Follow me on Twitter if you dare.
bad year for MMOs (i enjoyed FFXIV ARR and POE),mediocre for PC and some consoles,Good for PS3,X360 Great for 3DS if you are a 3DS fan that is.
2014 is gonna be awesome for all.specially RPG fans its gonna 2011 all over again...
also good choices although as for runner up i would choose ESO and for Veteran i would Choose WoW (i played Eve too btw recently with my friend's acc, awesome game but not for me at least for now i play games mostly for story and stuff)
my top MMOs: UO,DAOC,WoW,GW2

I played my 3DS more than any other console. The new Zelda was amazing.

2013, 2012, or 2014- doesn't matter.
Far too many bitter old vets - we'll never have another "good" year for MMORPG gaming according to ya'll.
Personally? I've gotten a lot of enjoyment (even if short lived) with MMOs like GW2 and FFXIV in 2013, and am currently enjoying WoW again.
I'm looking forward to more WoW in 2014, maybe a crack at ESO, but more so D3 expansion and Destiny/The Division (pseudo-MMO ish games)
Hopeful for LOTS of great XB1 games this year like Titanfall, Halo 5 (maybe), the before mentioned D3 expansion (hopefully), Destiny, The Division, and (hopefully) great RPG's including Witcher 3, DA3, maybe a new ME, and FFXV.
amazing game indeed.it won GOTY on Gamespot i think.

sadly many ppl don't appreciate what they get like for example POE,a great free game and yet some bash it for wrong reasons.but still 2013 was a bad year for MMOs even without considering the bitter ppl and their lack of cooperation (since the more ppl in game the better for the game itself),although i am talking about new releases for 2013 otherwise if you count games from previous years i am still playing GW2 and TSW (took a break from WoW after MoP,although did hit 90 and lvled a Panda Monk, gonna try WoD when it comes).FFXIV and POE were good or even great still doesn't make the year good.although this is more depend on your taste.
also good choices i am looking forward to all those games too plus Dark Souls 2 in RPG genre and many more in other genres.(not a fan of D3 though still a great game hope the expansion become a game changer and lure me)

2013 was a bad year for mmos
but I'm happy that SOE re-vitalized their poor ftp business model for EQ2
in 2013, SOE removed most of the ftp restrictions for EQ2
- class, race, gear, bags, bank restrictions were all removed

Would definately be an improvement for this forum. So... make it happen ?
But please no facebook nonsense.
Concerning last year's MMOs, yes, really not a great one.
I agree, 100%
These next 2 years are going to be alot better.
Third-ed
I will agree with you on Path of Exile. The depth that that game brought was pretty impressive (skill system). Their FTP model is nice, too.
I just don't really think of it as a full blown MMO, though. Moreover, the game is just too short. Gear grinding is fun, but not if there isn't some purpose to do so, e.g., high end raiding, world pvp, etc. when I played, PvP was not in it. It just felt half-complete.
We need a Top 10 list of Advertisement dollars given to MMORPG.com
You know how bad 2013 was when DayZ shows up as a "rising star" on a list on a mmorpg site and Defiance gets listed anywhere else but in the "worst of 2013" charts.
"Defiance’s overarching goal to tie a TV show in with an MMO shooter was a ballsy and ambitious move."
Funny someone still mentions the tie-in in any other context than being nothing but a PR stunt.
Yeah and honestly, that should have gotten more attention imo. It made that game (at least for me and few other I know) really worth a (4th maybe 5th? by now) look.
But yeah, pretty small silver lining on what is otherwise a dismal year in on-line gaming. Lets hope 2014 delivers enough to let us all forget the great gaming drought of 2013.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.
You mean "A Link between Worlds"? I liked it very much but it was also very short. I think that Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks used the features of the Nintendo DS very good. I missed that in "Link betweek Worlds". And dId I mentioned it was very short compared to the other two DS Zelda Games?
