    Thank you all for reading!

So in others words, your thread was nothing more than a bash thread against FF:ARR because, as your edit has plainly surmised, your intent with this thread was never really about finding anyone to encourage you to try the game, was it?  You gave the game a halfassed run through, took to the forums and wrote a long negative dissertation without having given it a real chance, and after everyone takes up your challege to encourage you to try the game, your final response is "Thanks, but my real intent was indeed to bash the game.  I never did intend on playing it."

Also...How does my edit (read:UPDATE) give such an impression? I pretty much laid out my reasoning. You can disagree with them but they were MY choices. Would you have reacted in a positive tone (instead of such an ugly and cynical tone) if I decided the other way around? Well if so, I never intended to disappoint anyone. If you really don't care how I decide then why are you making such a stance here on this thread.

...or are you still fuming at me and so you want to resort to this trolling. Who's being bias now. Who's being mean now.

I had a rough day so, frankly, this will be the last I reply to you if you continue in such hostile tones. People did help me here. I thank them for that. Save a few that posted on this thread, I found it all very therapeutic.

Edit: Nevermind. I just requested a lock for this thread. It served its purpose. Again, thank you to those who helped me!

I agree that invisible walls in FFXIV are a bit disappointing. Breaks immersion for explorers, but I guess is a trade off. For most  people is easily forgivable for such a gorgeous world with so many details.

Exploration is nice but I think what will keep people playing is end game. New games wont be able to satisfy explorers for long. The content is limited at release.

What is important is to have a solid base, and strong community and systems, and the game will mature, evolve and expand with updates and expansions. I think this is the case of FFXIV.

I hope TESO will satisfy your needs. I I can't see EQNext release before 2015 so good luck with that.

    Oh and stop buying CE.....

I can't help it! Those high quality PVC statuettes call out to me and I just got to have them! <3 It's a serious problem. D:

Yes...Hearthstone and possibility to beta invites along with WoW will have to fill my gaming time for now....Still have to beat Skyrim too but darn do those CTDs unmotivate me VERY quickly.

    Also keeping an eye on:

WildStar: But feel a bit burnt from stylized (what haters call 'cartoony') graphics and in the mood to get back into gritty (ex. Shadowbane, DAoC [to an extent] and soon TESO)..

ArchAge: Really keeping a close eye on this one.

Hearthstone definitely a must have. I am hoping for a soon open beta/release on this one

Wildstar, I am not very convinced about it.. Ill keep an eye later on though

Archeage, I am tired already waiting on this one. l have been waiting for like 2 years. And recent news are not very good for Archeage in Korea. Looks like Trion is in trouble with this one.

Lucrecia, I just called it as I saw it.  I'm pretty certain I was spot on with my response.  I sincerely believe that anyone looking at your OP and then your final reply would have a hard time disagreeing with me.  I mean, read that final paragraph that I quoted from your OP in which you, matter of factly, invited posters to dismantle your claims in which you cast such a dim light on FF:ARR, and encouraged them to convince you into trying the game, and when they did, your response was basically ... "Thanks for all of your input ... but I wasn't intending on buying or playing the game anyway."

There was nothing ugly or cynical about my tone in that thread, or at least it wasn't intended to be.  This is just a classic case of "the truth hurts."  Listen, you don't have to justify your reasons for not playing this game to anyone.  Least of all not me.  I'm fine with that, I really am.  I am just pointing out my overall observations as they pertain to your thread, seeing as though I was an early contributor to it.  Don't hate me for my response.  FWIW,  you are still one of my favorite posters ... even without live streaming videos.

Thank you for a more respectful observation.  They are your observations but seeing as you can only read so much into my intentions via a forum they'll have to be seen as just that: your observations. I wish I could assure you how wrong they were.

Yes: I did ask people to dismantle my claims. A few had eased me on some of them throughout this lengthy thread. However, it simply was not enough to sway me. I will keep an eye out on this game. If I hear about them opening up this unreachable spaces and I am not already neck deep in one of the upcoming titles then I will give this another look. :)

This was never about hate for one game or love for another but about laying out what I find important in a game that I have a TON of experience in and what I found lacking in the one I didn't and asking people to discuss it with me.

    Oh?

It's not even unique in that respect, really. There have been other games that allowed you to level every class. Hell, FFXI is one of them.

To name a more recent one, The Secret World has a system that, in my opinion, simply dwarfs ARR's, in versatility and customization. It's too much to even attempt to explain here (and I'm not very good at explaining complex things lol).

Here's a page I found that explains it  well. I believe it's copied from an article Martin Bruusgard (Lead Designer of the game during its development) posted. The video showing the Ability Wheel looks like it's from an older, still in-development version. It looks a bit different now, same basic layout, but things are arranged differently.

It's essentially a very advanced (and in my opinion, far superior) version of ARR's Armoury system that provides a lot more flexibility and a lot more room to experiment and find builds that suit your playstyle, with the ability to switch between them at will.

JUST to be truthfully honest here...Ok..I am playing TSW now as of tonight. Just did an hour and a half of Gilded Gold event and as much as I LOVE the golden headset and my swanky new tux which looks mighty fine on my lady Angela ...the performance...by the nine!..the performance during these open world boss fights are enough to make me want to punch a puppy in the face!

FFARR performance at ultra with litterally a sea of faces: Always 60 FPS <3

TSW performance with 20-30 all fighting these golden gargantuas: NO JOY! D:  Same thing happened during every single other massive world event they had too (the aztec event with that darn bird and the anniversary event). Funcom really needs to do something about this. I took all my graphics to low and then some (advanced settings: all 0). Did not help..not rally.

Anyways...I'm raging a bit cause I just logged form TSW and the rage is fresh.
