Trying out Tera. Because I can play it with a gamepad, the art is pretty, the world isn't too gritty, and the quest dialogues are pretty good.
I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story. So PM me if you are starting one.
GW2 is what it is. My wife and I can go in and progress with an hour here and there and not feel too tied to anything. That kind of sucks, but there's a benefit there when we're busy. Their seasonal / story content over the last few months was fun to participate in even if I only ever got to see like 10% of it.
Pirates101 cuz it's a tactics game. I like what KingsIsle does to be different.
I probably do more 'mmoing' on GTAV tho' on my PS3.
Not playing any mmo really. Eve sometimes, but im rather burned out on that game after 5 years. Hoping that Star Citizen or EQ next will get me excited again. I had actually considered buying AA at release but after wating for so long for them to release it in the US; I think I'm just going to boycott that game for their bs.
Originally posted by Albatroes In around 10 hours, I'm playing Archeage. Till then just doing stuff on rift and decided to give the Tera Reaper a go. I actually have SWTOR dl'ing in the background but was curious how its f2p model is?
The F2P is alright, especially if you're new to the game and not used to having the sub benefits.
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)
None. I was playing ESO...but alas, like pretty much every other MMORPG as of late it became boring fast.
When will we move away from this "You are the hero", achievement/leader board driven, on rails, HEAVILY solo friendly (To the point there is no need for anyone...ever) stuff and get back to what made MMORPG's a separate genre from console games. Now they ARE basically console games...just with other people playing the NPC's.

Hopefully never. I don't want my fun to depend on others.

Yes...we've all heard a billion times how you want fun you can do alone (Which makes me wonder why you are so active on an MMO site). But we are talking about MMO's in this thread. Which..allow me to tell you what that definition is since you don't seem to understand it...Massive MULTI-PLAYER Online.
In MMORPG's, it's perfectly fine to include plenty of soloable content...but not to the point it render's having other people within the game nothing more than NPC's. MMORPG's...as they were, were meant for some form of group play as well. Why make it massive multi-player if you don't interact with other people. May as well be a single player game.

and i have heard a billion times of ranting against soloing ... so?
And what is the problem with treating players like NPC if that is what the players want? Yes, many MMOs may as well be SP games. I have no problem with that. It is just labeling.

Point out where I said I was against soloing. Oh...you can't, because I didn't. But nice try.
And who says that is what players want...I mean beyond you? It seems to me...through actually playing MMORPG's, that it's what just happens based on the way the games are set up.
When they are made to be extremely easy to level, give the player the ability to slice through hordes of mobs with little effort so they feel like the "hero", are highly instanced and easy to instantly port wherever you want for "convenience of time"...what need is there for other players.
I'm not going to waste my time explaining the differences to you because it will land on deaf ears and be countered with some more D3/WoT/LoL/what players want jibberish...as is tradition with you.

If you can state you don't like it, i don't see a reason why I cannot state i like it.
Obviously you may not like opinions different from yours, but you may have to live with that on the internet.

LOL! Says the guy who ALWAYS has something to say of others opinions different from his own.
Comprehension is not your strong suit.
The difference between us is...you are totally anti- grouping...where as I have stated in almost any thread you find me in that both options are ok within MMORPG's. Just that they should be balanced out and not lean heavily to only one end. Which is what I meant by that highlighted portion.
I solo plenty in MMORPG's...but would also like to group. It's just most of today's MMORPG's don't have much to offer within that option (grouping)...sadly. It doesn't mean that's what everyone wants. It's just what they offer to pull people into them...and people continue to buy them up, complain, then move on to the next money grab game. A sad vicious circle.
TIBIA, because there is nothing better so far. Waiting for Lineage Eternal expecting a great old school feel like Lineage 1 - Lineage 2(C1 - Kamael days).

IMO of course.
People are giving you trash but this is exactly the problem with MMOs now. You should be able to solo in MMOs, obviously, but it should be a challenge. It should be easier to group up and XP.. not harder. Solo content should be challenging and engaging. While party content should be faster, but epic. I put forth that the best MMOs were DAOC, FFXI, SWG and WOW Vanilla/BC. Back when it took time to level, it took skill and it took friends. This was accomplishment. Now-a-days, people just solo 1-Max in a week with almost no difficulty. It seems like a horrible take on the MMO.
Also, IMO of course.
Currently I just quit Wildstar and I am not playing any MMOs. Would love to find one that was fun though.
Comments
i play mostly swtor and a litle bit of wildstar but it sems to be less and less every week :P
i play swtor couse its starwars and i like how the combat is and how polished the game feels + the end game!
Im back to SWTOR, after wasting money on ESO.
Bought FFXIV last week and gonna try that one out, also got a beta key for Archage, that will be interesting.

Nothing atm.. none of them are worth my money or time.
When my new rig arrives, i'll play WS for a little while (as a game, not so much as an mmo..)
I'm still waiting on AA and open beta, hope it'll provide entertainment for several months if not years.
GW2, latest story update was great!
Also rarely played in Diablo3 expansion, but it was TOO short and reapeating became too boring...
Currently playing ARR because I had the itch to go back and check it out. Having fun.
Also playing EQ1 for nostalgia.
Waiting for AA release.
