    so so so wrong!!!

most people just can't afford more than one sub game, and i am sorry - with FF14 ARR and Wildstar - they are all competing on my pocket (and yours actually). i do not see how i will play either one of those in the 1st few months of their release (both will have sub+box+CS).

i guess i will stay with FF14 ARR - hopefully its as good as everyone are saying (beta was fun but who knows).

i didn't want to go there but i guess they beat me - i will just have to w8 till they become F2P - as it seems both companies (wildstar and TESO) are thinking on becoming F2P down the road.

    Just my 2 cents...

I think Bethesda is seriously over betting on the millions of beta sign ups. Its one thing to want to try a game for free. Its another entirely to want to not only pay money to buy the game, but also pay a monthly subscription, AND have them trying to get even more money via a cash shop. Don't get me wrong, Cash shops are well and good and have their place in F2P & B2P games. But when I pay for a game and its monthly subscription, I want to know I am paying for everything the game has to offer. If they want the cash shop they should make it so those who pay the full monthly price get whatever goods and services are included in it for free, and make a lower cost subscription price for those who would rather pick and choose. To me this whole thing feels like a money grab. Bethesda sees millions sign up for their beta, and assumes that will translate into subscribers. Drooling and wiggling fingers over all our wallets ensue. Which is sad as I was looking forward to this game for quite some time. I love The Elder Scrolls series, but I will wait for this one until it inevitably has to go for a free or buy to play model.

I always supported and was pro TESO till now, sub and cash shop won't flow for me. Even it's fluffy items and name change and whatever I don't care I will refuse to play any mmorpg with cash shop period. In few hours I will be playing FFXV ARR and hopefully they will not introduce a cash shop or else!

I don't get you people that have no problem with cash shop. Have you began playing MMOs a year ago? That is the only explanation I can think of why you would fool your self into believing a cash shop that sells minor services is not a slippery slope into something worse. Every game time and again has proven a small cash shop turns into a money sink f2p.

I am very upset at this move and had higher hopes for this game when I heard they going with sub. Now I can see they are gearing for f2p in the future.

Regarding console players renting to play. These people are use to playing a single player game with content 1/8 of what an MMO offers with massive amounts of players. If these console players want to experience what PC players experience then they need to pay to play. Get off the console high horse and join the rest of the gaming community or don't, and play single player games on the console that you have to buy every 2 weeks to experience something new.

i can get everything in SKyrim either by crafting, loot, or npc merchants. If i have to pay real money to get extra stuff in ESO on top of a subscription then good luck, im staying away.

Account services are totally fine but not the "fun" stuff they seem to want to thrown in as an item store. IF i pay the subscription i expect to have all those "fun" items in game already covered by the price of the box and the subscription.

They want to have an item shop for real money? Fine, work on that, but dont add it to the game until it goes F2P.

Not quite sure why some are getting their panties in a bunch.

Paid character services is pretty standard now.

Cash shop with vanity items is in almost every major MMO, I can only think of FF11 and FF14 that do not have them.

It doesnt matter if the MMO has a subscription fee or not this is the new normal for MMOs. If you are against paid services or paid vanity items then play an indie MMO or something because these things will not be going away.

Very sorry to see a cash shop, that killed it, the suits have to show more profit every quarter which means, once again,  invented huge grind, too few cosmetics, and extreme luck needed to get anything without the store.

"but you can get anything needed w/o the store"  if you never sleep and don't care if you have fun or not.

So ,pay 12$ per month to get access to character fun items ? which then costs extra ?

    burn in hell :D

I agree 100%,we will just have to suck it up but next year a lot of mmo games are

releasing and elders scrolls and wildstar will be free to play after the shareholders

have made their billions.shroud of the avatar has no sub.and its almost like eso just more realistic roleplaying.

beta releasing end of the year and game end of next year.

  • anwaranwar Member UncommonPosts: 108

I don't mind a modest sub and a realistic box price (no super boxes for outrageous prices for pay to win junk), I just hate having a shop.  The devs start programming to make you use the shop and forget about just plain making a game that is epic fun.

To me the perfect model would be ONE box (no collector's ed) for $50 and $10 a month and $25 expansions yearly or even every 6 months if they can do a REAL expansion that quickly.

It's not the money as much as making money totally unimportant and not a part of the game.

...Is it opposite day?  The last I checked the majority of the Elder Scroll fanbase was on PC, and many of them aren't exactly fond of "renting" their games after buying it.  Add to that there is no precedence of this happening for a Elder Scrolls game, and that the console crowd is more acclimated to DLC or microtransactions, and this is just a recipe for disaster.

They push it back to make it more "Elders Scrolls" and to attract that community in saying they should now consider it the next iteration of the series... Yet they commit to a payment model only a MMO audience is used to (with most either outright rejecting it or saying it has to be worth it and beat out their current choice).  Alienating your franchise's fanbase is incompetent unless there is a hidden agenda to milk the starting crowed for all their worth before adopting B2P or F2P once this game is finally released on the Next Generation Consoles (if they are to be released at different times).

Wildstar I could understand (though still think they'll change after a year if their legalized gold selling falls apart), and FFXIV is a given considering they're self publishing and a bit old school in traditions... But this just misses the boat completely on what Elder Scrolls has been to the majority of it's fans.  What audience are they aiming for?

Had a glaring typo there. People play Elder Scrolls on Pc, some on console, but the HUGE majority is on PC my friend.

Tripple dipping mmo, in a time where free to play mmo's attract the casual flock.
Not to mention all the block busters comming out in the same time frame.
This wont even sell 1 million boxes and goes free to play within 3 months.
Dont be a fool and be that guy that spend top euro's / dollars to see this mmo flop to the bottem.

i be there at the front row when they go down with this greedy approach /popcorn
    seriously what a scam.

Nope, sales figures clearly show that Skyrim and Oblivion sold the most copies on XBOX 360... my friend. PC was the lowest selling platform for the games, around 15% of total sales. Read something before trying to put others down with your made up facts.

There are no raids, after all – "That's not Elder Scrolls," says Game Director Matt Firor

but there are four-man dungeons and three-faction open PvP with sieges in the beleaguered province of Cyrodiil.

If I play a Game that I buy with sub fee I expect server transfer, change char name and stuff like this to be free. That it dosen't get out of hand they can offer this service once a month or every second month, but it got to be for free. This is the service I pay for with the sub. Good com management, stable server, hunting cheaters and goldfarmers down and ofcorse server transfer and name changes. There is NO need for a "cash shop" at all!

I like the fact it is p2p and I don't care about the vanity store, the game will have been in devlopment for almost 7 years by the time it launches, you don't give away a project of tha size and scope, if you really follow all the features this game is going to have at launch, then the only conclusion you could have come up with was p2p.

Time will be judge of how well ESO does in the long term, I hope well, I been looking for an online game to sink into for years, and I hope ESO is that game, if not oh well, there is always the next one to try out won't be the first bantha poodoo I bought..LOL
