When do you think EQN gets released?

I am only a recent convert to the title but haven't heard too much on when the expected announcement date is.  Other then it's been in Development for some time.

 

Is this game expected in a few years for now? or is a later 2013, early 2014 a possibility.

Reveal on August 2nd. (beta sign ups start) Open beta and server stress tests begin shortly after. (beginning of September)

Then a release sometime in the second half of October.

IDK they say they are unfolding the game come August,letting us in on the secrets,that sounds real close to me,like possibly aimed for the end of the year,Christmas time.However going by time lines,it should not be ready for at least another 2 years.So something funky is going on here,either a real shallow rushed project is about to be released within a year or they are releasing information way too early which makes me wonder why all the secrecy so far if letting the information out early anyhow?

SO many things inside SOE baffle me,so trying to make sense of things that don't make sense,give me a headache.

Bottom line is 2+ years but the August release of information says sooner,like much sooner.

Q1 2014. I have a feeling it'll either be this straight up, or they'll delay it from the date they give on August 2nd somewhere that is somewhere around Christmas time.

The only problem I have is with this assessment is the inclusion of the Storybricks wasn't until recent.  Seeing as the entire NPC structure is using, this system seems impossible to code and implement into an already existing framework unless it was designed with that toolset in mind from the ground up.  But then again I am probably wrong.

SOE says before the end of this year, but considering they have put absolutely no concrete information or so much as a teaser screenshot, I'm not sure I trust that.  Unless they really think they have such a huge perfected monster of an MMO where they would not need to do any kind of marketing until a few months before release.  Which I doubt it.

I think it's closer to release than most would think. SOE has been working on this for a couple of years now. They're about to make a major announcement in August. I too think it will be this year. Closed beta in September (if not now), and open beta in October. Bug fixes in November December, release in late December.

Story Bricks was partnered with SOE since at least the current iteration of EQN. They just recently announced the partnership because they needed to fill a few job positions. SOE got a bit miffed at them for Saying a bit too much lol.

On the prediction side. I say Announcement Aug 2nd, Followed by beta sign ups possibly that same weekend or soon after. Closed Beta by October, and for the Pièce de résistance: The original Everquest Launched March 16 1999. For maximum shock and awe value; launch date March 16 2014 on the 15th anniversary of the game that started it all!

It's playable right now.  Dave said they could revealed it to the public at E3 but they wanted SOE fans to be the first to see it in the public.

i seem to remember smed saying that once aug SOElive comes around we wont have long to wait til we get our mitts on the game.

 

if this means sept for beta, and beta lasts 4 months, then jan 14?  that is my guess anywho.

Something people have to remember.  They do not need to have a finished product.  What I mean is they could very well release it in open beta and continue to develop content while the game is in open beta.   It's a f2p game as long as there are no character wipes from open beta to release.

If they release anything sooner it'll be half-assed and won't last long(subscriptions), SOE needs to take it's time and release a FINISHED OPTIMIZED product for the first time in awhile and then move immediately into content production in order to keep up with the demands of today's playerbase.

There is NO subscription.  F2P.

 

Why comment if you have no clue about the game ?

They have already stated keeping up with content and players is impossible and a true sandbox should have player created /driven content.

I too agree that itll come out this year, November/December. They could have shown it at E3 but wanted to save that for the real fans of SOE/Everquest going to SOE Live. Plus, it makes August 2nd THEIR day, not sharing it with a bunch of people at E3.

 

Blackboxed is much different than a game that isnt playable.

 

BlackBox is like when you're on Survivor (tv show) that films during the summer and one season airs in fall, the next airs in spring (They record two seasons every summer) You can't tell people you were on the show until the week before it airs when theyre doing the cast-reveal. Just because it isnt official and out there doesnt mean you didnt do it. That's how I view a Blackboxed game.

 

My guess is that they are going to surprise people at SOE Live and give every attendee closed beta access. I think beta will start a week after SOE Live. August September October November? That's enough beta testing for a F2P MMORPG to release in December.

 

And as pointed out, Smedley says we'll get our hands on the game this year "And I don't mean a beta" We arent just going to get a cinematic at SOE Live and that's it.. We're going to get bombarded with information/mechanics/gameplay/etc on August 2nd.

Based on time in developments and so forth my guess would be 2014-early 2015.  However, I think there is a SLIGHT chance that part of the huge reveal that is going to blow us away is that the game is actually ready to launch this year.
