Who's buying after trying out the beta?

odienmanodienman Member UncommonPosts: 61

I can't recall a game in recent memory that has gotten so much hate and predictions of failure.  I myself have been wondering what game people have been playing, since  it's probably the first MMO I actually like the PvE of (I've mainly only played MMO's for PvP and shooting the shit with buddies).  I hear all this crap about combat sucking and what not, but so far its alright.  The only games combat that was remotely fun (PvE) was City of Hero's due to knocking shit around.  But pretty much all MMO's fall into this predictable wade up to a enemy that can see you from a mile away and yet don't get concerned or attack you first. Moments later they let you engage it on your terms and do so with little regard of threat.  ESO is slightly better and yes the collision things is kinda of a sore spot for brief moments (but not that bad, and has improved continously..... it is beta after all).

The thing that I think makes it for me though, is no game has had a environment that has drawn me in and actually enjoy its game world (Best looking MMO I've played to date and I've played all major ones in the last 10 years).  It's a little lonely at times, but I kinda like this type of adventuring loneliness because I feel connected to the world and genuinely want to explore it and I don't feel hand held like pretty much every MMO out there.

AvA is ....nda, but like I said I'm a pvp guy and its generally all I care about, but it's good enough for me to be buying into this game.

So who else was impressed enough with Beta (or Weekend Beta's) to purchase?

i'll buy it if / when the subscription becomes optional. I would be OK supporting the game with a box price and expansions or DLC, definitelly not subscription material here.

Not I. But then I've never been an ES fan, so this game isn't really aimed at people like me.

Pre-ordered but am considering cancelling it.

I don't think this game will hold my interest like other Elder Scrolls games have.

Yeah I'm still buying it. Dont think I could get a refund after that free copy of AC4 :p

I like the game myself anyway.

I love it, although I'm waiting in an hour-long queue right now.  I am not a big Elder Scrolls fan, but this is still a definite buy for me.  Now, if they would just bring that price tag down a little.  It seems a little bit like a slap in the face, considering I can play Rift for free and it is also a great MMO.

    Currently playing:
    Rift
    Played:
SWToR, Aion,EQ, Dark Age of Camelot
    World of Warcraft, AoC

I have played the beta, and watched a lot of other people play and also watched reviews and so on. As an elder scrolls fan, I will not buy ESO, no way that is going to happen, nope, not a chance. Sad to say.

Playing in my second beta and enjoying it even more than the first.  Will definitely be buying, and will have no issue with supporting the game via subscription thereafter as well.  The only item i would not consider would be a lifetime subscription option, but am pleased the monthly sub option is there.

Definitely in for myself and significant other.

I would say that the gaming community has become a pretty negative and toxic place (not just around ESO). Hopefully one day people will be able to sit down and just enjoy a video game for the entertainment it provides. If you don't like it, that is fine, but no reason to ruin everyone elses day just because it isn't your cup of tea.

My advice, if you are interested in it, try it out.

Not I- I think TESO will be a decent theme park but I am can't see myself spending a lot of money on these types of games any more. If it was FTP, I might keep it installed but the experience does not seem worth the price of admission to me.
  • ElikalElikal Member UncommonPosts: 7,912

Not me. The longer I play, the less I like it. Not bad, but when I alt-tab out of the game when a long speech happens, to read some websites it is surely no sign of me being well entertained.

As F2P game, yes. As 60-100 bucks box + 15 bucks monthly... no way.

Nope, I don t think it s a very good game at all. I ve played worse this year (GW2) but this is a close second, of the so called AAA MMORPGs.
  • srsnoobsrsnoob Member Posts: 44

No. It just made me miss Skyrim.

Gameplay: Mix of Skyrim and GW2 but not as good as either. There are trinity elements for group play but I didn't spend much time with that. I know a way to improve it but I don't know if I can mention it.

Graphics: Same style as Skyrim but with less detailed textures; in other words an inferior Skyrim.

Music: Was enjoyable and fit the mood of the game. I liked it.

    Interface: Confusing and annoying.

PVP: Basically the same setup as GW2 but no pvp specific armor.

Even though all this was public info, I don't think I can explain more because of the silly NDA.

Won't buy after playing beta. Felt like playing a cheap, indie remake of Skyrim. It combines single player Elder Scrolls with MMO and takes away everything that is good from both of genres. Or at least that is how I feel. I am really happy I was allowed to play that beta, because I was close to support them with my money. Now I know not to, hope that more people will do the same, because I don't want them to be successful and continue going that direction with next games..

Already bought the Imperial dce, enjoyed my time in the last beta to decide, and continue to enjoy this beta.
