NCsoft told them to make the humans more "universal" (aka more white). So scrach one expansion - tie this in to reason 1 on my list.

    5. The dumbest story reason to pvp ever, culling in pvp zones and in pve zones. Lack of immersion in the world, locations feel like beautiful paintings and nothing more and yes i know they wanted to have this type of feel but sheesh what about some ambient nature sounds? Or music to reflect the envirionment at least?

    6. No plans on guild housing, even though its on the perk list. A horribly small choice list of city clothing. A lack of a true danger feeling from the main storyline and the  dragons. Want to put in a real living story? Put in events that everyone can see on a huge scale. Like when the cities in WoW got invaded by undead. Or when the Rikti randomly would attack parts of the city in COX. Where are the server wide events and i don't mean instanced ones?

Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!

This post is so ridiculous it almost demands a response! (Or, I'm bored and feel like humoring the troll, your pick.)

    3. Whips are in Scarlet Blade. Have fun. Aside from that, there are plenty of skills available, the problem is that too few people bother to learn what they actually do.

    5. You may not be caught up on current events, but culling has been gone for awhile in PvP (WvW) and will soon be gone in PvE. Ambient sounds have always been in the game. If you pay attention, when the sun goes down you can even hear the crickets and other night critters come out. The music is top notch.

Well seems OP dont like how GW2 is played. Don´t force youself to like it, do what you feel like.

that said i find that if you set yourself an objective withing the game you may feel yourself motivated.

    i set myself 2 goals

    1) Twilight

    2) Further in the fractals as i can go.

These are objectives that, for me, are far far away. but motivates me to play everyday.

But again. if you dont like the gameplay itself dont force yourself.

PS: maybe try a different class?

    now: GW2 (11 80s).
    Dark Souls 2.
    future: Mount&Blade 2 BannerLord.
    "Bro, do your even fractal?"
Recommends: Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls, Mount&Blade: Warband, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Not true - you can make a darkskinned Human and if you look around at NPC's you will see them also - this is a NON ISSUE

    2. Logan Thackeray has to probably be the biggest whiny Ken doll in the history of mmo's.

He is whiney but do you understand why (the lore behind it?) Queen Jenna mesmerized Logan - it is in on the the GW novels.

    3. Not enough weapon skills. I'm sorry but for an action styled mmo you should at least have more weaponskills. Where are two handed axes? Whips? or even new weaponskills with the updates?

They have enough and are specialized enough - don't need a million of them. Makes it hard to balance.

    4. Crafting is absolutely worthless and is a money time sink. You are better off questing or finding things in the auction house. You can craft things you cannot find - like Masqurade armor (lvl 80 rare armor).

They did not say that - please find the reference - here is one why it would be difficult but not impossible -

"Cantha was my favorite GW1 region to work on. And I worked on every GW release. I know a lot of the dev team loved it and would love to revisit it. I kinda agree with critickitten about the negative aspect of tight corridors. Most of that came from hitting technological limits while trying to keep the epic quality of the concept art. I think we could do some really amazing things with those themes in our new engine. Certainly nothing is ruled out. I certainly encourage anyone to express your desire for a Cantha region in GW2 in a positive and friendly way. It could be years away, but it’s worth asking for." - Josh Foreman A.Net Envronment Artist

Where does it say what you posted? Not there - another nonsense complaint.

    5. The dumbest story reason to pvp ever, culling in pvp zones and in pve zones. Lack of immersion in the world, locations feel like beautiful paintings and nothing more and yes i know they wanted to have this type of feel but sheesh what about some ambient nature sounds?      No more culling in PvP - PvE is coming so it is a non-issue. That is the point, GW2 is artistic -give me a break you are grasping at idiotic straws.

    6. No plans on guild housing, even though its on the perk list. A horribly small choice list of city clothing. A lack of a true danger feeling from the main storyline and the  dragons. Guild Halls are coming but they have to find the right place to put them. Where they are in GW1, that is where Orr is now. They had that with the Karka - so what you are complaining about happened.

I truly love how the question "has the game improved" is being answered with people who haven't played in 2013.

Ofc there was zerging at the release of the game, what game does not have this when millions of players play at the same time?

This problem was fixed and the zerging was stabilized after a few weeks after the launch.

If GW2 is boring or ever was? no GW2 was never boring and it's not boring now either, i enjoy GW2 even more now than i did at launch. Why? because it was too much to grasp at launch, alot of (new)  and different mechanics than in other mmorpgs.

GW2 is original and ArenaNet set a standard for mmorpgs. They broke the ice.

