Sorry ESO is a RVR game not a pure story game. As long as they do that part right the game will be fine.
Also last i checked SWTOR is doing fine compared to most get over it.
Last time i checked TESO is more PVE than AvA, perhaps you need to do your research before making claims about a game you obviously don't know anything about.
Three whole faction areas to PVE and on top of that Cyrodiil is also PVE/PVP
Adventure zones= PVE
Story mode that is also PVE
You really think that this game is a RVR game lol.
DarkFall is a PVP game
Age Of Wushu is a PVP game
Mortal Online is a PVP game.
ArcheAge has more PVP than TESO.
Please go and do your research before telling others to get over it lol.
The more i read about this game the less i want to actually play it simply because the game reeks of a lot things which are miles apart from what an Elder Scrolls game should be in my opinion.
Heavy focus on PvP, locked factions (you will apparently be able to quest in other faction regions but will not see said faction players on screen....who the hell thought that was a good idea to begin with?) and similar things just don't cut it for the majority of ES series fans which is a shame indeed, they could have hit the jackpot with this IP in a MMO surrounding.
I'm a hardcore pvper and that's what I want, however I think they are messing up as they are trying to cater to pvpers and pvers on the same server. So neither will be happy. Make two shards, a hardcore full owpvp server where the npcs can attack you based on your actions, then another one that caters to the pvers. Mixing the two on one server could be a major problem with this game.

During a recent E3 preview event, we managed to spend tons of times in and around the Elder Scrolls Online location of Daggerfall, a place familiar to fans of the series. Find out what we discovered during our hands on time before heading to the comments to continue the discussion.
Daggerfall is socially enabled and is designed to be a gathering spot for players. There are crafting locations, dungeons, side quests and exploration to be had within the city walls itself, not to mention outside. Exploration is key. One interesting tidbit we were told is that there are Skyrim-like achievements for finding and reading all the books in a given location and much more. It’s definitely worth the taking the time to sniff around if that’s your thing.
I for one love that the game seems to be a lot more interactive compared to other recently released MMOs and I like the fact that they aren't heavily going with cutscenes. I also like that the character customization seems to be very detailed from what I read. I also like the fact that the difficulty seems a little harder and that quests feel like quests. All good signs to me.

I agree. The positives in the article all sound great.
What bothers me is they sent someone who isn't an Elder Scrolls fan to preview this, when the people who are mostly worried about the game are Elder Scrolls fans.
My favourite is "skyrim doesn't have pvp so TESO shouldn't"
Of course it doesn't IT'S A SINGLE PLAYER GAME [mod edit]
Using the same logic, TESO should also not have group dungeons, chat channels, auction houses, player guilds and raids because those aren't in skyrim either BECAUSE IT'S A SINGLE PLAYER GAME.

