As at 6:30pm CEST tonight on the EU servers:
Shatigon - 5537
Kyprosa - 5195
Eanna - 4085
Dahuta - 3805
Aier - 2904
Orchidna - 2246
I wouldn't be surprised if Trion add another server or two...
Somehow I think they weren't expecting this. At all.

Oops, forgot to add:
Melisara - 2658
There's 7 servers for the EU (about 10 for the US).
There were 4 at the start of Early Access, then 3 more were added at launch due to insane demand.
Don't forget, this is supposedly a niche game, heavily PVP-oriented, not the latest AAA themepark for the masses.
Was only 4 in headstart.... 5 at launch.......

Can't tell, there's only one number displayed.
These are the numbers I see (I'm an Archeum Founder). My wait time simply says: " Wait Time: > 1 h"
Too many servers and the game is failing!!!! 11 when they shut some down
A F2P mmo with such a huge hype and only 7 servers at launch? you make it sound as if AA launched with 20+ servers and still have to add new.
Nowdays 6 to 7 servers are nothing at launch.
It is.
The goldsellers must be dancing with delight at the sight of these queues !
Their bots are already industriously farming mobs to generate gold for all the rich western gamers who are desperate for an "early advantage" at any price.... *cough*
Look at it another way. Maybe this was their intention all along. Doesn't paying for a founder or some other some pack give you priority in the queue? If so, isn't this a way to drive people to pay for these?
I'm sure Trion has peeps data mining the login queues to compare patron to F2P; they need servers to be busy-to-the-point-of-full or it could fail, yet need to be able to get peeps into the game. Very tough to balance, as the content locusts will be gone in 2-4 weeks and then you could be left with not enough players for the long haul.
I don't envy them one bit but this sure looks lousy. >.<
Patrons also have queues on most servers during primetime. Shorter queues, usually a few hundred and only 30 minutes but it is there. it is also worth noting that patron status isn't the only way to spend money. People sitting in queues are not buying stuff off the market place or generating gold that will be used to drive the demand for apex.
All die, so die well.
I tried to join but I'm not going to wait in any queue sorry.
I went to go play another indie MMO that is actually extremely interesting in its model made by some of the creators of Asheron's call called Project Gorgon extremely alpha but free to play
I'd still rather suffer the queues now for the first couple weeks than end up with ghost town servers when all the curiosity seekers bail out.
So while it is annoying now (especially since I need to get on there and harvest my trees!) it does bode well for the long term population if they stick to a smaller amount of overall servers.

"Never attribute to malice that which can be easily explained by simple ineptitude"
Perhaps Trion have a devious masterplan. However, in that case they are doing it wrong. If you want to encourage people to pay for the faster queue, then SHOW THEM THE ADVANTAGE ! Don't just show them one generic number !
No, it really looks like Trion didn't anticipate these numbers. They've been very hesitant with almost everything regarding the game so far. Small team backing it up, low profile marketing, etc. Perhaps it is because XLGames didn't believe there would be much uptake in the west. Who knows ?
While this is annoying it is still for the best. Players do play more for the first 2 weeks so adding too many servers early would be a serious mistake in a game where merging servers would be a total nightmare due to player owned farms in the open world.
You can get complaints the first 2 weeks, or you can get them from week 3 and onwards...
Well said...
The F2P influx of players will settle down considering things might take somewhat too long to achieve for f2p players who don't want to spend any extra money of go "freemium"
Opening up more servers now might eventually end up hurting the game and will only be good short term.
But here's a thought, there haven't been a lot of new games coming out and people are "bored" (which always drives me nuts) so they are probably just jumping in for something to do.

You had no queue at 11:00am PDT on a Wednesday morning outside of school holidays ?
There were almost no queues on any EU servers at 11:00am this morning either. I suggest you check back on Naima during US primetime...
