Archeage NA + Europe just hit 2,000,000 registered users... in 21 servers. Are the rest of you as surprised as I am that the server capacity is 100K?

2 million registered users does not equate 2 million concurrent active users in-game.
Seriously speaking, you did not know that?

Do you?
i mean you are assuming all of them are online if you are 'surprised' at how the server cap is 100k. Can't blame someone for pointing out that 100k is plenty for a game that does not have 100k concurrent users, therefore 100k is not a surprising limit to him.
It does seem to be to you though so.... yeah i totally see where he connected those dots.
The Deep Web is sca-ry.
I think the real story here is:
"I’m happy to announce we’ve booted out over six figures worth of bad actors from the game, and have started up new processes that are aimed at keeping their reentry as difficult as possible. (Yes, that two million number up there does have these folks subtracted from it already.)"

I'm a registered user and I quit after a week. When the game is F2P playing it once means you're registered for life. Hell you don't even have to play it you could sign up and never get past character creation and the fanboi's would still somehow count this as a victory.
I didn't see anything in that link that even remotely suggested 2 million concurrent users or a 100k server capacity.
Were you just looking to start trouble or did you not read the content you linked to?

What does "2 million registered users" really mean other than the fact that 2 million accounts have been created ? It tells us very little. World of Tanks has 65 million registered accounts.
How many distinct daily logins would be a meaningful number. The registered account number only ever increases, which is one of the reasons why it's so popular with marketing folks.
If Trion suddenly announce that they are starting development of 2 new MMO's and Scot Hartsman gets a new Ferrari, then we could probably infer that AA has been a major boost to Trion's fortunes.
markting allways hide alot of things, and this annoucement is just markting.
I'd like to know how many founder pack were selled and how many patrons were activate after launch and finally how many current users still loggin, just for curiosity ofc. But that we will never know, we can only suspect and speculate.
This very site:
Members: 2,872,084 Users Online:1,761
Go figure...
The announcement only states that there is 2M people registered in whole life time of the service existence(ability to register via website, that is +10 months ago?). Nothing more. Very meaningless.
oh, give it a rest, it's all so tedious.
People with no games feel entitled to bash other games. I feel sad for them.
Server capacity is around 5,000 to 6,000.
It is hard to get a real number though, but given the character creation locks, queue numbers and jury queue numbers, that seems like a reasonable estimate.
Erm, if "not playing" how else are you supposed to measure and interpret server capacity comment?
If OP makes such assumptions as above, then the assumption must be based on that 2M are playing the the game.
As for your comment, that 2M indeed do not represent concurent users, neither it represents people that even play the game though.
It is just the number that registered an account via website in past many months, regardless whether they ever logged into a game.
I hate this type of thread with every title released. It's stupid and useless.
If the servers still look healthy after 6+ months to a year then that's all that matters.
FYI
Most MMO's are consistent in reporting that concurrent users logged in usually equates to around 1/3 of registered current active accounts and server capacities are set accordingly. No MMO ever has every single player logged in at the same time.
Is'nt every single goldseller also a registered user?
Or have I misunderstood something.
You can rest your case now..
1) There are no caps on registered user per server because account registration has no revelance to server you play on.
2) Again, that "simple" math is flawed math since dividing 2M does not net a server capacity - those 2M are not playing people, it has nothing to do with server capacity.
3) Yes, that is pretty much all what OP and you are assuming, wrongly.
"Registered Users" means what.......exactly?

All e-peen arguing back and forth means nothing. The servers are bustling with activity, and people are enjoying the hell out of it. No, it's not for everyone, especially if PvP isn't your idea of end-game, but some of us LOVE it.
I don't know why anyone would play this game for "free" anyway. The subscription really opens things up.
I think it doesn't go far enough in some ways. I hope other developers are learning the lesson that gameplay systems are more important than static content that people burn through in a matter of 30 days.
I suspect given you still have to que to get into a server that its a good bet that a lot of them are still playing . I'm not a big fan of the game myself for me it seems to be mostly about farming going to market doing some pvp on the way and then going back and farming some more .
To quote a scene from Clerks 2 ( talking about the lord of the Rings trilogy there is a lot of walking in this game ) .
Still even though its not for me I can see thus far it seems to be a success but I suspect it will not hang onto those numbers unless things change drastically in regards to the availability of land because new people coming to it are going to have a tough time because they are not part of the landed gentry . I can see Archeage becoming a microcosm of real life where a small minority have all the wealth .
When the dust settles my guess if that it will have about half a million active players which is more than enough to make it a successful business venture for Trion .
Everyone that has Glyph installed is a registered user for AA since it's one account, even those that play Rift only.
Or am I missing something?
Where is that number from? I think you're confusing MAU or DAU with PCU. An average PCU of 1/3 of your active accounts is pretty damn amazing.

Indeed. I'd like a battery of statistical information. Player retention and churn; as well as the average $ players spend in the cash shop, plus the standard deviation. I'd like to know how many hours players spend in the game.
but we won't get it. This whole 'deceive the customer' bullshit is sickening; and a large reason why I've tuned out. Yes, companies can claim they aren't publishing these data for fear of competitors making use of it.
hahahah can't really argue with those numbers.
Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.
In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit
