Yes and no. Because of the way the bolster mechanic works in RvR, a 1-49 will be bolstered to about the same level, a 50 on the other hand has full stats. From a PvP point of view, that's a pretty powerful advantage. Sure the character may not have a full allotment of skill points, but I suspect that can be pretty quickly remedied. Remember it's the people who want to be Emperor that are making the rush because 50 IS a pretty significant advantage when most people are not.

That's not the point. This thread says lvl 50 is the max. Which is totally false and misleading. There are still 2 factions worth of levelling to do with their lvl 50 char.
Actually it is the point. You re saying getting 10 VR isn t easy, how do you know it isn t.
Because you have to go in the 2 other factions, with lvl50+ mobs. They could have exploited an XP glitch on lower mobs to get this high this fast.
What does power leveling have to do with it? You've been following MMORPG.COM longer than I have. You've seen this play out for release after release. I know that you know the drill by now. Power levelers are hitting cap now. The masses will be following along over the next few weeks. Either way, by the time the free month is over, there will be many players who are "done". The time will be measured in days to weeks, instead of weeks to months. The subs will follow the same pattern.
Of course I know the drill, and it's certainly not that black and white. What does power leveling have to do with it? Well it is the subject matter of this thread. You're acting as though this one guy is truly indicative of the overall experience... It's two completely separate issues that you're arguing here as one...
This subject is about this one guy hitting 50 today.... It's not about whether the game has enough content to keep people a few weeks. What this guy did was skip the content, he played against the grain, his experience is in no way representative of a casual as intended experience in the game. This says nothing about whether there is enough or not enough, what it says is this guy found a way around it. IF that's what he wanted to do, that's his right as a consumer. Who should stop him if that's what he wanted to do?

Originally posted by Bigdaddyx Originally posted by GeezerGamerOh now where have I seen this scenario play out before? This has been the bane of every new major MMORPG launch for the past how many years? It happend in the early access to GW2, someone hit 80 that weekend, I remember being low level seeing players in FF14 running around in their Magitech mounts. So why did anyone think it wouldn't happen here?Who was it, in this thread, who said it shouldn't be possible in an MMORPG? He's right, but here we are.
Everyy single MMO released since WOW...players have been hitting max level in couple of days.
It was naive to think that XP nerf is going to stop these people.
But XP nerfs will punish the rest of players who will be forced to do all content to reach max level instead of having a choice in quests and areas and leaving some quests/areas to experience on an alt. Even worse for those who try to level in pvp since a lv 50 is much more powerful than a boosted lv 10 . An easy way to prevent the game being a race is to separate level/skill gains from game content, the way EVE online does. Not a popular solution but works well in a p2p game and players can enjoy the game at their own pace without being worried they are left behind by the ones playing 24/7 (and the difference between old accounts and new ones was just that older ones had a bigger choice in skills, you could specialize in a type of ship and catch with veterans fast enough in EVE)
I heard there were some exploits, we will see if Zenimax does anything about it. Now we can watch those players complain there is not enough content in the game.
Personally, I was interested in this game, but stories from Alpha and Beta have scared me off. This post in it's entirety reminds me of EQ2 release and people being max level extremely quickly. Just another reason not to give this game a chance and wait till it is some how worth playing.
I've put in 14 hours and I'm only level 10. There's plenty to fill your time if you let it. Max level rushers just waste their money. They have literally paid for all the content they are skipping.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

OK, sure, it's only one guy today. But the fact that it's possible should be an indicator. Anyway, I guess the next few days/weeks will be more telling.
Both GW2 and FF14 (The 2 recent games I was in early access to) fit your description. They had plenty of content. But once someone hit cap, others just followed suit. It will become the norm to skip content. People will do it now that they know it can be done.
Anyway, I am speaking historically here, Maybe TESO will differ, but I'm still not betting my money on it. Not again.
It only took 17 hours and 34 minutes to Jake Shelton, member of our War Legend Guild, to reach the level 50 with his Sorcerer on The Elder Scrolls Online.
Well, duh, but you re implying fact. I ll say it again, you don t know yet. Wait a few days, and I m sure someone will be VR10.
In fact, you are implying that I'm right when I say VR levels aren't as easy as getting to lvl 50.
Huh, lol, never said such things. All I m saying is YOU DON T KNOW YET.
LVL 1 -> 50 in 17h
VR0 -> VR10 : A few days.
Never said such things, heh ? *trolling*
Oh good god, you re taking things out of context. I said you don t know yet, just because I said wait a few days doesn t imply it is harder, it s just something I said. Once again , YOU DON T KNOW YET. You might be right, but you can t say with ceratainty.

Well I get that, many were freaking out when it was being thrown around that you have to quest to progress efficiently last week. This kinda disproves that theory. I'm sure many will follow suit here, but that's mostly the PVPers in TESO. They have their own agenda in that regard be it being Top dog on the battlefield, or going all the way to the imperial throne first. They actually do have something to do/work toward once they get to 50.
Those into the PVE on the other hand, have no real incentive to play in such a way.

You didn't play Skyrim in competition with other players so don't compare it to Skyrim. Also from what I know TESO pve gameplay is quite limited, you want to go to enemy lands before 50 ? Bad,bad player - go back and finish all the quests before that.
Think I might start to worry if the majority of players currently in 5day hs and the next 3day hs would reach cap lvl before actuall release.
Wouldn't worry about those few that might, keeping in mind they like that sort of thing in their MMORPG to rush to cap lvl. Which is all fine, aslong they are not the ones who start complaining.
"uuuh i reached max lvl in xxx hours and xxx mins, and now i have nothing to do! what a stupid game!"
as i mention before, you can also rush through skyrim in an hour. but it is just stupid to do so.
But now that the cat is out of the bag, this is exactly what will happen.
Look what happened in FFXIV:ARR. Soon as someone hit 50 by fate grinding and skipping all that content, the entire game across all realms became nothing more than one huge fate grinding power leveler. The masses started hitting 50 in days. Once someone finds an "easier way" to level. That becomes the "standard" to level. Then entire communities will miss much of a game's content for the sake of hitting cap.
Why?
I don't think it's because players want to bypass content. It's because players are afraid of getting behind other players and will somehow be left out. So this is what happens. It's the developer's fault for allowing it to happen in the 1st place.

What competition? PvP is scaled... the rest is teamwork.
.. and the other faction's PvE content is locked to 50, yes. But, and this is a fact, it's the most PVE content ever at an MMO's launch. Plus you can just, you know, make a character on the other faction if you wanna play before getting to 50.

My 2 pennies:
I quit playing console games years ago when the time it took to beat the game, began to fall into the 7 day rental slot (pre DLC).
I see the trend continuing to my PC now.
Glad I have moved my free time into a different hobby.
ESO is going to be all about the consoles and PvP. I thought this is what you wanted? With all the "Yay, ESO, where levels wont matter..."
