So what Mr. Fuller is suggesting is gut WoW and alienate the players who are currently playing in a bid to maybe bring back a few of the players they have lost? Do I smell NGE?

    Exactly.

Shh, you've seen through our not so clever plan to try and bring down WOW so creativity can once again return to the genre.

Back to the drawing board it seems.

Worst list for expansion I've ever seen Mr Fuller. Some good ideas in the comments though.

Definitely revamp the old models and new textures, open world, revamped pvp with some meaning (territory control etc), bring back old talent system, challening dungeons that need teamwork as opposed to just gear and zerging.

Though even with all those things I would never return. My hopes for what WoW would become have long since been destroyed.

Amazing, I find all 5 suggestions to be completely ridiculous.

MMORPGs don't belong on consoles.  Consoles ruin PC games/gaming.

Tab target is a staple of the genre.  Action style is another style, not a better style.  Why would they change their core game all of a sudden?  Makes zero sense.

Gear grind is also a staple of MMORPGs.  Without it, there is no reason to play...except...

You want more lame PvP?  Meh.  MMORPG PvP is a joke all around.  If you want real competition you should be playing other gaming genres that actually has it.  MMORPGs are PvE at the core and no class-based, gear-based, and highly variable game like an MMORPG will ever have any semblance of balance for PvP - and as such, will never be truly competitive.

One thing bliz always does in every expac is to mangle their talent system.  If they were to undo the lameness and ultra dumbing down introduced in Panda Express and return to something that actually involved a marginal degree of thinking and choice, I might consider playing WoW again.  Probably not.  But it'd be a maybe instead of a definite no way.

Premium MMORPGs do not feature built-in cheating via cash for gold pay 2 win. PLAY to win or don't play.

How do you ruin something that has always been the bottom barrel MMO of the genre?

They will never get rid of tab targetting. You don't drastically change your combat system 10 years into an MMO. While some might like that change, I'm sure it would piss off far more veteran players.

Bring back? WoW never had it. It's always been the easiest MMO on the market.

You really have no clue do you. Wow was hardcore at launch compared to what we got today. Let me guess you started playing after BC expansion.

Let me guess, WoW was your first MMO?

Vanilla WoW was casual compared to just about every MMO that came before it. It has always been a casual game.

if you played EQ1 or FF11 you would understand the term "challenging to level"

even in vanilla wow it was approx 1 bazillion times easier to level to max than in EQ or in FF11.  Not saying WoW in vanilla wasnt awesome... it was.  But it was always a joke to level.  WoW was about the extremely massive community, the theorycrafting, and the hard bossfights in the earlier dungeons.

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

do not get rid of tab targeting, I do not like this new gen of action combat, I would pick tab over that any day. Not all of us like action combat, actually most action combat games are still minority games, says it all.

This whole article is stupid, simple. Give wow to consoles, just completely destroy a game that hasn't quite done it by itself.

Go back to the days where everything wasn't a preset build.....I hate how I can only play my paladin 3 ways :holy, tank, or retro.....I liked it much better when I was given the skills of all 3 and I chose which ones I wanted...

Your wish list makes little to no sense. PvP i can get behind, but the rest? Getting rid of tab targeting would require a new game, cause that thing is kinda embeded realy deep into the gameplay and engine. Grind is just part of an MMO. Don't like it? Don't play MMOs. Besides, what would you be doing at endgame without it. Oh right, complain like you do everytime game has " very low to offer at endgame content", also known as gear grind. Loyalty program for veterans, well it's nice, but doesn't realy add into the game in any way. And last, not least, but most retarded. Why and how on earth would you make complex hotbar based MMO for consoles? Sure you could add some external gear to it, like mouse and keyboard, but why, when the game runs well even on a potato and almost anyone has a PC/Mac at home, not even speaking of core gamer base for MMOs which cares just about PC gaming anyway.

It'll be more of the same with a few neat new gimmicks and features, and I'll be fine with that.

I'm gonna have to say give us 2 branched of classes of each class, IE Hunters can become either Dragon Tamers, or Demon Hunters. Rogues can become Assassins or Stalkers.

I think with the Timeless Isle, they are testing that out as a new way of leveling up. I feel the experience will be much more GW2 style, where we can go anywhere, and still experience it at level, love the idea specially when playing with lower level friends. There will most likely be a lot more exploration and such, which can open it up to a lot more story inside the game. I mean with this, they can add new areas, and revamp old ones again and have people playing through the game at all times, sure a level 90 BiS would roll through the lower level areas even though he gets scaled down, but it would be much more fun!

I'm sure we will see new character models, but I also hope we can see it thrown on to a new game engine. Cross server bank/mail would be awesome lol even account bound bank/mail would be welcomed.

This "wish list" looks like a list that was thrown together in the last minute to make a deadline because the OP stayed up too late playing FF XiV. Every wish is bad and some even horrible.

I would like a bonus xp for alt levelling and I would be fine as I am an altoholic. Everything else is fine.

Oh yes, bring back proper talent trees.

  • JaedorJaedor Member UncommonPosts: 1,173

Disagree with everything on this list except veteran rewards. I stopped playing after six years without a break and had a nearly maxed account with 12 level 85s. Many weeks during that time I spent more hours in WoW than I did in my job.

I'm not sure what it would take for me to return. I couldn't even get my main to 90, just got tired of the endless grind. Some of the new things added with this xpac are good but imo Blizz will need to do something fairly radical to get players back, without killing the story they love.

Vanilla and TBC servers!!!  When the game was good.
  • ArthasmArthasm Member UncommonPosts: 785

Yeah, with everything easy in Wow (except raids, thanks god) make it more ultra dumb. We want more harder content, but I see someone wants to turn Wow into GW2. No thanks, it's way to fucking easy.

Edit: Got it, it's only article. Blizzard didn't listen to most their loyal fan base, so why do they will to article on web. Maybe in some parallel universe, but not on this planet.

Anyway, updated race models are like 25% (only?) done, but they still thinking to release them one by one as job is done or just wait until all races got facelift.

Again based on your post I can tell your days started after BC. When Wow launched the content was challenging and compared to modern MMO's you could almost say it was hardcore. :P  Anyway this is pointless I was there I know how it played. I have been playing games I'm sure longer then you have been alive. o/

As others have stated, removal of tab target is ridiculous.

WoW has the best combat on the market.  its fluid and easy to pick up and difficult to master.  there is an enormous gap between a competent player and a great one wearing the same gear, but most like to ignore this because it discredits their claims of tab target not requiring skill.  Changing the combat would probably ruin WoW overnight.

The PvP warzone continent would alienate the majority of the players who want PvP in controlled instances, if at all.   I would support a wintergrasp or Tol Barad that would be persistent, but not a whole continent.

Gear grind isnt that bad in itself, the ilevel system needs to go.  gear needs to be more complex with different builds allowable based off of different stats.  Try to transition away from a token grinding system as much as possible-be more creative

    Veteran rewards, yes, please.

And I dont have an issue with consoles and MMORPGs (EQOA and the two FFs are/were great MMOs), but WoW is deisgned for PC exclusively and would not work with a controller.

    my 5:

    5:  Housing.

4: Crafting.  i dont think it needs an overhaul.  Some crafters have their place in the economy, some dont.  Fix that.  Also focus more on crafted gear from raid drops.  Garrosh should drop high demand craft materials.  And finally, crafting legendary.  EQ2 did it, why cant WoW?

3:  Scaled old raids (but leave old versions in)

2: open world dungeons.  non linear, massive dungeons.

1:  An AA system that brings meaningful, but permanent choice/character progression (occasional respecs are ok, but not more than once a month or so)
