For all you PC groupies posting all your hate up here, PC sales have been dropping over the last 2 years. This year looks to make it 3 years in a row. Many companies just don't wish to invest money into a market that is slowly dying off. Being a PC owner myself I understand how expensive it can get to maintain/upgrade a PC for newer games. Sometimes you have to go as far as getting a brand new one. At least I can still get use out of my old consoles. I prefer my MMO's on PC but so far I feel Destiny belongs on a console. Honestly for the type of games that are coming out in today's market a PC would cost you 2x, (3x for those of you that have to have the best of the best) more than a console. I love my PC. I will always have a PC, but my console gets just as much love. Not to mention there is resale value in an unwanted Destiny console disc over none for a PC one.
People defending Destiny: -"Just wait to try the beta before saying it sucks." -"That was only beta. Just wait to play the full game before saying it sucks." -"The game has only been out a day. Get to max level before saying it sucks." -"Game is still new. Just wait until some DLC is released before saying it sucks."
Gotta love the my game is better than your game duels. Wait it's just beta, wait it's only a day old, well (sniffle snort sniffle) it's not on pc therefore (snort sniffle) it sux. I hate Destiny because it's stealing all the thunder that belongs to ArcheAge, the best and only true mmorpg that doesn't hold your hand like all of those other garbage mmorpgs like World of Warcraft and League of Legends, ah hahahaha!!! (Sniffle snort sniffle sniffle) we have got you now League of Legends is not an mmorpg , you obviously never played Ultima Online, you have no right to speak!!!

Add up the player bases of MOBA's like LOL and MMO's like WoW and even counting for a far amount of overlap you still have a huge market of tens of millions of players. Add in games like the Civ series that never really have been translated to consoles well and it's even larger.
Having said that FPS's dominate on the console market and for good reason. You get more consistent performance for less money playing games on a console and playing on a couch is much more comfortable when you don't have to be that focused on what you are doing. I like PC games and probably spend more time playing games there than on a console but there are certain types of games I prefer to play on a console. It's not really a either or question for me but rather which one fits the game better.
Each map is huge. Much larger than the average vanilla WoW zone. Guessing... old Russia for example is more or less about 3 to 4 Vanilla WoW zones for sure.
The maps are really huge and they have to be, as you can go fast in afterburn mode with your sparrow. It's awesome
This is completely wrong - Old Russia is *tiny* - same as the moon map which one guy explored in entirety today on twitch in 25 minutes which included a lot of stops to fight etc...
IMO Destiny with 4 playable areas at launch - is very small.
Yeah.... Did that guy hit Level 20 and went back to each planet? As there are big chunks of each map that won't open up to you until you hit Level 20. Like Kings Watch in Old Russia.
Even I didn't know this and just found out, as I was already wondering why I couldn't reach that part of the map yesterday and thought is was going to be some DLC content in future.
This is exactly the problem with this game! Just like any other newly released MMO these days.
Bunch of Power gamers rushing through the campain. Sit behind the screen 17 hours straight. Completely burned out and think they beat the game and are done! Then go to the internet and start complaining about lack of content, while they have ignored over 80% of the game. Intentionally or just darn ignorant! /FACEPALM
Just go check those New Level 20 profiles on Bungie.net! Most of them have all white gear, done nothing else, but burning through the campain and that's it.

Have the exploration missions changed? Because they were still "Go to this point, shoot everything, profit" when I was in beta. Exploration mode is cool and all, but if the only thing you ever find are hordes of aliens to shoot and random places to point your robot.. It still isn't much in the way of content. And the lack of storytelling documented already by game sites (search IGN Destiny) doesn't help this.

There are several types of patrol missions. Then you have Bounty missions you pick up at The Tower. Then you have Public Events. Then you have harvesting for upgrades, exploring and hunting for treasure chests, dead ghosts, elite/boss mobs that drop stuff (engrams) to turn in, etc.
I mean, every single game with quests/missions can be torn apart and broken down to basically FedEx, shoot, scan this, etc.
I mean Mass Effect, when you break it Down is basically:
- Blast Your way through hordes of mobs. Scan Object.
- Blast Your way through hordes of mobs. Rescue person.
- Blast Your way through hordes of mobs. Pick up Object.
- Blast Your way through hordes of mobs. Talk to person.
Blast Your way through hordes of mobs. Defeat boss.
I think Bungie highly underestimated the current generation of gamers and their willingness to figure things out.
Destiny doesn't hold your hand, except for the Story campain. All the rest you have to figure out yourself.
And that's the problem. People need everything handed out to them on day 1 and pointed exactly where to go and what to do, or they just completely ignore it and just don't know it's there! /shrug

So you created a new mmorpg.com account to spew out lies? Scared to post on your main account?
HP was one of the big companies who thought laptops and PCs were going to die as well, since 2013 they have recanted their story and their sales actually have improved throughout all of 2014. Check the Wall Street journal, check the quarterly reports.
Looks like even Best Buy has proved laptop sales up compared to tablets. Pc sales are dead you say? lol again you're WRONG
So go head with your "PC IS DEAD, PC GAMING IS DEAD", those who think that are wrong. Please come back in another 10 years.
P.S. I love my PS4, its a nice console, but I'm not some blind fanboy. I'm a gamer, whether it's console, pc, or tabletop, I don't care as long as it's fun.
I'm not a big console guy despite owning my wonderful Blue Ray player PS3. But as an enthusiast I wanted to know the hoopla about this game. I went around to random reviews that showed a vast disparity on the impressions of this game. But reading of it from your MMO perspective was all I needed.
Although nothing would lead me to play this or really any console game in front of a TV, Destiny sounds innovative for the "multi player" genre as a whole.
I've already bought the first two DLC, and I believe they have announced the first will be released in December.
It's perfect for me, I'll be playing the crap out of Destiny until mid November, then it's Halo MCC, AC: Unity, and then DA:I followed by more Destiny in December than Witcher, Division etc. in 2015 (followed by more Destiny)
^^THIS lol, a good RPG you can do a run through in a few days, a decent "MMOish" game you can get a few months out of.
That and i do love my White PS4.. its unique if nothing else
So $60 for the game, then dlc a month or two down the road at $30-40 sounds like a p2p mmo to me- 1st 30 days come with the game then if its 2 months down the road $30 divided by 2 = $15 a month. Hope they keep the content in line with an mmo then.
Just picked up a PS4 to have a shot at Destiny - I am having a blast, finished the story and can't wait for more, The replayability of strike missions in higher difficulties for gear is a surprisingly incredible experience with clanmates over comms. The gun fights and super abilities are so fluid, which is no surprise from Bungie - just can't get enough!
Dw about the haters, they're upset at life in general and will be the same people to shower hate on other games and will probably use Destiny as a benchmark comparison in 5 years time, life of a butthurt gamer. Unfortunately there won't be a lot of positive feedback in a while as everyone would rather be playing than venturing out to leave reviews, anyway, back to it, raid is almost out and need to gear up!
"My game is a rip-off of your game that is a rip-off of CoD that is a rip-off of CS that is a rip-off of Goldeneye that is a rip-off of Doom that is a rip-off of Wolfenstein that is a rip-off of Spasim that is a rip-off of Maze War"

Something is fishy with your 1 whole post and and join date of today the 12th. Are they paying you to do damage control?
Oh and whats with this secret message that appears in your post when replying to you and editing but not in your actual finished post? - "My game is a rip-off of your game that is a rip-off of CoD that is a rip-off of CS that is a rip-off of Goldeneye that is a rip-off of Doom that is a rip-off of Wolfenstein that is a rip-off of Spasim that is a rip-off of Maze War"
I'm enjoying Destiny quite a lot, but it does feel like they started something and just never got quite finished.
I enjoy the fact I dont have hundreds of people on my screen bunny hopping and acting like fools, I'm glad they do not have proximity voice chat ruining immersion and gameplay, but text chat would've been nice. And easier social interactivity would've been just as nice. Try inviting a random stranger, it's tedious.
It was suppose to be the FPS to change things, instead it took a little bit of all that came before it and improved on none.
You know, I read the headline for this article and the first thing that comes to mind is "Strait into a brick wall built by a combination of MAG and Planetside 2, the Borderlands series where it apes the equipment hunting from, and a universe with vague narrative foreshadowing."
The Halo series had a great set up with building enemies that have weakpoints and interesting mechanics, it's just that when you combine this with Borderlands style weapon mechanics, the only option left to the developer is to give enemies more HP. So we end up with enemies that may have reasonable mechanics staying alive too long and rendering some of those mechanics to be annoying or seem out of place.
This isn't anything new either: anyone who played on RPG modded Monster Madness servers back in the UT2k4 days knows where things eventually end up. The monsters get so many Hit points that eventually it turns into a camping marathon trying to widdle the beasts down while avoiding getting surrounded by smaller and less powerful enemies. In fact I was watching angry joe stream a gaming session against a boss enemy and the first thought that came to mind was "Hey, that's a lot like being near the mid level monster waves fighting against a Titan in UT2k4 RPG monster madness."

These are FACTs, not some forum dwellers opinion. Microsoft themselves have stated in 2014 they underestimated laptop & PC sales, and tablets have NOT taken off like they thought they would. I watched a few videos and I dont get it.
Same was true for TitanFall I tried to give the hype some credit but I really do not understand the hype one bit not even a little bit.
Its just a shooter.
