This is a little disappointing, but not too bad. I mean I really don't think it'll affect more than maybe 1% of the player base, this ain't your average mmorpg and getting to 50 isn't quick in this game, by any means(thank god). So except for the ones with no life, literally NO LIFE, who get to 50 quicker than thought possible because they do shifts with other "no life" buddies on one, maybe two characters so that character is never not being played, a much larger majority will get to cap probably around the time when the first Adventure Zone is implemented. Well not me, I plan on taking my time because you know, it's a friggin Elder Scrolls game(whether you like to admit it or not), and who the hell blasts through an ES game? It's just a bit disappointing when these things happen because it seems like the game isn't finished, but then again did they ever say Adventure Zones were to be in at launch? I'm sure everyone going on and on about the bugs are happy about this though, better Adventure Zones are a smooth, fun experience instead of a buggy headache, so go ahead, get it right Zenimax.
Originally posted by Acceleratum The pve content is quite generic, theres not enough innovation and not much appeal to mmo veterans, the pvp is amazing but what I was lookin for was a persistent world with exploration as a deep part of it like the skyrim and other Elder scrolls single player games.. this wasnt delivered.. the zones are really small specially the first ones and its all aboutquest hubs just like wow and all other wow clones lately.. without raids or anything to substitute them the only real cherry at the end of the boring pve leveling is the pvp, and that wont last for long or appeal to everyone so I sense a 6 month change to free to play or total flop unless they deliver new content fast.
I'm a MMO veteran, and I found the early to mid PVE refreshing. This wasn't the same questing nor the same combat I've grown sick of over the past decade. I also explored the shit out of this game. There may be quest hubs, but there are a large amount of quests you aren't led to but rather have to explore to find. You can't walk into a dungeon and clear it and walk out with all the gear the bandits wore because enemies only drop a few coins, but you can walk into a dungeon and find a quest to do. That is what exploration is in this game. I'm hoping that ZOS not releasing the first adventure zone due to bugs means that the bugged as fuck main alliance quest lines from the last beta aren't indicators of the best build they have, but I do realize that Bethesda is involved here. I'm also hoping this doesn't delay further adventure zones, I want to be spoiled for choice of things to do when I hit cap.
Wait mobs don't drop their gear? And they call this an Elder Scroll game? That is what made Elder Scrolls so awesome was that sense of realism. Mobs had the gear they were fighting with and you could pick it up if it was better than you had, grabbing arrows when you were running low etc... Coming out of a dungeon with as much gear as you could carry without being encumbered to take to town and sell. That was what made exploring dungeons fun. Glad you let me know as I would have been really disappointed if I found out after buying it.
Yea cause that would make a lot of sense in an mmo, with every mobs you fight in a dungeon drop a full set of gear.
Just have a mule do the selling run for you and get as much gold as you ever need in a matter of hours...
If that is what you are looking for in a game you should probably stick to single player ones.
An MMO is all about time vs. reward. In TES games mobs drop the loot they had equipped, but you don't pick up 90% of it because it isn't as good as what you are using and/or the sell value isn't worth the effort. An MMO can work exactly the same way it is a time value proposition. It takes time for the player to fill up their bags and go sell stuff that come back, if you can more more just picking up select goods that sell well and move on that is what most players will do. However the choice is there for player to make and it is balanced with a time sink just like everything else in an MMO. And TES games are all about letting the player decide. The more they make silly decisions like monsters not dropping the gear that they were just using, the more and more immersion is broken and the more and more we are reminded that isn't Elder Scrolls, this is just another MMO with a TES skin put on it to drive sales.
As for sticking to single player games goes, for a real TES experience, for my solo RPG fix I think that is what everybody should do. When I want to play an MMO I will play a game designed to be an MMO not something trying to be some weird combination that doesn't manage to accomplish either immersive single player game play or highly social MMO gameplay very well.

Seriously? Ummmm, no, Captain America = Not important.
But in relation to the release of TESO; i am very eager to start my Gathering & Crafting journey in this game on the 30th.
Next Sunday can not get here any sooner.
And i still can't believe Robert Lashley is convinced the new Captain America is worthy enough to be spoken in the same breath with an Elder Scrolls title..... That's just complete utter lunacy right there. Talos will strike you down!

not an issue at all. as you stated in the article, the adventure zone is for level 50+ players. They have said it will be the fist added content in 3-4 weeks. not months. Its going to take the majority of the player base longer than that just to get to level 50, longer to get to level 50+. If a player does EVERYTHING the game has to offer, instead of skipping content just to try to be the first to get the imaginary prize for being one of the first to level 50, then it will take a long time to get to the point where they can do the adventure zones. Crafting alone is going to take a long time to master. So, with that said. there is plenty to do in this game till the adventure zone is added to the game. Not an issue at all.
Never understood the "I have to be the first one there" mentality. It reminds me of those guys who race you at the lights but what they are missing is that you aren't actually racing them.
In before the many trolls come out.
Some people are just very good at MMOS. You might feel they are rushing but they are not. For them its normal playstyle. Also remember that players who have been playing beta for months now already familiar with content and will hit level cap in no time.
there are people who dual or even 3 box games, does that make them good?frankly in eq if i found a dual boxer in party i dropped out as they were mainly worthless.but hey wow has the ultimate speed, you buy lvl 90.

Or the obvious answer which is you can't carry every set of gear, you have weight limits as well as space limits.

That's why you have a mule doing the sell runs old Eve style.
In a single player ES games the economy is not important at all, it doesn't matter if you own a house in every city and got tons of gold.
In an MMORPG economy do matter.