In my opinion - the game is little different than at launch so I would say it has not improved. The most notable changes I can recall (I play daily and have 3 80s and several other toons and am about to create my first legendary):

    1. Anet has nerfed loot drop rates several times - mainly in world drops but also in Fractals of the Mists, certain dungeons, and world bosses. To be fair - world boss chests were updated to always contain at least a rare, and initially this was on a per-character-per-day basis, but anet then nerfed that to be per-account-per-day because the market was being flooded by rares and ectos. This impacts all players with alts and there was quite an uproar over the change.

    2. Anet has added only minimal new content. Several temporary quests/stories/dungeons have been added over the months but these are removed as soon as the special event is complete. The one new map added - Southson Cove - was done poorly with almost no real content associated with it (in terms of DEs or quests) and aside from tier-6 mats there is little reason to go there.

    3. Materials needed to make fancy weapons (those with interesting "skins") and legendaries are harder and harder to come by due to anti-farming code and diminishing returns code that Anet put in game allegedly to combat bots. I believe that was only one of the intents - Anet actively wants to discourage farming. The result is players often give up on building these items OR they use real life $ at the Gem Store to convert to gold to buy what they need.

    4. Ascended gear was added with better stats than exotics. This caused quite an uproar as many claim it violated Anet's 'no gear progression' mantra. Thus far only rings and amulets are available. The extra stats are only really needed in high level Fractal of the Mists runs so its really not that big a deal at this point.

Once you have at least 1 level 80 the game becomes very repetitive and with minimal new content things can get stale. The only reason I keep playing as much as I do is to get my legendary. After that happens - I honestly don't know how many hrs a week I will want to play as I have little to aim for. The grind to get a single legendary has been painful - I can't see ever doing it a 2nd time, so...

They added Southsun, which is a high end farming area really and it is a decent size. The anti-farming code was in GW1 also - you just have to be INTELLIGENT about it - don't go after the same mob repeatedly, etc. If you do that, you deserve to be hit by the anti-farming code.

The drops haven't really been nerfed - I always get a gold when dealing with Champions (I guess that is a nerf).

I have 3 level 80's and I am not finding  anything repetitive but maybe that is due to the fact I have a Guardian, a Ranger, and a Mesmer - all play styles are different. If you think all are the same then you really don't understand the professions.

Ha! I'm glad they don't play GW2. If they are sensless enough not to grasp or understand the OPs question, I would rather they play something else.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

Additional content has been added to the game, but if you didn't like the portion of the world you did experience, I'd doubt you'd like any of the newer additions.

Perhaps the game simply isn't your cup of tea. Nothing wrong with that, but no one else can really tell you how you will react to a game either.

Whose cup of tea was it then? It looks like solely ultra casual game. I played the game like a casual gamer and I was bored... it lacked any depth whatsoever...

Sorry for the late response, but I don't forum watch as much as I used to.

It's the cup of tea to the people playing the game. I personally play for WvW. I enjoy the three sided combat and the unpredictability it brings. Opportunities for a smaller force to take advantage of two larger forces being distracted by the heat of battle to claim a tower, keep, etc. There are others in my guild who do the world boss rotation every night, and those who run fractals and/or dungeons constantly, and those who love to explore the world and get 100% map completion on multiple characters. We have a wide variety of gamers within the confines of my guild. Additionally, the WvW community on my server is a good bunch. We celebrate our victories, laugh off our failures, and have a good spirit of cooperation. Simply put, I enjoy the game and many others do as well.

From the "feeling" of your post, I would imagine you're not normally a casual gamer. If you feel the need to change your gaming style to attempt to enjoy a game, then that game is probably not for you. I tried to get into LotRO when it first came out, and again when it went freemium. Both times I couldn't stand the combat. I didn't try to force myself to like it, I just accepted that the game wasn't for me, and moved on.

i gave it a shot and i couldnt play it past lvl 17 on my ranger..

we both played GW1 for many many years (i played it since the very first BWE where the gw1 engine was not the current one)

GW2 is sooo boring i cant even put into words. i had absolutely zero motivation to go on.

"PvE was just running around following the zerg tagging mobs to get kills… killing poor mobs that NEVER had a chance, and with so many players around I’ve never felt so isolated in an mmo, there is basically no interaction b/w players outside of dungeons. Really what’s the point of having so many people around in GW2 other than lagging up my game?"

this is exactly what was going on. nothing to add here.

game felt DEAD because there was no communication whatsoever. u do a "event" with ppl and then u part ways without a word.

I have always had communication in game during events - here comes the punch line - must be you -  :-)

You haven't played in a while have you? it has changed a long time ago from that - like 2-3 months after the game was released. But, people keep spouting out about things they have no clue about.

All games are dead GEEZ, the only living world is the RL one.

idd and i would like to add to this he played gw1 for years and then didnt make it to past level 17 on gw2 thats an achievement by itself tho.
