Pretty much like the title says, I'm curious as to how many people picked up an MMO and actually played it for over a year before going back to an old one or swapping to a new one.
I for one can't remember playing anything for more than a few months at a time before I was on to something else.
(Edit: and I jacked up the pole and didn't add a zero. hah)

guild wars 1 and world of tanks....... yes i said world of tanks even though its instanced based hide and seek shooter. guild wars 1 for almost 3 years straight and world of tanks for over 2 years since i was in the closed beta.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

Oderint, dum metuant.
SWG and Darkfall..
EQ2 came close as well as AOC..
More than a year : EQ - GW1 - WoW - EvE
6 months or less : RIFT - WAR - TERA - GW2 - SWTOR
Guild Wars 1 & WoW, Rift (was close to a year)
now GW2 will be my 3rd MMO i´ll play for over a year.
As of right now, 2: FFXI and WoW. FFXI was my first, and I played it for a little over a year after launch. I overlapped that with WoW for a short while after WoW released, but I eventually made the full transition and never looked back. I played that for...a little over 5 years I guess (January 2005-Aprilish 2010, shortly after the Lich King encounter was released).
I certainly didn't play for 5 and a half years straight though, which raises a question of clarification about your poll. Are you asking if we've played non-stop for a full year (for example, logging in at least a few times a week every single week for 52 weeks), or are you asking if we've just generally belonged to a particular MMO for a time span that exceeds 1 year regardless of how frequently we've played? In my time with WoW, I took, I believe, 3 separate 5-6 month breaks for various reasons.
I'm also at 8 months with GW2 now, and I foresee myself playing that long into the future. I did spend about 2 months away from it, however, which returns me to my above question.
WoW, Age of Conan, and Fallen Earth
And WAR, which I was glued to at release for well over a year- loved it in spite of its then flaws, it still had the population to keep it entertaining across all tiers for the majority of that time

WOW
I played WoW for multiple years. That was pretty much it. I think that was more than enough. I've been playing TSW off and on for awhile now. That game might stretch out into a year's time.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
Coh, war, wow & planetside for over a year
Over a year in gw1 too, but played that as a side game
Shortest would be swtor - less than a month
I used to play MMO's for years and years, but latley it seems I have game ADD and burn through them in months.
EQ - 6 years, WOW - 5 years, AION - year, RIFT - Year
WoW, LOTRO and TSW. I expect to play Rift for more than a year as well.
My record is "more than ten". Second place, six or so (two installments). Fourth, three or so.
GW1...every time a new expansion released, picked it back up for a bit, but probably never as much as a year contiguously.
The last of these was several years ago. If you plot the curve, time-to-quit has been constantly decreasing, for as long as MMOs have existed.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
Nonstop: WoW (vanilla through BC)
Bursts with long breaks: GW1, Shaiya
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein
