Teleporting around is a good way to burn through cash.
For sprinting, you could just use some self control and not use it every time it's up, use it every 5 minutes or something. But once people get their mounts it's a moot point.
It's a little silly to want to dictate how others want to play the game.
Honestly, I don't care how others play the game. When they have burned through all they find interest in in this game as fast as they can, they will just be at the next big release, but I'll probably still be in FFXIV, because I'm not a part of the content locust swarm.
I like the way sprint is now... It is nice to have but you can't use it all the time... it has draw backs... When you sprint it uses 100% of whatever TP you have left... Based off how much TP you have is how long the duration is. So say you are on a boss fight... he does an aoe but you don't have time to normally run out of range of it... You have the option to blow whatever tp you have left to up your chances of avoiding it but at the cost of not being able to use very many skill after the fact. I'm assuming the OP only played casters where he never used TP for anything other than sprint... So sprinting into a battle and starting a fight with 0 tp was not an issue. But tp regens much slower while in combat so while you are fighting you can't use sprint near as often or well you can use it as often but the duration is much shorter. I really like the fact that some skills have consequences and you need to weigh the pros and cons.
In cities why not give us sprint for free since you pretty much get it anyway. Why make me click the extra times. When you leave the city then make you use the sprint ability.
Yeah, that's right. Sprinting should be nerfed. The cooldown on sprint is so low you can sprint just a few seconds after the current sprint ends. As it was in phase 4, it was too convenient to not be sprinting in the game (all the time), and it seems to almost completely invalidate your standard running.
I sprinted, a lot. It got things done faster, but I felt like I was racing to the next objective like a marathon runner (one on performance enhancing drugs). I'd much prefer it to not be something that's overly convenient, and largely mechanic altering.

Fight the good fight, precious.
I will keep my sprint ability, thanks. feel free to walk everywhere, though. Don't let me cramp your style.

Umm, this thread seems really silly. I read a few pages and people are delving into some minutiae.
When I first noticed the sprint skill, my first thought was - jeez, that's a convenient way of getting me from place A to B because I have no mount.
For up to level 20, that's really all it's used for. To move you from place to place when you don't have a mount or a chocobo isn't particularly close. Combat applications seem rather thin. I was a mage and I had ZERO problem moving around mob AoE. Yes, it interrupted me from time to time but there was tons of time to get out of the way. I see no reason why melee would suddenly have more problems than me when I'm not using sprint anyway.
Fast forward to higher content, sure - that could change. However, NONE of you know what's coming in ARR. You don't know how things are balanced. You don't know how the game will play. It's a bunch of pie in the sky.
So chill, until we get more experience. No point freaking out about this now.