Difficulty harder than what mmo?
Quest feel like quests compared to what mmo?
A lot more interactive compared to what mmo?
But it still has cut scenes lol.
You do know that GW2 and SWTOR are not the only mmo's released over the last two years, right?
If these are the things that make you put your cash on the table then the mmo community have no hope.
I not putting the game down but these things are hardly claims to fame
It's the same dribble we heard about swtor, these very same people gave swtor glowing reviews, right?
I'll never understand how people say TES games are heavy PvP games...last time I checked in Skyrim there was ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO, zero incase you didn't catch it, PvP...So if TES games are supposed to be PvP heavy, then Skyrim wasn't a TES game either...In fact, I personally think of all the TES games as PvE games. The sooner people figure that out, the better off we'll all be.
I'm still on the fence, as with any game I haven't played myself, but I look forward to trying it out and making my own opinion. There's only one opinion that matters to me, and that's mine
Maybe because Skyrim is a... wait for it... SINGLE PLAYER GAME.
I'm not much of a lore fanatic but ESO is a prime world for a major PvP MMO since the races/factions are always at odds with one another it seems like in the books you pick up throughout the game.
I can see how the factions and putting people on different factions lends itself to a PvP MMO, but no TES game has ever been about PvP ever. So to say, this game has to have the best PvP ever or it's fail is simply not true.
The Elder Scrolls: Arena - No PvP
Daggerfall - No PvP
Morrowind - No PvP
Oblivion - No PvP
Skyrim - No PvP
Elder Scrolls Online - Has to have the best PvP or it's epic fail...
That makes no sense lol.
That's because no elder scrolls game has been online before, so get over it!!! The game can't be the same as the single player games because in a single player game you play on your own. imagine if skyrim was online the game would be a complete mess. Every npc would have buckets on their heads.
The more i read about this game the less i want to actually play it simply because the game reeks of a lot things which are miles apart from what an Elder Scrolls game should be in my opinion.
That's because it's not an ES game, it's an ES MMO.
You people will complain about anything...
Well this is massively E3 preview.
"Here's the part that intrigued me: At no point did the gameplay experience resemble an MMO"
-To quote massively: "It in no shape or form resembles an MMO". Then what the waffle does it resemble? A racing game lol? I have a feeling we'll get TES lite.
Not being able to see the other factions is a monster FAIL for me. That is a ridiculous point of game design that definitely should e reconsidered! Big fa of Oblivion and Skyrim here, but thus far ESO is looking more tedious than exciting. I do like the graphical look though, and some of the game systems sound fun.
Actually you hit bullseye with your description. While I cannot be 100% sure about the overall feel while I watched leaked video I had exactly same sense. Daggerfall. Not any other game of series, I played them all although finished only 'Arena' and 'Daggerfall'. Definitely. I hope they keep it.
"Even with only an hour of Skyrim under my belt, the city of Daggerfall felt familiar."
What? Skyrim and Daggerfall are entirely different regions of Tamriel and Daggerfall doesn't even feature in Skyrim...
Lame comment, because this is what she wrote :
"The looks and colors of Daggerfall and the way that characters and NPCs look is very much Elder Scrolls. There is no bright color palette here except in places where it fits in one sense or another. Lots of browns, blacks, tans and darker, muted colors abound and it’s all fitting somehow. Even with only an hour of Skyrim under my belt, the city of Daggerfall felt familiar."
It is obvious that she is writing about how the gameworld has a similar style as Skyrim. Nowhere is she claiming that the city Daggerfall is in Skyrim.
An MMO that instances, phases, and scripts everything to make you feel heroic? That worked SO WELL for SWTOR!
Except I would argue that it worked just fine for those that were clear that they were getting a bioware game. SWToR's issues stem from other reasons.
Not to say that I am in full support of ESO. I'm not.
I think they blundered and I think they are going to pay for it.
The SWTOR issue stems from the same thing that killed TSW. Linear instanced storyline based games trying to emulate singleplayer games, DO NOT MAKE GOOD MMOS.
I would say that the storyline was enjoyable for those who were on board with the story (aka - a bioware experience) The issue is not the inclusion of story. The issue was the lack of "mmo features" and lack of any sort of end game (since it is a themepark).
Take away the bioware story and there really wasn't much there.
Playing the game like a singleplayer game was bearable. Probably the only bearable way to play it. Sadly, it was priced, with a monthly fee, and marketed as an MMO. THat and the singleplayer experience was sub par for numerous reasons. One of Bioware's worst. And after you do anything in the story, it makes no impact on the world, because its all instanced. It counts for nothing.
That would imply the only redeeming quality in the game would be story based questing. Considering their focus on end-game PVP. I don't see it.
Considering they're making tons of mistakes with end game PvP design, like not having individual servers, and allowing you to go to other realms.. I don't have faith it'll be a redeeming quality.
And the quests in SWTOR were awful compared to singleplayer game quests.

Why in the name of shit would you have someone who doesn't like the Elder Scrolls preview an Elder Scrolls MMO?
This is like sending someone who hates cars to a car show and then having them write an article about it.

I thought this quote was also very telling
"Questing comes easily as NPCs toting optional quests have a very obvious yellow aura surrounding them"

SWTOR + WAR = ESO??

So far I see nothing that stands out yet. TES lore or not, if they use the same old MMO themeparky mold again, I highly doubt it will be succesful.

No, WAR actually had servers so its PvP was actually good.
I salute you, Suzie. Anyone who dearly loves The Elder Scrolls, does not dearly love Skyrim. They dearly love Morrowind.
"Another TOR"
