That's the equivalent of 5½ years of subscription fees. I bought WoW the day it launched and my total subscription time for the 3 or 4 periods that I played hasn't even reached a combined 5½ years. So that's a no.
^ This, more or less. I don't stick around long enough. Combined, since BC, I might have 3-4 years of play time. Emphasis on might.
I'm playing right now and will probably play when WoD drops, but will end moving on after maybe 2 months.

All one needs to do is look at all the "Unlimited Mileage"... "Unlimited Data"... Unlimited whatever plans out there and you will know that it is not what they claim it to be.
Anything that claims to be lifetime won't be... anything that claims to be unlimited won't be... it's only a means to get you to part with your money now. "No payments until 2025!" Sure, and if the company decides to go out of business tomorrow, all those payments (in full) come due tomorrow.
You buy lifetime today, tomorrow they will sell a better "lifetime" for less... you'll be pissed, we'll all be ROFLOAO.

I think the real question is: Why would I spend $1000 on a game I kinda like, when I won't even spend that kind of money on games that I completely love?
I'd rather spend that $1000 to go towards paying down my truck, or building another computer, or going on vacation, or setting aside for a rainy day.
There are many other things to spend $1000 on, and WOW isn't one of them.

I played the free trial and even that could not convince me to spend any money on this title.
I guess I was just too late to the WoW party. But hell, I would not spend anything close to that on any MMO I have played in the last 12 years. I can think of much better things to spend that kind of cash on, than games.

This + 100 why in gods name would anyone do this. And other game companies would look at this and start offering life subs. for the same money.
No. WoW has lost half it's subscribers since Lich King. WoD is their last chance. If it's as shitty as the last two expansions, they'll lose half the remaining after the initial expack release sale surge. $1000 is a 5 plus year subscription. WoW will be dead or ftp in 5 years. But I repeat myself.
I dont understand the point of paying 1k in advance for a single game. That's 5-6 years worth of subs, what's the point in paying that up front? With all the downtime between expansions, vacations, random moments of boredom when you want to unsub for few months, just looking at the big picture it makes no sense at paying that amount in a one go.
There's very few people who are going to play 6+ years straight any single game anyway, and even if they do, what's the big deal? I'd never pay 1k up front for any mmorpg, because it just does not make any sense. Before the "but if you knew for a fact that you'd play longer than 6 years" no one knows for a fact something like that, and I'm pretty sure I will never play any game 6+ years straight, or 6+ years in total even.
Here's what I would pay 1k up front for Blizzard: If they gave me everything they release in the next 10 years, games, expansions, sub fees, paid services, everything, in physical collector's edition format (if applicable), all shipped to my nearest post office, then I would consider paying 1k up front.
No wait, actually I would not, since I dont play WoW, and the slowpoke that is Blizzard isnt going to release games and expansions worth 1k in the next 10 years, took 7 years from them to just cancel Titan. I'll just stick to paying for things I currently enjoy/play!
If I'd pay 15€ or something a month for WoW, then 1000€ would give me about 67 months of wow, which is a bit more than 5.5 years. If I'd play fewer than 5.5 years WoW, just paying the subscription would be more worth it. Not to mention the flexibility.
WOW was getting my expansion + monthly fee, but things are different today and WOW is also more outdated then ever. It's truly sad the fact Blizzard failed to recognize this and insteed of trying to bring back the millions of subs they lost with far better deals/fees they choose the opposite, which is to charge additional $10 on the expansion. The fact I've bought all expansions and been left without content for years from them at least they could've cut the expansion fee for those who've purchased all expansions.
Blizzard will die and its greed with it. Sadly, this is what happens to both great games and not so great, greed...As long as Blizzard uses that name I'll never ever spend a dime on any game that comes out of em.
Back on topic. The most I would pay for a lifetime sub if Blizzard offered it now (with all expansions included) would be $150.
I would spend a $1,000 on lifetime access to anything. Doesn't matter what the game is. It turns out, I won't spend $180 or even $120 for lifetime access to anything either.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
The first year or two people might have actually have considered this....At this point the game is getting a little dated and I dont think most people see themselves playing it in 2020.......1000 might be a little much but maybe 500 for a lifetime sub might have attracted quite a few.
I do not think WoW is a bad game, nor do I think it's dying or anything, and sometimes I do miss the times I had when playing it (but then I realize what I really miss was the people I played with and not the game itself), but I don't think any game is worth $1000, at least not unless it actually included the system to play it in, and as much as I enjoyed WoW in the past, there are several other games these days that I've enjoyed just as much that are either B2P or F2P that I could easily go back for free (and one I'm playing and enjoying currently).
I don't get the incentive behind that. For $1000 you could buy yourself a playstation with tons of games. When an MMO ends you basically lose that $1000...in a way....those playstation games is something we still play.
$1000 would be equivalent to another 5 years of WoW or something? In 5 years WoW will look pretty ancient I think. I know I played some games for a few years, but WoW is now on it's 10th year....I don't think it will still be attractive to the majority in another 5 years.

$1000 for a game at the end of its life cycle?
No way. Not for me. lol.
Short answer: no
Long answer: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

What can men do against such reckless hate?
That's assuming Blizzard makes a WOW 2.0
Even then, that would be 5-7 years down the road, especially since they killed "Titan".

10 years for an MMO I understand, 15 is a lot.

Wait.... was that a serious question?!
Hellz No!
I wouldn't give it 20GBs of HDD space unless they paid me $1000.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
I would play World of Warcraft if Blizzard paid me $1000.
In case they opened some classic and tbc realms i could pay something.
